Fantastic experience: This fitness center is phenomenal! In addition to having a clean, well equipped premises, the owner is super nice and accommodating. My dues were lowered when I couldn’t pay the full amount. This really is a great place.

Positive experience: I have been a member here for over 10 years & I had no idea the name changed till I went to write this review. The staff is nice, when you can find them. However, the last three-four times I have been there I have seen personal trainers (not sure if they work there) training groups of people and they take over that area where the turf is. Their bags are everywhere, you can't even get on the machines were they congregate and when the trainer isn't training he is sitting on the machines. Then tonight when I was there I saw two people bring in their kids. It was evening time and the day care was not open and the kids were just running all over. I have a membership at another gym and that gym is spotless. This one could use a good cleaning of the machines. It seems they don't even dust them. Sorry to say but I don't think I will have a membership here much longer. The end of an era.

Negative experience: I used to be a member of this gym when it operated as Gold's Gym. My membership was canceled back in September 2023, marking the last time I visited the facility. Since then, the gym has undergone a name change to Coastal Family something, and despite my cancellation, they have continued to charge me every month. It seems they retained outdated customer information, leading to these unauthorized charges. When I visited the gym and discussed the issue with a manager, he acknowledged the accuracy of my claims. However, despite numerous calls and attempts to reach the owner, who never returns my calls, the gym refuses to reimburse me for the money they wrongly charged. This review serves as my frustration with their lack of resolution despite giving them ample time to rectify the situation and refund me for services I haven't used.

Fantastic experience: This is a good gym that I was a member of for a while- in reference to somebody else's question about it not being a Gold's, it's probably because Gold's raised their franchise fees substantially during covid, making it not make sense for some gyms to continue to have the name. I know the Orlando gyms also did the same thing, just changed to a private name instead.

Positive experience: Very mediocre gym. I used this gym (along with others) for about 2 years because my membership was paid for. They have everything you need for a great workout but prices are very high in comparison to many competitors. They claim to do this to keep it from getting crowded, and while I will agree that it does not get too busy, other gyms in the area such as EoS and Crunch have much more and much newer equipment to compensate. For example, the Crunch on Hillsborough has 12 power racks & deadlift platforms while this gym has 2 power racks and 1 deadlift platform and they charge a small fraction of what this gym charges. Overall not a bad gym but do not understand why anyone would chose a membership here when there are so many better facilities in the area other than lack of research.

Fantastic experience: Came in from out of town and my regular gym (Anytime) told me to stop by without my fob to get in. Well, those managers left early for the day so I was stuck. Did a quick search and found this gym. Ed was very friendly and accommodating, and helped me out with the visitors pass situation. He definitely went above and beyond. The gym itself has everything I need for serious weightlifting and then some. I would definitely recommend to anyone. On the flip side, I'll definitely be complaining to Anytime Fitness about how it accommodates its members who left their fob at home.

Negative experience: I was in the woman’s locker room getting ready as always and 2 male workers went inside without even knocking and proceeded to try and talk to me. They were trying to get a phone that they left in the WOMANS locker room, the phone was literally in the corner placed at an angle where you could barely see. They were trying to do all this while I was in the middle of changing. Absolutely unprofessional and weird. When I talked to the owner about this he just laughed it off. I had to cancel because I don’t like weirdos and they were probably taking videos.

Negative experience: Been going to this gym for 2 years now, but I’m getting sick and tired of how dirty the locker rooms are. The weights also smell rotten, if you don’t believe me, grab a 45 lb weight and smell it. This is definitely one of the dirtiest gyms in Tampa, if not the dirtiest.

Negative experience: My friend recently wanted to sign up for this gym and when I came with him, the front desk worker was making fun of him and being rude because my friends english wasn’t the best. This was honestly one of the rudest moments I had ever experienced, I’m not sure if the worker was the owner or just front desk, but it was really rude.

Negative experience: Be careful they’ve been recently charging people twice and continue to say it’s an accident, it’s happened to at least 5 people I know go to this gym.

Fantastic experience: Ed was extremely accommodating of me being in town for the day and needing a day pass, went above and beyond to get me a membership card so I could access the gym during unstaffed hours. Nice guy and really nice gym as well, clean and good selection of equipment.

Fantastic experience: A great place to be apart of. Clean, Spacious, and friendly community. Turf, Jiu Jitsu mats, free weights, machines, group exercise and inbody scans. I’ve been at Golds for a almost 2 years and work upstairs as a physical therapist. Watching Golds members consistency and supportiveness has been a blessing to be apart of.

Negative experience: Signed up for the 7 day pass, wasn’t In the system, and it took 30 minutes for the guy to sign us in at the front desk. And then he asked my friend and I how the 7 day free pass worked. When we said no he demanded we pay him 20 dollars to find out. Total scam and the worst part is the guy was clearly out of shape Trust me, I’m happy to not be apart of your gym too you keyboard warrior lol

Negative experience: I have called the manager, Ed Bogaki, asking for a piece of information required from the US Army for members outside of military locations to get the membership. The manager rudely attended my call, asked where I was located when I introduced myself as US Army Military, and even assumed my call was sketchy and hung out when talking to him. Highly disrespectful to a manager. Gold Gym requires better training in customer service, if he is the owner, I do not recommend it at all. I won't suggest this location to any military service.

Fantastic experience: Was a member here for about 3 years before I moved - only have good things to say about this location. It was well-kept, machines, staff was friendly and their was plenty of equipment/space. If you want to avoid the crowd of a Crunch or LA fitness, this is the place.

Fantastic experience: Really Good gym, Love the 24 hour access so I can always go when not crowded and clean wipes are always stocked in dispensers. Love the turf/sled area + they've added a platform for bumper plates and also newer Kettlebells. I never see staff (cuz I go late) but always see evidence of a well managed, clean facility. Only ask, heavier Kettlebells please!

Negative experience: If I could leave 0 stars I would, I drove 45 min to try the golds gym experience and was very disappointed barely any for legs and felt like a planet fitness, but staff was very nice but after entering I left and went to crunch fitness and had a much better workout

Negative experience: The gym itself has “almost” everything you could need, yet it is all from the 1900s. If you want to lift weights in a sauna powered by 16 other dudes sweating 4 inches away from you come here! :) I don’t know how anyone pays for a membership here nor how anyone works here for more than 3 weeks before quitting out of shame. I would be embarrassed giving a gym tour if i worked here.

Fantastic experience: John was excellent at providing me with information on how to begin a membership at Gold's Gym, Tampa. I was taken around the gym, shown the ropes, and explained the outline of the memberships and pricing in detail. I was delighted with how the gym was set up, and it was spotless. This gym has a lot of space for various workouts, a locker room for both men and women, a sauna, cryotherapy, and even spin classes!! This gym also provides access to members "after business hours" safely and is a 24/7 gym. If you are in Tampa, I would highly recommend this gym!

Negative experience: I had communication over text with Erica for 1 week about a 7 day free trial. When I arrived tp the gym to get started she asked me to set up a membership and GIVE HER my credit card. I don’t deal with companies that are shady and offer a tryout but then want your credit card, Also, she never mention I had to give them my credit card when we we were texting so it was a waste of time going there.

Negative experience: Overall the gym itself was okay except the lack of mask policy and minimal social distancing. The trainer I worked with was amazing and extremely flexible which was the only positive here. READ THE FINE PRINT. They require a 60 day notice to cancel your membership this is a gym not an apartment complex.That makes no sense to me. Who needs a large contract for something as simple as a gym membership. I’m getting money hungry vibes, save yourself the time and money go somewhere else. Charged me $120 cause I moved out of the city. it’s ridiculous.

Negative experience: This gym is not following social distancing guildlines, nor are they cleaning, just walk into the bathroom and see how disgusting it is. I called 2 young men out for not cleaning the equipment after they used it and management tells me to be quite and tell them.. Well I've told them on more then one one occasion and they do nothing. Apparently they had the cops called on them for something similar just last night. Do yourself a favor and stay as far away from this place as you can. They have no interest in your well being, their only interest is to make money. That's why they are the only gym in the area that is open. I have reported them to the DBPR and the Health Department but we all know how that goes.

Negative experience: Owner is not professional at all. The staff was friendly and the equipment is outdated and tightly squeeze but the worst was when the owner questioned my residency address when i went to cancel. As if it is your business as to why i live at home at my age. Crunch is much better down the street!

Negative experience: Two reasons why I quit this gym after I was told I was "grandfathered" into a $20 per month rate (member since 2008): 1. Trainer was flirting with one of the female employees at the front counter. When I politely interrupted them to order an overpriced protein shake from the girl and handed her my card, the male trainer jokingly asked if my card had any money on it and if it was going to go through. 2. Trainer took equipment from me I was clearly using and set down briefly in front of me, toted it across the gym so he could use it in his workout with his client. If youre looking for a comfortable environment, go elsewhere. This gym is for power lifters as many people are members because the weights have a higher range than most gyms. Also, you have to pay extra for 24 hour access. Two stars because, at the time, it was the closes gym to my house and they did resolve some issues for me nicely in the past.

Negative experience: They like using big words and numbers to trap you in a contract. I rather deal with a car salesman.

Negative experience: Make sure to read the fine print in the contract. I moved and was trying to cancel my membership, and it has been the worst experience. Two months notice as well as a $250 cancellation fee? Not to mention I drove all the way there to cancel in person and was told that it was closed (while the on duty manager was giving a tour during open hours and while people were working out). The gym and lack of equipment was not enough to justify this ridiculous cancellation process. At least with LA you just have to send a letter.

Fantastic experience: The professional are always considerate. When they say hello, they do it in a way that makes you think you are one of them, not just a client!!

Positive experience: Decent gym. Older equipment. Biggest downside is going during the afternoon to beat the busy hours only to find a school or class taking up a large majority of the gym. Just always seems busy and uncomfortable when they're there. Staff is super friendly though. Tony is great.

Positive experience: As an out of state Gold’s Gym member, I feel this gym doesn’t hold up to the standard of other Gold’s Gyms. There is a towel policy in place in order to workout. Either you must bring your own towel or purchase a towel to use on the equipment. My observation after working out here for 4 days was that this towel policy is only enforced at the door and not on the workout equipment. This made me feel like I was trapped to purchase a towel from the gym or not workout if I did not bring an extra equipment towel. The male locker room is not well lit, and the showers have barely any water pressure. I did not find it worth showering here. Lastly, a single day workout pass costs $20. Comparatively to other Gold’s Gyms, a typical 24 hour pass costs $15 and includes better amenities. To end on a positive note, the equipment is varietal. There are good selections of barbell equipment, dumbbells, seats, benches, cable machines, and a functional fitness area. I recommend this gym, but suggest a lower day pass cost and upgrade the male locker room.

Negative experience: be careful, there is a cancellation fee that they never told me until I wanted to cancel jjee and they charged me more than what I paid with the subscription

Fantastic experience: I decided to join Gold’s Gym when I saw a discounted rate on Groupon in August. I was mainly interested in taking the Les Mills group fitness classes. I met with a team member who offered me an even better deal then the Groupon I had purchased and got it refunded. After discussing my goals he thought I should meet a trainer there that had lost over 100lbs in 7 months Roberto Jimenez. Originally I had no interest in getting a trainer due to the cost. They offered me a discounted rate on the sessions and didn’t pressure me any further to train. I decided after talking with Roberto I could some instruction and encouragement and signed up. Training with Roberto has been amazing he switches the workouts up and even has me doing moves I find fun. I’ve been doing moves and increasing my weights in a way I’ve never thought I’d be able to. Roberto is a really good person and very encouraging and tells my progress in real time “wow you could only do like 10 seconds of that previously before giving up, and now you just did 30 at full strength like it was nothing”. It’s not only good job, but instead actual feedback on specific moves or increase of added weights to machines. It was obvious from the beginning that Roberto cares and hearing his personal story of weight and seeing his pictures from before in very inspiring.

Fantastic experience: I moved to the area, joined golds gym, and COOKIE was my appointed personal trainer. And it was great health at first sight. Two months in ...13 pounds down, body fat % down, blood pressure down and lean mass up. Love her except on leg days

Fantastic experience: About 2 month ago I started my training with Cookie! So far she been everything that I could have asked for in a trainer! She motivates me, encourages healthy habits and always suggest great tips that truly are effective. I really do feel blessed to be able to have a trainer as understanding and friendly as she, I’m so glad she’s by my side as I go through this journey!

Fantastic experience: I recently moved to the Tampa area and have had the privilege of being trained by Cookie for the past few months- it has been one of the best decisions I have made! No matter how I feel when I get there, her enthusiasm and support throughout our sessions gets me motivated and gets me through! She is always willing to go above and beyond to provide tips on how to live a healthier lifestyle and make small adjustments to see big results. Fantastic experience: I have been working with Cookie for three months. I really love how she trains her clients and not only cares for them as clients but as a friend truly sharing knowledge, motivation, and structure. She always has great tips to share in all my individual needs of my fitness journey and life. I love attending Gold’s Gym with her by my side, I would recommend her to anyone 110%!

Fantastic experience: I lived in Tampa over the summer because of an internship I was working. I’m a collegiate athlete and I really needed a trainer that could train me to increase my performance in my sport. Yahed was nothing short amazing. He offered me valuable advice and gave me critical feedback to increase my form on several power lifting techniques. I saw increases in strength in several areas and was able to adjust my training to be more efficient because of Yahed. Definitely recommend him!

Fantastic experience: After going to Gold’s gym I feel so much more confident and comfortable with myself. I learned my limits and what I’m cable of doing to help my body. Cookie was so much help and she showed me different techniques and helped me see my true potential and was an execellent guide. She was so helpful and encouraging. I’m glad she was there to help me because if she wasn’t I would have given up and just left.

Fantastic experience: Gold's is such an inviting place to be. Cookie is so awesome! She really made me feel confident going to the gym and now I have a membership. She is super motivating and I love when I go and she is there!

Positive experience: Doing the free trial and so far so good, but really don't like how this gym is much smaller then most, but charges around $30 a month to bring a friend when most gyms only charge $20. Also I don't like that I have to be in a year contract, situations in life happen that people can't control, but to keep charging a customer regardless of the reason their leaving is just wrong. Also they need a 60 day head notice before leaving, I haven't even joined yet and I can already tell that this gym is pushy, and money hungry.

Fantastic experience: I had the best welcome from Edwin at the gym, this guy is the best and made my one session very pleasant. The gym has anything you should need for bodybuilding: two squat racks, a very good incline press, all the benches you'll ever need, every standard machines and a great crossfit area. The coaches are nice guys also.

Fantastic experience: I'm focused on feeling good physically. I go to Gold's even 30mns. and it helps to lift my spirits. It's a simple formula, that works for me. Thanks Ed & staff.

Negative experience: Have been going to gyms for more than 10 years. Place look a little filthy on the restrooms and some places; needs better cleaning. But one major problem. How can you have a Gym with just one equipment for calves; just one in the entire gym (There are other equipments missing). I think this gym needs an upgrade and someone that can analyze the small space and rearrange it better.

Fantastic experience: I did personal training at Golds Gym with Dimitri and he is the best. I lost an overall 15 lbs and body fat. At first I did not notice the difference as you dont see results but others who know noticed and I started getting compliments. Everyone was asking me what Im doing and saying how Ive Lost wight and look great. Dimitri pushed me and held me accountable to my workout plan , healthy diet and regimen.

Negative experience: Awful communication. It took me over 2 days to get a response from the president saying he couldn't tell me the cost of the gym unless I came in. Terrible experience with the team. I couldn't imagine giving them any money if they are so dispersed in their communication and non believers in the internet. I will gladly take my money else where since they do not want it.

Negative experience: The women’s bathroom here has some terribly disgusting elements to it. The shower curtains look like they haven’t been changed in 10 years, there’s dried snot, what looks like dried blood, and an array of other disgusting stains on them. I don’t get it, shower curtains are less than $10, why do they not have a policy to change them regularly? I bet if you leave a stain on one of them you will find it after three years... horrendous. The other thing is the area by the hair dryer and the scale in the women’s rest room. It looks like no one has bothered with that area in decades. There is dust and stains galore you almost want to throw up after getting on the scale or drying your hair. Such stains could be very easily fixed by a simple wipe down every other day. I just don’t get it. I will remove this review if I notice that anyone has started to give a darn about the cleanliness of these two areas

Negative experience: The owner can be volatile and unpleasant when he's having a bad day. The place feels old, but appears clean.

Positive experience: Ive been to alot of gyms. This one is clean and comes with all you need but I wish they had a place to do deadlifts.

Fantastic experience: very clean gym, helpful friendly staff that always greet you if they are at the counter when you walk in. never really packed at all which is nice vs like a LA Fitness. updated equipment and plenty of it. and very reasonable with price and super laid back atmosphere.

Negative experience: By far one of the worst and unfriendliest locations. Staff walks by with ugly looks on their faces and if they don't see a towel in your hands they immediately attack you for "mandatory" towel policy. My towel was in my gym bag. So rude. Will never come back.

Negative experience: Do not do not do not trust the people that work at this gym, ESPECIALLY omar. He come off as this happy go lucky friendly type but he is a SCAMMER!!! He not only lies to the customer, he lies to the OWNER Ed! I did not like my trainer ron after the first few weeks i started with him so i told omar I wanted out, I reminded him that i MADE SURE i would be able to if i went ahead and tried a personal trainer when omar started me at the gym. He could not deny that he told me this so instead he convinced me to try another month with ron, i did so for 4 months with me telling him i want out at the end of every month and he kept telling me to try another month. I found out from ron (who i witnessed on 4 different times is a bully to the other ppl who work at the gym, shane, who had to leave after awhile of it) that the owner found out i wanted to leave the training after 1 month TOLD OMAR TO LET ME STOP the first month, Ed is a nice person but has BAD ppl working for him! so, like many others on her i find out after a year gone almost, omar DID NOT cancel my membership so im getting charged again, He said he "forgot to cancel me after i requested" when i called.

Fantastic experience: Best gym in town. Plenty of well kept up equipment so you aren't waiting to use everything even during peak times. The staff is friendly and the gym is clean.

Negative experience: Tried out this gym since they offer a free week pass online. Went in to activate it and the staff was not friendly or helpful. Didn't give me a tour or explain the facilities at all. The girl who was activating my pass started speaking in Spanish to another coworker while she was in the middle of my transaction, so rude!

Guest privileges. I currently have a membership for over a year and had no complaints, I've been on crunch, planet fitness, youfit, my experince at golds gym on waters is by far the best. The owner is always on the floor(HANDS ON MANAGEMENT) omar great attitude and always willing to accomodate their guests necessities. Ron best trainer ever. Dont look around for other gym, go straight to golds gym in waters ave. (I dont have any affiliation to them other that my membership)

Fantastic experience: Where do I start, this gym is what I think about when I think of the perfect gym. It started with the location and excellent location, so close to my work. It quickly moved to the awesome energy and knowledge that you get from the trainers here, they are eager to help and will to take time with you. Also they understand what you are striving for and they WILL get you there and further, while having fun. Roberto is my PT and he is focused on helping me achieve my goals and makes every session challenging (& somehow fun). My fitness has increased noticeably and I’ve seen improvements in my ability to complete more core exercises, lift progressively heavier weights & generally push myself harder throughout each session. I find I actually look forward to my workouts now thanks to him. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a personal trainer!
