Fayetteville VA Medical Center: Reviews
Fantastic experience: Their urgent care was fast and efficient.
Negative experience: Can't wait for Trump to tear down VA and rebuild. Fire the useless staff. Fire the person that runs it. Get rid of non essential staff. I.E. so called secretaries. The cooks. The cops. Talking about a waste of money. VA cops walk around out of shape wanna be real cops. Now are there good people at VA? Yes the clinical staff. The ones who took the oath of do no harm. All the rest who didn't suck
Fantastic experience: Just wanted to share with public In Fayetteville NC area that the true expertise of the Pulmonary doctor Jordana Hosteler and her team are actually one of the best researchers into Cancer and other types of Pulmonary Isues she and her team will not sugar coat things which I find Amazing.
Negative experience: Id rather take my chances on the street then try to get service here. Very unorganized place, it starts as soon as you pull onto the property.
Negative experience: It is so difficult to reach anyone when transferring care to this location. When I was able to reach someone (in May) I was told appointments are booked out through November. So then they transferred me to community care and that took months also. When you can get a scheduler they are extremely rude and short with you. Update: Called the Patient “Advocate” office today 10/23/2024, because I haven’t been contacted to schedule any of my referrals made by the Care in the Community Provider. It’s been nearly two and a half months and none of my referrals have been scheduled. The Patient Advocate Rep. was very curt, borderline hostile and domineering. On par with how my interactions have been with any VA staff I’ve spoken to here. If I could give them a half star, I would.
Fantastic experience: After 5 days of level 7-8 migraines, I went to the emergency room. I was seen by PA. Brian Basham. Thank you, thank you, thank you. He prescribed meds and an IV. I was checked on every 5mins. The staff was wonderful. I was sent home afterwards, had the best sleep I've had in 5 days. The next day my headache is hardly noticeable. I truly hope this gets shared with the staff and PA Brian Basham. Thank you again for taking care of me. I salute you all.
Negative experience: This facility needs to be shut down and condemned. This center is dirty and lacks the care for cleanliness. Not to mention a majority of the low class staff members who have no considerations for the patients. I wouldn’t go to this facility unless you’re asking for a death sentence.
Negative experience: The worst VA system I have ever been in. The only way to receive any treatment is by going to the ER. They do not take mental health seriously and the place is filthy. The building and staff are terrible.
Negative experience: For 2 years I have been trying to transfer to the VA here which is Fayetteville. I have AT&T & for 2 years I still cannot receive ANY incoming calls & AT&T says "it's not on their end" it must be their network! Anybody with AT&T have any problems with Fayetteville VA getting through?
Fantastic experience: I went to the ER, and I was treated with care and respect. I was seen by Blake and Ashley they are awesome! It was the best and most professional ER experience I've ever had!
Fantastic experience: I put myself when I was making chili. It looked a bit deep, so I decided to go to the urgent care to see if it needed stitching. Not only did they let my wife know she did a great job wrapping the wound, but they also gave us a lot of laughs to help alleviate any stress. Will always come back. The photo is before and after
Fantastic experience: There is an employee at the VA Medical Hospital on Ramsey Street who gave excellent customer service!!! I do not know her name but there was an angry and irate customer that came in because her appointment was cancelled and she told the staff that she was getting "pissed off." The VA employee told her that everything would be okay and she would try her best to fix this issue and to calm down. This employee went above and beyond and spoke with the customer one on one and provided her with a blanket. I love how calmly she approached the customer and comforted her. Her kindness deserves more recognition ❤️
Negative experience: Absolutely horrible place, they don’t answer the phone and their voicemail is always full so you can’t leave a message. I called for an hour before I got to speak to someone in eligibility, the lady I spoke with insisted I had to come in to transfer my care. Pack up my toddler head in just to be spoken to extremely rudely and come to find out I didn’t have to be present . Currently trying to reach primary care, again no answer, voicemail is full and the operator isn’t available.
Negative experience: I have been using the VA for my health care needs all over the U.S. for over 25 years. This particular facility is in my opinion by far the worst VA that I have ever experienced without doubt. Many disrespectful employees, lacking service availability, really a lack of care and empathy by employees, an over all attitude that ignores the needs of us veteran’s!!! I could go on siting specific instances, however, they are too numerous to mention so I just give the system an overall failing grade!!!
Fantastic experience: Not speaking for everyone. But I had a good experience here.
Negative experience: Fayetteville VA health care system has many failures from paying community care bills to paying travel pay . Also the prosthetics department is behind on billing. I have been waiting 18 months for my new socket for me leg
Negative experience: On 02/12/2024 I went to the ER because I needed medical assistance. My nose was swabbed to test for COVID. As well as severe sinus pain. I was told at 3:10pm that I will have the results in 20 minutes. I waited until 4:00pm to get a status and I was told that "she" was going to go check on it. Well, 5:00pm still no answer. I went back to the same person that I spoke with at 4:00pm. She was talking to a fellow employee about family and intentionally ignored me as I see the person she was talking to looked at me out the corner of his eye and kept talking. I dispise conflict and will not stoop that low to get a point across. This situation made me have different feelings. I decided to leave and go to another clinic. Piss poor customer service! People should treat people the way that they want to be treated. Anybody that can deliberately ignore someone to maintain a conversation, all while the customer is standing and waiting for the conversation to end should not be in customer service. Middle window of the ER!
Negative experience: There are caring people who work here, but there are also many who don't seem to care about the veterans that come in. It is sad to say and even harder for me to hear or see it. Every single person is going through something, and we should, at the very least, show compassion and respect to everyone. Regardless of what we may be going through. Kindness goes a long way, and we aren't just numbers in a computer. I have seen a bit throughout the last decade here, and one thing seems clear is that many of the employees that work here want you to show respect but don't feel they need to reciprocate it back. I'd say it is worse for some people, from what I've seen. The individual is polite and respectful, but they get talked to like trash. It's not right.
Negative experience: Plain and simple: They do not care about Veterans. Disgraceful. If anyone in the FAY VA wants to hear more, they can call me.
Negative experience: They don’t know how to answer phones. Community care absolutely SUCKS will not send referrals out or accept them and always claim they never received them. Aspen is BEYOND words rude and denies being rude. NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONE POINT BLANK. They don’t care. At all. No one wants to do their job and then they get pissy when they are forced to. Whole place needs to burn and restart.
Negative experience: Absolute trash and embarrassment. The operator wont even pick up the phone and every time you can get someone on the phone it is DEAD END!
Fantastic experience: Excellent
Negative experience: APATHY. Nothing but apathy at almost every step.
Negative experience: If I could leave a zero star I would. This organization does not care about veterans. They have been sitting on my referrals for years and they haven't done anything with them. I was supposed to get surgery 5 years ago and still haven't gotten it. Now my service-related injuries have gotten much worse to the point I can't bend over and tie my shoes. I have even had VA advocates step in but that didn't help. This VA office is trash, incompetent, lazy, disrespectful, and is a complete waste of government funding.
Negative experience: I’ve been calling about my “emergency referral” for 3 weeks now. They only provide a number that leads to a voice mailbox. Still haven’t received a call back. Embarrassing to say the least.
Negative experience: Rude employees. There is a problem when staff become rude and do not practice active listening. I am a nurse and the community care women wanted to tell me my experience rather than listen to find a solution. Was told she would put me on hold while I gather myself. Or she could have listened and not assumed and basically oh well sorry for you than hang up. Patient advocates don't return phone calls. You call an operator no knew answer. Pretty ghetto VA. Wrote my congressman about the lack of care. Community care sends you out doesn't want to pay for the bill. Very bad system.
Negative experience: My community care provider assigned by the VA suspects I have a type of lymphoma . Yet this VA has taken it upon themselves to deny my referrals for further testing in hematology , or oncology . And when I went to the ER to have them look at my lymph nodes that she said were swollen , the Doctor said I looked fine rolled his eyes and huffed when I asked him to at least examine the lymph nodes . In my chest neck and stomach that are swelling and hard as stones . He told me there is no such thing as lymph nodes in your stomach and that they were just fat rolls . Why is the VA blocking testing , that I know will be invasive (biopsies on lymph’s as well as bone marrow most likely ) as I already contacted a cancer center and they too said I need to get tested . I’m not seeking drugs just answers and the VA is treating me like some kind of hypochondriac. My journey , in this cancer thing started cause I went to see my PCP thinking I may have diabetes something easy to control and pretty minor all tho All considered . I am a women’s semi pro tackle football player , a former marine who served in Garmsir Afghanistan with the 24th meu, and a former fighter . I’m not some wuss looking for a hand out or drugs or anything and this place is treating me like a pariah and I just want answers as I slip further and further into what ever illness this is . I weighed 220lbs 3 months ago I weighed in at 173 yesterday at this location and it didn’t set off any alarms .
Negative experience: This place is a joke. My father has dementia and is battling leg pain. Because he does not show regular signs of being in pain he has been pushed back to the bottom of the list multiple times. They claim they are doing what they can. He was left unattended while getting an X-ray and began to wander the hallway, I don’t think anyone reads a chart around here, his clearly states he has dementia. Anyone who has taken care of or dealt with someone with dementia would know the toll it takes on the caretakers/ the person suffering not understanding what is going on or why their regular schedule is being disrupted No sense of urgency whatsoever. Some care for a chaplain officer that served 25+ years.
Fantastic experience: Very clean and friendly
Fantastic experience: Great
Negative experience: A zero is not listed so I have to settle for a one star while they do not deserve. As a traveling veteran I have NEVER experienced such level of unprofessialism. Since traveling to NC from out of state I have been attempting to get dental care as 100% P&T veteran. I am over the 30 miles from the VA and asked for a community referral. The White House VA Hotline had to be contacted in references to the issue. I begin to receive telephone voice messages that could not be understood because of numbers being rushed. Any veteran with hearing issues knows about having to repeatably playing a "f" message and you still cant not understand it. Either the individual leaving the message is not a veteran, don't give a "f" or just making the status quo replies. Since I could not CLEARLY understand the rushed and NONE repeated number I drove over 30 miles to the VA. My experience with the Patient Advocate Office has been a first class joke. Therefore, I do not waste my time. Most likely they are there just for the status name and milking the system until 4 or 4:30 p.m. However, I decided to give the B&B's the benefit of the doubt. As a former AFGE union steward for nine years there would ALWAYS be someone onsite when the union traveled, in meetings, etc. In addition a SIGN would ALWAYS be posted for immediate contact. Not so with this location. I tapped on the two office doors and no answer. The number posted on sign was called and no answer. To make matters there was no "NOTIFICATION" posted on any doors. SEVEN pictures and no "F" answer. When asked where the directors office not a SINGLE employee could tell me. I have learned when you have a majority of race employed there WILL and ALWAYS be issues.
Negative experience: I've been enrolled since January at this facility. I've been calling the Health Benefits department for MONTHS to get a primary doctor so I can make an appointment. I've left messages, no avail. I call again, their mailbox is full and can't receive messages. Absolutely ridiculous.
Fantastic experience: Staff work really hard in the ED department to make you a priority. I would highly recommend this VA medical center to other veterans.
Fantastic experience: 62 y/o Navy vet's take on treatment at the Ramsey St. VA Medical Center emergency room/ urgent care in Fayetteville, NC for a kidney problem in May '23. All aspects of visit and treatment were top notch, as friendly, respectful and caring as any top notch civilian hospital I've ever been treated at. The VA and the country can be very proud of the services going on for our Veterans.
Negative experience: The ABSOLUTE WORSE SERVICE I have ever received. Patent advocate hangs up on you, referrals just sitting for months, no care, no compassion and it is shameful that these people are getting paid to service veterans and treat us with such disrespect and callous attitudes when care is needed.
Negative experience: Every time I call this facility to speak to somebody in community care, it always results in absolutely no answer. Every once in a while I’ll get an automated message to leave a message, and no one ever calls me back. Update: I was given the number to community care and shockingly... nobody answers. In fact, as I waited for a human to speak to for 7 minutes, the phone call was cut off. What a joke.
Negative experience: I’ve had a sinus infection for over 10 days now. Drove all the way to this location just to be undermined and prescribed stuff I can purchase at a grocery store. I attempted to reason with the PA but she was stubborn, condescending, and felt the need to share that she’s “been doing this for 26 years, there’s no cure for sinus infections and colds.” Implicit bias at its finest. A basic google search reads if the infection lasts longer than ten days, it’s bacterial, and requires antibiotics. Malpractice on disabled veterans should be avoided at all costs. Do better!
Fantastic experience: New employee who went to the PIV and fingerprinting office. Zebede Drake was amazingly kind and helpful throughout the entire process. All staff should aspire to be as kind and attentive as he was.
Fantastic experience: Today I went to the ER … like some of us, I felt ambushed, lost, stressed and plain angry. They really listened and now I can say that I’m really happy about the decision I made.
Fantastic experience: Thank you. I always come here when I need urgent care and it’s always quick and friendly care . I was in an out today in an hour. if I had been at Womack, I doubt I would have even been triaged yet. Keep up the great work and thank you to the friendly and helpful staff here.
Fantastic experience: Went in for a procedure and received top notch professional and courteous care. A great experience. Great facility.
Fantastic experience: Have a great team that takes great care of me. I'm not afraid to send me out into the public to make sure that I am careful always
Negative experience: As a former VA employee, I am appalled at the Fayetteville VA Medical System and their lack of coordination, nonexistent continuation of patient care, and all around inability to service veterans. After suffering an infant death following delivery, it has been more than A YEAR since I have had care with the VA. Each time I attempt to establish an appointment I am thrown through another 10 sets of roadblocks before being authorized/scheduled for a speciality appointment. The lack of correct information has cost me time, money, and ruined trust. I was told I would be seen at another clinic by the call center and chose to drive to the CBOC to be TURNED AWAY! I am embarrassed that you serve our community and I will not be using your services again!
Negative experience: Really losing faith in c care of fayetteville. Don't call you back or leave you on hold for so long I just give up...Help. Dennis
Negative experience: Don’t expect this office to call you if you’re a disabled Veteran and needing a referral. You have to call them or they’ll never get to you. I had multiple referrals put out into the community and 3 months later I called, waited on hold for 30 minutes just to have Ambry get offended and hang up on me after I questioned why they haven’t reached out to me. The VA needs to do better than this. It’s obvious these VA representatives have no idea the struggles us veterans have been through if they’re so willing to get up at arms about a real issue. Unfortunate now that I will most likely never get my referral pushed through all because of one person. The representatives at this office are rude, lazy and unappreciative of the service we veterans have provided. Makes me sick.
Positive experience: I’m giving the Urgent Care center 3 stars for the outstanding job they did with grabbing me as soon as I came in the door with obvious trauma. The team was great and I wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. Now the two stars I didn’t give were from the way the front desk day clerk on 09/27/2022. I give this date so that if HR looks at this, as I see they don’t, they can narrow down the individual. My instructions on my discharge papers said, “if any new or concerning symptoms return to the ER for repeat assessment “. So I did. I came in with crutches and hopped to the check in counter and filled out the form. The lady at the desk said to bring it to her so I had to hop around and give it to her,. I explained that I didn’t get any pain meds or dr’s note and she told me to take a seat. As soon as I found a seat, she called me back up and drilled me on contacting my Primary Care and I told her I did. She said,”if I were you I would just go there” but I’m here now and what is the problem? I couldn’t take the resistance and left. It was an unbelievable experience to go through as a 100% disabled combat veteran! JEEZUS.
Negative experience: Continues to add clinics/buildings while removing the already limited parking. More parking for employees, than patients.
Negative experience: This place looks unsanitary. I was called for triage with other patients inside coughing. The nurse left trash from the previous patients on the table where I say next to for vitals. She was nice even though her techniques were rough. This was my first time here and I was shocked an embarrassed to bring my civilian friend in here with me. I'm always bragging about my benefits and to see this poor display of service blew me!
Fantastic experience: Great Experience, Stern Chats! Nurse Jared, thanks for the talk never ever in my life will I forget it, take care VA!
Negative experience: They have me sitting outside waiting to be treated. I can't believe it. Ramsey street, Fayetteville NC.
Negative experience: Horrible horrible horrible I haven't seen my primary care in a year. My appointments get canceled or phone appointments are scheduled an canceled. I been waiting over 2yrs now for dental referral with no help. The system is broke an absolutely noone cares. Multiple calls, no human being answers, this is horrible for disabled veterans!!! Someone please help!!! Someone !!!
Negative experience: So if I'm a disabled vet and need urgent care that didn't matter as the Willinington clinic turned me away. They told me to go to a walk in clinic. Ok so I am visiting here from out of town and wasn't in their computer system. I was told to contact my primary care in Florida to have them register my info into the system here. Totally amazingly..sad. I'm in the Healthy Vet System and offered to show my id card but the answer was "no thanks".
Fantastic experience: Went to the ER VAMC Ramsey Street. Waited 1:30 hr before being taken back. That’s good timing and had labs done prior. Everyone was nice and polite. The young woman who took my labs was very polite and positive and we spoke about future endeavors. Most impressed with Dr. Gilman. He took the time and listened to me about my GI issue which really made a difference. I was dreading going from all the stories but I was impressed. I will be coming back for future care if needed. Thank you Dr. Gilman and ER staff from a Veteran, a wife, a mom and a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Negative experience: Need more help. The wait is ridiculous plan to cancel all plans because you will be there for hours. I’m doing a whole work shift with the providers. It gets to a point you rather walk out than wait for simple illnesses or injuries check up. I’m only referring to the Emergency Room.
Negative experience: I've been at this VA since 2016 and never had any problems until 2019 I won't speak on those. Monday I went to speak to the people in records I took a number and rang the doorbell they laughed and talked and even looked at me a few times and completely ignored me for about 15-20 minutes before I just left. But today I don't know what was wrong with this elderly lady working in the health benefits office in room 109 with the short white hair but I walked in she said yes ma'am changed it to yes sir, I corrected her and said I'm a woman she didn't seem to care, okay cool. I arrived to ask for help locating a document that I have been looking for on even it's for, for about a month now and I no longer can get into my Ebenfits account I don't kkow why so I asked her if I can get a copy of the document also letting her know I didn't have access and I couldn't find the document but she kept repeating the same thing in a rude tone. I've tried calling at least 5 times anf even left 3 voicemails with no call back at all. And I still left with nothing.
Fantastic experience: Great place for what it does for the people. A Timely manner is something we all need to learn to deal with.
Fantastic experience: Today's staff was a God send. Very professional and didn't take long to provide complete services. I was in and out roughly a hour.
Fantastic experience: Urgent care visit today Walked in, got registered...vital signs recorded, nurse saw me, Dr. saw me with almost no waiting!!! A great visit with Very friendly nurses & Dr. !!! 5 stars for todays' visit!!! THANK-YOU all
Negative experience: Went to the ER around 1am on January 9th for a concussion involving slurred/delayed speech, imbalance while walking, and obviously a severe headache. The 'health provider' checking me in sat me down with no assistance and had a disgusting, repulsive attitude. Most notably, besides the look of absolute disdain and skepticism on her face, the abhorrent nurse asked what happened and I explained as best as I could in my condition and she rudely asked "Do you always speak like this?" as if I was pretending. I told her no and she told me "See, you can speak properly. Save the drama for your momma." I was told to provide a urine sample to test for pregnancy before any testing could be done when I'd already insisted I knew I wasn't pregnant. Considering I had HEAD TRAUMA WITH VISIBLE SIDE EFFECTS, you would THINK they would work faster to get me seen. I sat there for well over an hour, maybe two JUST for a pregnancy test result. Which, again, I said I knew I wasn't pregnant. Eventually, I was taken in a wheelchair to get a scan of some sort done. I was not admitted and was ushered out before the ACTUAL neurologist doing my scan could even look at it. The regular doctor just asked us to trust him and said he thought everything looked fine. My husband had to ask for some Tylenol for me before leaving. Honestly, this place is disgusting. Whatever older, short nurse with blonde highlights and blue or green eyes working on January 9th should be FIRED. Immediately. Healthcare workers have been through a lot due to COVID, I'm sure, but if you're that unhappy in your profession to the point of being clearly BOTHERED by someone utilizing your facility for emergency care, you should probably just quit. I didn't serve my country and receive a 100% disability rating to be treated that way by a sour, bitter nurse.
Fantastic experience: This was my first experience at this VA hospital and wow was it huge! I had to stay overnight for a sleep study and had no idea where I was going to in there and three different people stopped what they were doing without me asking and helped to make sure I got to where I was going. And the guy taking care of me at the sleep study was fantastic! He really was. He went way out of his way to make sure I had envying needed! They work so so very hard in that field and god bless them for it! I will never have anything good but to say about that VA hospital. I highly recommend this facility if you get the good fortune of getting to go there. Put your mind at ease because you will be very well taken care of!!
Fantastic experience: I needed lab work completed. Two trips to the lab and everyone was as nice as could be. Very helpful and responsive to my needs. I felt like valued as a person and as a veteran.
Fantastic experience: The leadership doesn’t know what or how to care for veterans that have earned the care and treatments this country owes us for our honorable and faithful service. They are only concerned with saving money and letting the veterans suffer and die if no one advocates for them. It’s along over due for change, change this administration has been promising the nations 22 million veterans for too many years now.
Negative experience: This place is like the poster child for what’s wrong with the VA.. I told the PA what was going on, because I had this problem for 27 yrs and they have my records in the system . But the PA and student refused to listen to me , So I just left without care....this was my first and last time going to this VA I WOULD RATHER DIE TO GO TO THIS VA !!!!!!!!
Negative experience: This place is like the poster child for what’s wrong with the VA. Not enough providers for the amount of people to properly give care. Every time you come in it’s like it’s the first time. I’ve asked for different providers and nothing happens. Then asked to be referred outside of the VA & was told it would be months before they could make it happen only for nothing to happen. Community care here is a joke. Meds run out and they act like it’s your fault they didn’t send them to you. Everyone you talk to asks questions like they are the DR even if they have no reason to. The people working here act like they are doing you a favor just by showing up. No matter how nice you are or who you talk to nothing changes and no one cares. Guess they are at least consistently terrible.
Fantastic experience: After my experience yesterday at the lab at the VAMC on Raeford Road I write this review with pleasure. I walked in, no waiting, although I don't mind a legitimate wait, veterans are all familiar with "hurry up and wait." : ) Immediately after checking in and verifying myself, I was greeted by a lab tech, who actually seemed to be waiting for me. He was pleasant, professional and confident. I told him the same thing I told the 3 labs techs at the Raeford Road site, he listened, asked me if I had a preference as to which arm he used to draw the blood, I didn't. I only asked that he not use my hands and please don't tell me when he's about to stick me. Well kudos to Cody, "one shot, one kill!" Not literally, he stuck me once and achieved the necessary blood filled vials for the lab testing. I sincerely hope the VAMC will hire and keep more employees like Cody. As a patient I really like to feel the person who is handling my healthcare is a caring professional.
Fantastic experience: Very clean, professional
Fantastic experience: Best medical care. Period!
Fantastic experience: This place was not too crowded when I went there for a prescription drop-off. Usually when I go here it is very difficult to find parking. The hospital keeps expanding but the parking lot area remains small . A good solution would be to sell off some of those Tall Pine trees out front and create parking area. The place is currently under reconstruction but is operational for medical services.
Negative experience: Understaffed
Negative experience: They nearly killed my daughter. She went with Covid was made to stay in her vehicle.where she stayed 5 hrs was told if she could talk she wasn’t having trouble breathing. They gave her prednisone and inhaler without ever checking her in or even an X-ray. 2-4 days later she returned and was admitted. Transferred to another facility and transferred again. If they would have done X-ray or even checked her out we still wouldn’t be fighting 50+ days later. Great way to treat a veteran
Fantastic experience: I have been here a few times for various reasons. I did have Ms Ginger as a nurse while experiencing high anxiety and she handle it very well. The doctors are always great and have done the most. I always am scared that woth the VA the doctor will see my disability and not me, as that happened in Indiana before, but they treat the condition in which you there to be seen. I am really thankful for this place and the staff. I've been to the urgent care around 5 times in to years.
Negative experience: Er is beyond slow to the point I left! And the waiting area ran out of seats because it’s so small. I’m new to the area and I hate this facility already!!
Negative experience: I don't want to make this review because I know I have had good experiences here. But I was told my appointment for my primary care physician was going to be in July and it had gotten canceled back in May and I was notified on a number that doesn't exist anymore and I know I had went online and changed it. So I didn't figure out until the day before I was supposed to have it, and when I had tried to reschedule it I was told I would be called for my Primary appointment, an hour goes by and I didn't get a single call. I called again and I was told to wait longer. So I did and then received a call from a Case Manager trying to talk to me about receiving help with my disability percentage increasing and was told he was contacted by the VA to contact me. I then proceeded to call them a third time within a day and was told my appointment will be on the 4th of August. Not even a full week later I received yet another call telling me my appointment was rescheduled to November, when proceeding to describe that this is the third appointment being scheduled insanely far out for me I was told it wouldn't be November but in fact December. I am extremely disappointed and frustrated with the mismanagement of my health and treatment with my issues.
Fantastic experience: Little bit a of a wait, but the urgent care staff has ALWAYS been extremely kind and sincere. I am appreciative for their service.
Negative experience: I don't know how the VA hospital is spoken poorly of... My husband needed to go to the emergency department at the VA... They did bring him back rather quickly.... The RN Ginger brought him back quickly... Wow... That's why the mental health care is a joke. The Asian woman came in.... The non existent expression on her face... The dark soulessness in her eyes... Terrible Awful place.. don't go here if you have ANY mental illness they will turn a heart attack into a psychological issue.
Negative experience: VA Community Care is non-existant. Have had two referrals to see an outside provider submitted to Community Care at the Fayetteville VA. I called to inquire and the lady hung up on me. Have never received an appointment as recommended by my primary care doctor. Giving them a one star is being very kind I will assure you. Another dead end with the VA.
Negative experience: Unfortunately, when you have an in person appointment (as of recent since covid is easing up) I walk up to the front desk because I was scheduled for an IN PERSON apointment. I receive a look, and the lady states "what do you think you're doing"? My response, attending my in person appointment to check in. This VA does not take pride and care in what they do. Secondly, primary care doctors and providers will secure message back to you that they forward stuff and never get back to you. If you request a change in medications, they'll also say "okay on its way" and send you the exact SAME medication you requested be changed. Lastly, you can stay on the phone all day and press 2 to be connected to your primary care and it will still tell you to press 2 to be connected to your primary care. This is how they get vets to be labeled as "unable to contact". Just awful
Fantastic experience: I've seen negative reviews for the VA , but I was very surprised by the good service. I had a very positive experience. At least from the urgent care department. I will have to wait to get a primary physician, as they are very backed up. And I'm OK with that.
Negative experience: Waited 2 hrs to get glasses. I had the prescription just needed to pick them out. 1 person in the clinic and she didn't care how slow she moved. Thanks so much for honoring my service.
Fantastic experience: I went last night for a HORRIBLE migraine Pete and Dr. Lozano are amazing took care of me right away and sent me home feeling alot better. Dr. Metcalf was really friendly and informative. One of the best experiences I've ever had at this VA during treatment. There's another lady who is really good too she's older I believe has twists in her hair can't remember her name and a young man who is blad that works in the front he's awesome too. I have hope for the VA thank you guys for restoring my faith in healthcare.
Negative experience: DO NOT VISIT, THE WORST VA EVER! From the top down everyone needs to be fired at this VA, 95% of my appointments have been canceled by the VA due to incompetent people. Then they say i was a no show until i say i can send you the email i received from you all cancelling the appt, that's when all of the excuses start. I've reached out the director, asst dir, chief of audiology, IEF transition team, mental health, patient advocates and their supervisors all to no avail. You ask for help only to not receive any care, that's the FAYETTEVILLE VA for you!
Negative experience: I've been trying to get ahold of anyone to schedule an appointment for urgent care. No one answers the phone and the appointment line goes in circles and never links to anyone. I'm sick, I'm off meds and I need help. I need an appointment asap.
Fantastic experience: First let me Thank the Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) Team. From the first contact with the VES appt staff to the appointment the Staff was very professional, understanding, knowledgeable but most of consistently working together as a team. Alysha, the VES-Intake Specialist was spot on. When I walked in she knew who I was and did a Outstanding job to ensure that I was comfortable and willing to assist any way she could during my stay in the lobby area by providing water, and snacks and keeping me informed of the Doctors schedule. Dr. Elizabeth Derouin Ph.D., When you Google what Providers should do, Dr. Derouin's picture should pop up. Professional, Passionate, Knowledgeable, one for the best provider's I have seen. She far surpassed expectations when she asked the questions she was thoughtful and respectful of the condition I was being seen for and feelings. Just an understanding Professional If not the best I have been seen with the VA one of the best. An EXCEPTIONALLY TALENTED provider who cares for the veterans. As a 21 year Retired Marine Veteran I want to Thank Veterans Evaluation Services for the dedication that they provide to our Veterans.
Negative experience: Absolutely some of the rudest people to talk to on the phone.
Negative experience: The people answering this government phone are FLIP! They act as though they are doin you a favor! Trying to get my veteran mother her Covid- 19 vaccination and these MOTHERS act as though what crisis?, “what you talking about?” The call was made to the Fayetteville VAMC at 10 am on 1-6-2021 where the female operator advised my mom abruptly that no vaccines were being given. My mom asked when they will be available and the operator said to call back next week. She did not offer any further information or transfer my mom to the appropriate POC. She hung up. Needless to say, my mom was upset.
Negative experience: There is a rude black lady, who meets people at the front of the building, to gather information, who is completely lacking in customer service representation skills and has complete disregard for respect.
Negative experience: Was enrolled as a new patient here in Fayetteville September 2019. Had a couple of appointments and then called in sept of 2020 to get an appointment they deleted my file and started me all over as a new patient! Now during a crisis I called to speak to a psychiatrist they referred me to tricare since I’m a blue cardholder, went to Womack they turned me away after 6 hours (while in crisis) then asked me why I didn’t go to the VA ? So I called VA to get a psychiatrist appt they said next available appt is December! Really?, now how is that helping the “22 a day” how?, what if I was one of them? (22 a day) how many of them tried to get help as I am and where ran through all the same BS?!!!
Fantastic experience: Clean structure; COVID-19 conscious as one has to be prescreened prior to entry into the building; professional and courteous staff (for the most part)...
Fantastic experience: The dental clinic is outstanding. Went in, no appointment, with pain bad enough that I couldn't sleep, and they made time for me. Probably the most no-nonsense dental clinic I've been to across the DoD/VA
Fantastic experience: This facility is pretty central to Fayetteville Business Development District, and Ft. Bragg areas. Parking may be a challenge sometimes, if you don't want to utilize the Valet parking. Medical and allied personnel are have been quite professional at every visit. Although an old building complex, there have been a series of remodeling in the past couple of years.
Fantastic experience: I meet people who have been through what I have !!!
Negative experience: So I spent about 2 hours making calls to the VA Medical Center and to the VA trying to setup my initial appointment after retirement. The automated system couldn't find me based on my SSN. This place told me that I needed to be enrolled, the VA and the VA website said I was already approved. One lady here at the VA Medical Center said that she couldn't find me in the system, and forwarded me to another woman who "might" be able to find me. I had already talked with her, but she tried to find me, and placed me on hold for a few moments. She then came back and said that her lead tech had stepped away and that she would call me back in less than 30 minutes. I knew what that meant. I got off the phone. Took a shower and shaved. I then drove the 15 minutes down to the Medical Center. Found the information desk, went up on floor, went down to the Health Resources Center, and they were able to find me and tell me that the scheduling team would be able to get me an appointment in a few weeks. It took 5 minutes of me walking into the room for them to find me, and see that I was enrolled. Now I sit and ponder if the "scheduling team" will be calling me in a few weeks or not. My guess is that they won't. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. There are a few negative reviews here on Google, but you have to give them a chance. With all the negativity that surrounds the VA, you'd think that there would be some sort of changeover that would put them on the right track. Maybe folks that worked for the DOD are used to this kind of treatment, but for those who didn't retire from the DOD, like me, this is a shock. I hope my future dealings with them go better. If they do, my review will be adjusted.
Positive experience: Not too many people. Normal hospital wait times.
Fantastic experience: Easy entrance and parking
Negative experience: I am trying to make an appointment and have been waiting for 5 weeks now for someone to assign me a provider. I called again today and was told it could take another two months to be contacted . Unbelievable
Negative experience: Hernia surgery scheduled in morning. Cancelled scheduled for 3 months out. Hope I'm not dead by then. Do walk ins! Appointments they just reschedule and reschedule until the veterans issues are far worse, or they die!
Negative experience: Recently retired. 100% VA rating. I’ve called three times to try to set up an appointment to get my health care card and my initial intake. Left a message with a live person once and two voice mail messages. Haven’t gotten a single call back. Very disappointed.
Fantastic experience: The staff was very professional even during a shift change, all the staff and doctor's bedside manner was very nice. The wait was a little bit but like I said before, shift change, what do you expect. They don't deserve they bad rep they're given.
Negative experience: They were VERY rude to my mother when she took my stepdad in. NEVER EVER should our Veterans or their families be treated like this!! It just disgusted me.
Negative experience: If you would like to be examined for injuries or conditions go any where else. If you want to be told your fine heres some pills have a nice day. This is the place to go!
