Fantastic experience: Great place, good classes! I enjoy it

Negative experience: I've had a terrible experience at the Jersey City location. apparently it's a breeding ground for predators. I brought this to both the manager and owner and was met with resistance. They tried they're best to deflect and sweep the situation under the rug. They continue to create an unsafe environment for members.

Fantastic experience: Excellent gym, spotlessly clean and equipment is well maintained. Location is ideal as it is near PATH for anyone commuting to/from Jersey City. For locals, it's easily accessible through the Newport Mall. Personal trainers are readily available and provide practical and professional guidance. Pricing is fair and competitive. Highly recommend this gym to anyone considering a membership.

Negative experience: A scam. I walk in and ask for the price, the staff is very nice, have a introduction about different plan and gave me a deal to waive 10$ activation fee. So the next day I came back, pack up ready for workout. After wait in front desk for 10 minutes , another staff finally show up, said they/them is in charge of this place and there's no such deal. They/them said "whoever told you this, made a mistake. There's no such deal ". No apology, just tell you no, it's someone else's mistake. This is kinda disgusting and wasted my time. They don't help to solve the problem, just told you no it's a mistake and not even any apology. I won't pay for a membership here because it's insulting.

Negative experience: Displeased with the maintenance of the facilities and customer service. Lacking in the cleanliness of the locker room, shower facilities, and maintenance of the equipment.

Fantastic experience: Been a member of this gym since 2021- still some of the best prices in town. I go around 11am-1pm and never have an issue with wait times. I mainly go for cardio and weightlifting- their rewards program is sick too, have gotten a number of smoothies for free!

Fantastic experience: Fitness Factory JC is remarkable. The facility is always clean and tidy, and all the workers are polite and happy to be at work. Even though I've never worked with a trainer in the gym, I watch them work with others. Dominick is excels and goes above and beyond with his clients. He is generally excited and displays vast training knowledge with weights, body weight, and cardio.

Fantastic experience: I just started going to fitness factory. The staff is very kind and friendly. Setting up a membership was easy and affordable, and the equipment is well kept. One of my favorite features is the Suna. I would recommend this gym to someone looking for a good gym that is also affordable.

Fantastic experience: I’ve been coming here for over 2 years, and it feels like home. Everyone treats each other well, and there is no judgment whatsoever. Plenty of space and equipment for everyone.

Fantastic experience: I love this gym, this year I have been a user for two years, it is near the Newport Mall, near the Path station, the price and the gym equipment seem to me to be in line. I highly recommend it.

Negative experience: If you're thinking about joining this place, don't. The owners are unhelpful and only cares about squeezing every dollar out of you. Just a few days outside the cancelation policy and you have to pay for a full new month with no exceptions. Gym itself is awful. Equipment showing it's age. The central AC was out of service twice in the last 4 weeks. Gym is humid and stale. Awful odor in the men's locker at all times. It's like they don't care about cleaning it. Do yourself a favor and skip this place. Plenty of better options with better management and people. Edit: Scrolling down and looking at the other reviews. Plenty of people are having issues with the predatory canceling policy and awful equipment/locker room upkeep.

Fantastic experience: Wonderful gym nice equipment. Real old school gym lots of machines free weights and great staff. Air conditioning could use an upgrade.

Positive experience: Positives: decent size, sauna, updated side room with new kettlebell selection, price, location Negatives: broken cardio machines all over this gym. There are many broken treadmills, ellipticals and the bikes can’t be adjusted anymore in the front. Some of these cardio machines have been broken for at least a year. air conditioner was set to 75 just a few days ago, extremely loud music set by whatever the mood the staff or trainers are in at the time. Good gym for the area, but it needs some updates.

Fantastic experience: Great staff, I love how the equipment has fans so you can feel the breeze as you push through your work out. I’m still in the beginning stages but I love this place and I’ll continue my journey here.

Positive experience: Standard 4 star gym. Enough space and great equipment. Been going here for 6 years. For $60 a month, it’s a steal. Especially, considering base is $200+ a month and people still complain about it.

Negative experience: You cancel your membership and they try to charge you 2 extra months was on hold for 20 minutes they don’t honor there cancel agreement form there’s plenty of gyms in the area don’t trust this one

Negative experience: Firstly, the cleanliness of the gym has significantly declined. There is often an unpleasant odor lingering in the air, and the equipment frequently appears dirty and unkempt. This not only affects the overall ambiance of the gym but also raises concerns about hygiene and safety, especially in light of the ongoing pandemic.Moreover, the maintenance of equipment seems to be lacking. Additionally, I have encountered issues with the staff's attitude and responsiveness. There have been instances where I've sought assistance or guidance, only to be met with indifference or a lack of willingness to help. As paying members, we deserve to be treated with respect and courtesy at all times. Overall, these shortcomings have left me feeling frustrated and disillusioned with my experience at fitness factory. I urge the management to take immediate action to address these issues and restore the quality and integrity of the gym. As a valued member, I expect nothing less than a prompt and satisfactory resolution to these concerns.

Negative experience: Awful, the gym is small and disorganized people remove bench bars to do deadlifts in the tiny dumbell rack area because there's only one deadlift rack. Bench press equipment is bolted down and not centered. Staff are never behind the counter and are not friendly. Also I paid for my all access membership which should allow me to use any fitness factory but when I come to this sad gym they say I can't because I don't have a plus membership which I have to pay extra to come here. Awful I wouldn't recommend this gym other fitness factory I would

Negative experience: Pros: Have all the equipment for a good workout Cons: Men’s bathroom smells really bad. Need some deep cleaning in there. It’s filthy. Dance(bollywood?) classes on the weekday take over the studio for the rest of the night. Back to back sessions? Unacceptable. Also we can’t take equipment because they lock the door

Negative experience: They don’t cancel your membership even after you told them to cancel it. So be careful. They even told you they would give you a call after ‘investigation’ but they never call you back.

Negative experience: Was going to join because of the price and proximity but thought of getting a trial first. Good that I did because I had a very bad experience with one of their receptionists/trainer. I would not be joining

Fantastic experience: What a wonderful experience daily at the fitness factory. The trainers are all a daily inspiration. The facility is quite well kept & cleaned often. The faces in the gym emphasize push, drive and intestinal fortitude. I definitely recommend if you’re looking for a gym, look no further. A great location downtown by the water with wonderful shops, eateries & the mall. Great atmosphere.

Positive experience: This gym is fine. It’s just too crowded. It’s a small gym filled with people during peak hours. You’ll be asked “how many sets do you left” and you don’t always get the machine you want and some members are just rude. Additionally, I saw some rats running around on a Saturday morning last year. Gym employees are nice. For me, I enjoy training alone but constantly interrupted by some people. Anyway, it’s the cheapest gym in this area. There are pros and cons and so just accept it.

Positive experience: The gym is at great location, near to station and the price is reasonable too. The equipment are also nicely maintained. There are often times when they are broken or under repair, but can’t complain with the membership fee charged every month. Although it would be nice to just have either yearly or enrolment fee

Negative experience: Doesn't allow cancellation before 2 months, requires 30 month advance, and then charges a $60 "maintenance fee" for staying for 3 months. Predatorial charging

Fantastic experience: This was my first stop when looking for a new gym upon moving to Jersey City. I really just wanted a gym with sauna, but club metro provides so much more. Staff is friendly and it is a reasonably sized gym. I have been a member for 4 years now and I have zero complaints.

Positive experience: I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Equipment is always broken, paper towels often empty, disinfectant bottles never work. This gym is gross and the only reason I go is because my husband has us in a couple pricing. Staff is usually nice tho with the exception of one individual.

Negative experience: You get what you pay for at around $40 a month. Equipment is average, layout is subpar and extremely cluttered. Random weights laying on the floor are a tripping hazard. If you go after work hours good luck getting a workout in. If you’re an average lifter it’s an alright gym, but if you’re an advanced\serious lifter it’s not for you.

Fantastic experience: Very Reasonable Monthly Membership, Great Location, Great Staff.

Positive experience: I honestly loved the gym when I first started coming over a month ago. Over time, I have noticed that the lockeroom and sauna are consistently filthy. There's everything from dirt to spit out chewed gum. With that being said, the staff and classes are great. Dom and Alexandra always go above and beyond during training sessions, and I would highly recommend taking their classes.

Negative experience: Please note, if you walk out 2 mins late (literal 120 seconds) from the gym’s closing time, they make you write your name on a sheet to shame you. (This is under new management)

Negative experience: Key machines break regularly and either never get replaced or take months to repair. Pec Dec machine broken for about a month now. Back extension bench has been missing for months. Leg press machine out of order too. I noticed a trend in specific individuals that hog more commonly used equipment texting on their phones for 10 minutes between sets then just leave their weights on it expecting people to clean it up after them. You get what you pay for at the cheapest gym in JC and you also get people that understand 0 gym etiquette with no management intervention

Positive experience: Clean and fairly well-equipped. The only changes I’d make are: 1) Replace all benches in the dumbbell area with the adjustable kind that can be flat or sloped at varying angles. The flat benches there tend to run out quickly at more crowded times while the ones stuck in a sloping position remain free because no one wants to use them. 2) Add one or two more squat/deadlift platforms with bumper plates, since the existing one tends to always be in use.

Negative experience: It’s clear there is no investment that goes into this gym. No new equipment, very poor maintenance of existing equipment, and it seems like nothing ever gets cleaned. When a machine goes out it takes weeks to repair. Even small things like pins for the weight machines and hooks for cables are constantly missing or broken. I understand this is the cheapest gym in downtown JC, but it would be nice if management made some effort to keep equipment in good condition. You really get what you pay for.

Fantastic experience: I LOVE ClubMetro!! The staff, Dominique and Nick in particular, are always beyond friendly and willing to help with anything. If Dom’s classes are getting you excited enough, he’ll always get you hype while he’s doing 1 on 1 training with his clients! His energy is contagious and is SUPER knowledgeable about the body and how to get the physique you want. Best gym in Jersey City!!

Fantastic experience: I joined metro gym, 10 months ago because I needed to lose the weight that I have gained during the peak of covid. The fitness manager/yoga teacher, Melissa suggested Abraham, an excellent personal trainer. During the complementary session he assessed my fitness level, took the time to explain the body mechanics behind the different exercises and made me work! I left sweaty and sessions booked! Abraham has transformed me not just physical, losing 30 lbs of fat (and gaining 10 lbs of muscle) but mentally. Thanks to him I'm confident in my appearance and who I am. I've gained an active social life, great style and can cook. Train with Abe!

Negative experience: Please be careful while signing up with them - they lock you into long term commitments with a lot of hidden fees. For e.g. To pause or cancel memberships, an annual fee + 1 month additional gym fee + cancellation fee + 3rd party claims fee was placed.

Fantastic experience: I signed up a few weeks ago, and my experience has been great. Welcoming staff willing to help in any way, not even to mention how hygienic the gym is, from the entrance, machines to the lockers room and bathroom. I have no complaints at all! Have a did join them!!!!

Negative experience: As a gym it was good but the member cancellation process was negative experience for me. It required a lot of effort on my part even when i was leaving jc/nj so just be aware. They even used a collection agency after i canceled which was upsetting since it was an error on their part.

Fantastic experience: I work in the area so I recently joined this gym to stay proactive during the fall/winter season. I signed up easily online while at work. When I arrived to the gym for the first time I was greated by Michelle. She was so welcoming and assisted me with any questions I had. I have only been a member for a week but I can say the customer service is on point. Clean bathrooms and locker rooms. I highly recommend d this establishment

Negative experience: Typical local gym tactics, impossible to cancel your membership. Forced to jump loops to finally get it cancelled. They enjoy stealing your money. Also have had multiple unpleasant experiences with the front desk employees from their OTHER facility in Rutherford. Keep in mind, this is during COVID where everyone has fallen under hard financial times. Thanks for supporting your local community I guess.

Fantastic experience: A very clean gym fully loaded with all equipments . The machines are of good quality and maintained well . The bathrooms are also clean and convienient to use .

Negative experience: Canceling my membership and trying to get back money for months charged during the pandemic was a huge pain. Take your money elsewhere. RE: I was charged membership dues for 3/28/20 to 4/28/20, a period for which the gym was completely closed. This company's reply is exactly what I mean when I say that trying to get back money was impossible.

Fantastic experience: I signed up for Club Metro at my roommates recommendation. It’s a great price and there’s plenty of equipment! It gets busy after work around 5 or 6pm, but for the most part I’ve never really waited for for a machine or bench. The gym is clean and the showers and sauna are nice touches! About a month after signing up, I decided to pair up with a personal trainer. I was matched with Rowel. I couldn’t be more pleased with our sessions! He’s a lot of fun to work with, but more than that, he’s a GREAT teacher! Thanks to him, I finally feel like I belong at the gym because now I know what I’m doing. And I’ve seen a lot of results. I’ve lost about 55lbs and gained a significant amount of muscle. I can’t thank him enough!

Fantastic experience: Ive been super happy with Club Metro(now Fitness Factory) over the past several years. Extremely friendly staff, and some of the members are actually friendly as well(which seems to be a rarity)at a lot of larger facilities. Diverse membership. Excellent maintenance and good equipment, with a separate room for classes or individual stretching, etc. Pleasant and energetic atmosphere, not overly crowded and a great location across the street from the Newport PATH station. Very good value overall. Nice juice bar.

Negative experience: Dear All, Club Metro faces class action lawsuit over membership contracts back in 2015. Bad habits can't go away and their doing it again. Please private message me and will work together to get this resolve. Thank you..... FYI ...... " Club Metro faces class action lawsuit over membership contracts" A New Jersey man is suing health club over allegedly violating New Jersey consumer protection laws. Paul Logan, on behalf of himself and those similarly situated, filed a class action lawsuit on Sept. 10 in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Middlesex County Court against Club Metro USA LLC; Club Metro USA Franchising LLC; HFIG-Old Bridge LLC, doing business as Club Metro USA Old Bridge; and ABC Financial Services Co. Inc. in connection with a membership agreement which allegedly violates the New Jersey Health Club Service Act (HCSA), the Retail Installment Sales Act (RISA), the Consumer Fraud Act (CFA), and Truth-in Consumer Contract, Warranty, and Notice Act (TCCWNA). The complaint states that on or around October 2013, Logan notified the staff of the defendant that he wished to terminate his membership, which he opened on Nov. 19, 2010. Despite Logan notifying the defendant numerous times of canceling membership, going so far as to mail a certified letter requesting cancellation of membership, the defendant allegedly continued to charge and automatically debit plaintiff for dues, according to the complaint. Logan alleges that Club Metro has made it difficult for members to cancel service, violating HCSA and CFA by continuing to renewing monthly membership charge members upon expiration of initial terms, and by violating the RISA by imposing fees not authorized by RISA. Logan is demanding a trial by jury and is seeking an undisclosed amount for treble damages, statutory damages of no less than $100 for each offense, attorney fees and court costs, and any other rewards deemed fit by the court. He is represented by Joseph LoPiccolo and John N. Poulos of Poulos LoPiccolo PC in Ocean, N.J. and by the Wolf Law Firm LLC in North Brunswick, N.J. UPDATE: Forming Different LLC's in each location and calling yourself independent is just a way to protect yourself from any lawsuits. Amazing your still surviving today, because you receive " a lot of money " from PPP, EIDL, GRANTS, Owner Compensation and Insurance. Your an expert in numbers and formation of LLC's !!! JUST DO THE RIGHT THING BY REFUNDING ALL YOUR MEMBERS THAT CANCELLED AND REMOVE THEM FROM COLLECTION ???

Positive experience: Don’t come here! They are SCAMMERS who charged me for months of gym service during a global pandemic even after I had cancelled! EDIT: They worked with me to resolve the payment issue and did listen. It turned out that it was a bad system design, where they hire a robo company to let you know you have a balance on your account. The robo-company is flagged as spam and I never picked up those calls leading to a huge charge months down the line... maybe reconsider that approach. Thanks for the help. Upgrading the score to reflect that.

Fantastic experience: My 7am Wednesday sessions with personal trainer Rowel Timbal has unexpectedly become the highlight of the last three months. In addition to proper form, posture, and a weight training program, Rowel taught me how to tailor my diet to maximize physical results. Extremely patient in answering roughly a thousand of my questions per session, Rowel instructs with clarity in explaining the benefit of each exercise in relation to others of greater complexity. Extremely professional, friendly, and engaging, he cares greatly in the interest of his clients, their progress and comfortability in the training. I highly recommend personal training with Rowel. As stated, it became the highlight of my week and especially important to me now during quarantine. These sessions helped me in terms of building positive energy, motivation, and engagement in that every week I was learning something new. Highest recommendation for personal trainer, Rowel Timbal.

Fantastic experience: I enjoy going to Club Metro Jersey City. It has everything I look for in a gym. Especially the rules to users at this time of Covid-19 I see that they are met. Each user must sanitize whatever they are using before and after. Sanitizer bottles are provided for each user. The protein shakes bar is amazing! Very varied. So far, I have tried three delicious flavors. I'm looking forward to classes like yoga and/or Zumba being activated because I'm going to be the first enrolling on them. The communication system with users is good when there is a change on the regular opening/closing time due to any circumstance like snow. The atmosphere is calm, the staff excellent. I'm grateful for the effort that Club Metro Jersey City staff does every day. Overall, everything is well maintained and clean. Something that I don't like so much is that the mirrors are half-body. The only thing I would change would be full-body mirrors. Perhaps it's for safety I don't know.

Positive experience: The gym is doing a great job of cleanliness and order during this time. I have also started training with Rowel who is so professional and knowledgeable . I look forward to many more sessions with him to achieve my fitness goals.

Positive experience: Good value for the money they charging

Fantastic experience: Club Metro has done a great job of keeping the gym very clean during these times. Each member is required to walk around with a spray bottle of cleaner, and there are many paper towel dispensers. In addition to the cleaning procedures, Club Metro has a wide variety of cardio and strength machines, as well as free weights and racks. They also have a studio area open for member use with kickboxing bags and social distancing markers. Overall, I am very pleased with the gym.

Fantastic experience: The team is great and respectful and has a great knowledge manager whose always ready to help. The place is clean and well organized which is important during these COVID times. They have a juice bar and nutritional snacks. They offer boot camps and 1 on 1 trainers, in addition to their nutritionist. There's no real down side to the place other than it being far from where I live, but that's not their fault

Positive experience: Great gym with clean, new machines and lots to offer. Staff is really helpful, friendly, and professional. I love the perks and the guidelines they have in place for covid-19. Gym is large with an open floor area with free weights and machines, turf area with kettlebells and miscellaneous equipment for cross-training type workouts, as well as a studio for classes which you could use for yoga, stretching, rolling, etc when no classes are going on. There’s also tanning and a bike room, and not to mention physical therapy available. Locker rooms are spacious and have showers (for use after social distancing guidelines are ended) and are always clean. They have a perks/rewards program, smoothie bar, and drinks & snacks available for purchase. The location is great within the Newport plaza/mall right across from the path station. Overall, I think this is the best gym in the area for the price and it was a no brainer for me when I joined about 8 months ago now. Highly recommend.
