Augusta Health is a community-focused healthcare facility that aims to provide quality care at a lower cost compared to other hospitals in the area. The hospital's clean and organized environment, coupled with a dedicated staff, has impressed many patients who have shared their experiences. Key highlights include:
- Attentive and Friendly Staff: Numerous reviews commend the compassionate care received from nurses and doctors, with particular praise for emergency room staff who acted promptly during critical situations.
- Efficient Emergency Services: Many patients reported quick assessments and action during urgent visits, particularly highlighting the speed of services such as CT scans and lab work.
- Supportive Care Team: Personal stories reflect a strong emphasis on patient care, showing staff that go above and beyond to ensure comfort and recovery.
- Clean Facilities: Reviewers noted the cleanliness and state-of-the-art facilities, enhancing the overall patient experience.
- Good Food: Patients often express satisfaction with the quality of food provided at the hospital during their stay.
However, there are areas for improvement that have been noted by some visitors:
- Inconsistent Care Experiences: Some reviews indicate variability in the quality of nursing care, with instances of unprofessional behavior from certain staff members.
- Long Wait Times: A number of patients reported long wait times in the emergency room or for outpatient services, suggesting a need for more efficient processes.
- Billing Concerns: Issues regarding billing communication and confusion about charges have been highlighted in several reviews.
Overall, Augusta Health serves as a vital resource for many in the community, providing compassionate and attentive care while still addressing areas for improvement to enhance patient experiences.
Augusta Health: Reviews
Fantastic experience: I've had a very good experience here the staff is wonderful, place is place is Is sterile and clean. I've actually received help. Went to rockaham memorial twice last It was pretty very badly and didn't get the help I need was diagnosed and treatment started in 40 minutes here
Negative experience: I had a spinal fusion surgery in Oct 2024 at the age of 41. I am still not sure how I will recover considering I have had 2 major setbacks since surgery and it's less than 2 months after surgery. I have had to stay in the surgical unit for over a week in total. Most of the nurses were very attentive, but I was appalled by a nurse by the name of Beatrice, because she couldn't find the time to help me because her other 5 patients had greater needs than myself. I hope.no one ever experiences this. After 3 hours of her being on the clock I never saw her. I'd had never been assigned such an awful nurse. I am certain my.experience would've been so much better if she had been competant nurse who can handle 6 patients. Not to mention how badly this iv was done.
Fantastic experience: So easy to talk with, teacher, knowledgeable. Young in age, however, wiser in his field. Can't say enough about this man. Impressed by his example.
Fantastic experience: of the 4 hospitals in my area i have had care and operations at 3 of three. augusta is is the best of all.
Positive experience: Hit or Miss depends on what person you get.. good experiences bad experiences
Fantastic experience: This past Thursday ( on my first day of vacation in another state!!) I was in severe GI distress with severe epigadtric pain, nausea and abdominal pain. I’ve never felt that bad in my life. I was scared I had an obstruction due to no real motility since Monday. My husband took me to Agusta Health ED. I’m an RN and I’ve spent many days in the ED with my mother, my father and my husband for THEIR issues, but I’ve never been on the receiving end. The staff was extremely friendly, caring and compassionate! I was seen immediately. Had IV access and labs done within about 15 minutes of my arrival. Within an hour I was in CT and thankfully, the WONDERFUL Dr. Lambka told me it was negative. He then prescribed multiple IV meds and soon I was feeling sooo much better. The nurses were SIMPLY AMAZING AND CARING!! I’ll follow up with my own GI doc in NC, but I cannot RAVE enough about amazing and attentive the staff at Agusta Health Emergency in Fisherville,VA were!
Negative experience: I took my daughter to the ER because it was past office hours at her regular pediatrician's office. She had been having coughing and cold symptoms for weeks with little success from cold medicine or Tylenol. When we were finally seen I mentioned that my daughter seem to have similar symptoms for" walking pneumonia" and the ER doctor just smiled and "thats been in the news lately". Later on, an X-ray was performed and nothing was said about it and I had to mention that she could use a new prescription for her inhaler. Basically left with nothing done while she is coughing her lungs up. Well two days later she's still coughing up her lungs and has a fever that the school nurse had to send her home. I made an appointment with her regular pediatrician's office and the doctor on duty reviewed the X-ray that was done at Augusta health that was in her chart he could clearly see there was a spot on her lung that indicated pneumonia. Why was this not seen by the ER doctor?? The nurses and other staff were great but this is unacceptable the disregard for someone's health. I'm sure there are many great doctors there who actually care but at this point in my life I'm not taking chances! Never again! I'm going to UVA or Sentara from now on!
Negative experience: Apparently, you cannot see a new doctor within their practice even if you are an established, recent patient, without being charged an office visit and wait months just to get in for a “new patient” visit where they simply go through all the records they already have. Now I have an unanticipated bill because they did not communicate to me until I was face to face with the doctor that my visit wasn’t a checkup. I’d taken time out of my day & made arrangements to sit in there and go through stuff they already know. And now have to pay for it It isn’t the patient’s fault if a doctor leaves: this needs to change. Would not recommend!
Negative experience: I recommend RUNNING away from this hospital. I went into the ER here because I have a neurological condition called POTS which one of the many symptoms it causes are tremmers which I now deal with every day to some degree. I have been diagnosed with it by 3 medical specialist including the mayo clinic after extensive testing. I gave the Dr my diagnosis which was the reason for my tremors which had been extra bad for 3 days at that point. This Dr put in my medical records that he thinks I am faking my condition and it's Psychiatric. He didn't ask of I see a Psychiatrist, which I do. She has seen my tremmers and has tried to address them. After multiple attempts and discussing my symptoms we have concluded that I am correct on what the cause is. I have tried to contact the hospital to address this and they always act irritated at me. Make accusations against me, and then hang up on me. I ask them questions and they fail to answer them. I talked to an attorney about if they are allowed to do this and they said it is medical Malpractice. I also asked for them to stop people that I know has access to these records so that they won't brush me off and gaslit me due to the lies the Dr put in my records, and they refuse. This is a violation of my rights to privacy. This has put my health and possibly life in danger. The attorney I contacted literally said they have had to sue this hospital before. If you value your health and honest kind medical care. PLEASE run as far and as fast as you can from this hospital. They are dangerous. Update, after trying over and over to contact them to get other providers removed from having access to my records here which is my right to do, and they refused, called me an asshole, claimed I called them a liar, which I never did, hung up on me over and over, gaslit me. They had an enforcement officer call me. This hospital is DANGEROUS. Monique Houser has been the employee so disrespectful and abusive. She even claimed when I asked for her last mane so I could report her that they aren't allowed to give out last names. That is so obviously a lie and makes her even sound guilty.
Negative experience: The billing department at Agustin health will run you around in circles!!! I have spoken to 5 different representatives at the billing department and they have given me 5 different answers on how to address a name change with insurance. I have worked in medical billing and it shouldn’t be this hard!!!!
Negative experience: Awful in every way imaginable. Wednesday went in to the ER Thursday had an unscheduled surgery. They didn't manage my pain, listen to me at all didn't even give me grippy socks so hours after surgery I tried to go to the bathroom ended up falling. Was gonna stay a second night, I refused because I'd rather be home in pain than there in pain. I went there cause it's closer than UVA. Never again I'll make the drive. Summary of the story horrible care.
Negative experience: This has to be the most rudest hospital I've ever been to. They must have that qualification listed on the application and far as cleanliness. Very dirty and nasty. They just leave stuff laying around for the next person to pickup. Would not recommend this hospital at all!!!!!!
Negative experience: I was sent here to give birth from the shenandoah women health clinic. I went in for my check up and was sent to the hospital in need of a c section. I was not impress with the hospital at all. They do not have enough staff to cover the amount of patients they received. I kept asking for my pain meds and they kept forgetting to give them to me. It took two hours for them to bring me tylenol, because they got busy and forgot. They were also in such a hurry to discharge us they forgot to have us sign the birth certificate. We had to turn around and come back.
Fantastic experience: My wife suffered from anaphylactic shock unexpectedly on 9/26/24. From the moment we entered the ER, to the time of discharge, I can't give enough thanks and praise to the entire team that worked on her! Because of the severity, there were at least 7 individuals in her room making sure that she was treated immediately and getting her stable. It was a very stressful time for both my wife and I, but was amazed at the level of care and expertise of the entire staff! Thank-you so very much! Her life was in your hands, and your team excelled!
Negative experience: Don’t take your loved one here. Some of the rudest people I have ever met work there They told my wife Wednesday she most likely miscarried but couldn’t tell her that for sure even after doing blood work. Told her to come back Friday for more blood work and then told her she is pregnant or possibly could be a ectopic pregnancy but couldn’t tell us for sure either way To the woman that took her blood and was so rude to her, go find a new job if you hate it that much. We ran into the same issues when we had our first baby, she had to have a c section and had so many issues after it. We should have never went back. I feel bad for the good nurses that work there because there are some really great nurses, but there’s also alot of rude mean ones.
Positive experience: As an ex ER worker for 8 years, I have to express my concerns! Never ever at the hospital I worked at did a patient not visibly be seen for 3 hours in a room not waiting room a room! Nor did a EMT come take someone out of a room to have a procedure without a doctor telling patient what was happening or what is was for! Never ever did a nurse relay what orders showed and not a doctor! Disturbing is all I can say!
Negative experience: To the lady named Holly who answered the phone before 8am in the Radiology department, find another job. When somebody calls to make an appointment for an emergency ultrasound, have an actual professional answer the phone because getting rude saying that you don’t know and then laughing when somebody’s asking serious questions about their actual life, is not okay. You are a joke.
Positive experience: Clean, spacious, and easy to get around. But the parking is a pain.
Negative experience: If I could give Augusta Health Hospital a zero I would. I’m just going to speak about a few of the things that happened after being admitted. (1) While putting my elderly husband in a bed, the nurse on the cardiac floor did not put the back of the bed up and when he got in the bed he fell hard back on his back. (2) His white blood count was high and they wanted to release him and I appealed that he should not be and the nurse seemed to be mad. (3) The anesthesiologist refused to give him anesthesia for a colonoscopy because he may have a second heart attack under anesthesia. He said my husband needed a transfusion first (thank God for the anesthesiologist) and I heard staff make a comment that an anesthesiologist shouldn’t have more authority than a doctor. However, the anesthesiologist is exemplary. (4) Nurse took husband who was having a transfusion out of his bed & rolled him to another room in a wheelchair & left him without plugging transfusion back in. (5) Same nurse tied rubber band around his arm causing blood to squirt out of his arm several times. (6) There is more and I wrote them about it. (7) Just because patients are elderly does not mean they deserve poor care. Shame on Augusta Health Hospital.
Fantastic experience: Great care and professionalism from the medical staff during my hospital stay.
Fantastic experience: My family has been using Augusta Medical for our medical needs for the past year. Most recently my grandson was born at the hospital. I am impressed with the care he and my daughter received. The staff is caring, kind and attentive. The nurses, doctors , lactation specialist housekeeping and people working in the Blue Ridge Cafe were awesome. We had a wonderful experience and appreciate the top notch care our family received. Thank you all for helping to make this experience so wonderful. This hospital is an hour from our home and there is another hospital 10 minutes from our home but we are very happy with our daughters decision to come to Augusta Medical. Thank you all for being the caring people you are.
Negative experience: Not a good health place to recover at it's a place to throw a bandaid on nothing serious
Negative experience: Had to come here for labor and delivery from Shenandoah Women’s Health in Harrisonburg because the new contract they have (felt like being forced) and I’d recommend to stay far away from this Augusta hospital if you’re pregnant. I planned to have epidural they never gave me even though it was planned 24/48 hours the day before I arrived at the hospital. It was very utterly traumatic experience I had to go through. Even though I complained at the hospital, they said I never said anything. They never gave me pitocin or epidural and they were charging me these hospital bills and I asked for itemized bills and they never gave me them. They lied about their timelines and gaslit me that my statements weren’t true or that I’m lying when I know I wasn’t because my husband was next to me the entire time. My experience with Sentara labor and delivery was way way better the nurses and doctors were very professional and know what they’re doing.
Negative experience: The outpatient in Stuarts Draft has zero care for their patients and the nurses are rude and no bedside manner.
Fantastic experience: I had Doctor peerless replace both knees at the same time. It went very well. I was there when 6/1/24 and Michelle was the head nurse. I wish I could remember all the nurses names that they went above and beyond and were excellent. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Negative experience: RN laura, RN Erika and two other labor and delivery RNs that I had first during labor were 10 stars. Beautiful souls the care was amazing they were happy helpful and attentive.Everyone after that first 30 hours (3 shifts) was about a 2-3 star .
Negative experience: Dr. Cox was extremely rude and disrespectful.
Negative experience: This hospital definitely doesn't deserve more than one star, and honestly, if there was a zero option, I'd choose that. Our visit there was a total nightmare. We rushed in because my 13-year-old son was practically crying from the intense pain in his ears. But instead of prompt care, we were stuck waiting for an unbearable 2.5 hours in the waiting room. Finally, when we were seen, it took an additional 50 agonizing minutes for the doctor to make an appearance. And get this - after barely asking us two questions, he hastily concluded that my son needed antibiotics (beraly looked at his ears) . He promised to prescribe them for us to pick up at the hospital's pharmacy so we could start treating the infection right away. But guess what? nobody came after this!!! After 45 min waiting I stoped by the nursing station and asked for the prescription, it was 12:05 am, then I was told that "unfortunately I should look for the prescription somewhere else", becouse the pharmacy had closed five minutes ago! Can you believe it? So, thanks to their incompetence and lack of concern for their patients, my poor son had to endure a whole night of pain. Trust me, if you value your sanity and well-being, steer clear of this hospital.
Negative experience: Another fatality ain't nothing to these people as long as they can keep scanning your bracelet. They have enough hospital staff for ONE laboring mother. While he's delivering one got 3 nurses lying to the other
Negative experience: DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! THEY WILL MISDIAGNOSE YOU!!! THEY DID TO ME! TERRIBLE WORST HOSPITAL EVER. STAFF IS POLITE, NURSES ARE POLITE PROFESSIONAL BUT THE ACTUAL DOCTORS OR PHYSICIANS ARE THE WORST CARELESS EVER IN LIFE. I HAVE A HERNIATED DISC AND INJURY TO HIP AND BEEN IN AND OUT OF THIS HOSPITAL BECAUSE THEY DONT HAVE ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE OF BACK AND HIP INJURIES. EVERYTIME I LEFT HERE I’M BACK BECAUSE MEDS PROVIDED WERE NOT HELPING. TRUST DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU HAVE A SERIOUS CONDITION. PHYSICIANS ARE THERE FOR A CHECK THEY DON’T CARE ABOUT YOU!!
Negative experience: Obviously came in by ambulance with an obvious dislocated jaw and shoulder pain so bad they don’t even care nurses nor doctors I’m still waiting I been complaining nothing
Fantastic experience: Can I just say as a mom with an anxiety over my child health they not only was king and caring and reassuring but extremely sweet and loving towards my child! They told me if I had any questions to call them after surgery, I had a moment at 10:30 at night with him running a fever and complaining of pain. I called the hospital and within 10 minutes the surgeon called me back at 10:40 and reassured me everything was fine and would be okay. Extremely caring. 10/10 recommend. So much better compared to RMH or other places. They are extremely good with children as well!
Negative experience: I am giving this place a 1 star based on my experience with the doctor who orginally denied me of my symptoms and eventually gave into doing some testing and found out how bad the results were. Story below. I went into Augusta Hospital after leaving Augusta urgent care who also had a terrible doctor thus the reason why I went to the ER. I told the front desk I had excruciating pain in my left leg that I could barely walk and have all the symptoms of a blood clot. They took my vitals and put me in a room. I was seen by Dr Karen O'Brian. I explained the constant pain that's been going on for 3 days and how I took motrin, advice Tylenol, and nothing is easing the pain. I also told her I believe it's a blood clot and how my brother had one that moved from his leg to his lung. She examined me and said, well there is no swelling or redness, it's probably a pulled muscle or a Charlie horse. I stated this pain is too great and I know it's not the muscle. She stated, well we will do an ultrasound to rule out the blood clot and then you can follow up with your pcp. I stated again that I know something is wrong it's not a muscle. She stated, yeah sure, we will see about that. Well the first test was an ultrasound (a very sweet young lady) who asked me, is this were it hurt? I stated yes and she confirmed I indeed had a blood clot in that area I have been complaining about. They did more test and also found clotting in my lungs. After all the test were completed, Dr O'Brien finally came back into the room fully shocked and said you do have blood clots. Not only in your leg but in your lungs too. She never apologized about the rude comments she made and how she doubted I even had any clotting based on no swelling and redness. I'm not sure who taught these doctors in the hospital and urgent care, but I hope they have learned from this experience because I could have died if I was not constant and firm about it being a blood clot. Both doctors wanted to send me home. I'm not sure why both doctors were doubtful in the first place. I'm not sure if my race was the reason but I hope they learned that all patients will not have the same symptoms and to take what the patient is saying more seriously. If I didn't have a brother who went through this experience, I maybe dead because they would have just sent me home.
Negative experience: Most of the hospital staff is great the lady I’ve talked to every time I’ve called the main hospital number is rude and unprofessional and laughs at you when you ask a question that she feels is common since I called to check on labs she asked who the ordering doctor was I told her she laughed and then proceeded to tell me I had to get on my chart I tried to explain that these test results weren’t showing up and I knew that the results was in because I had been contacted about them just was for sure what my levels where and again she laughed she makes it seem like a she hates her job
Negative experience: My mother was in the ER Wednesday night all night long doctors were set on getting her transferred to another hospital that was capable of caring for her wounds and blockage in her leg (that wasn’t at max capacity) which uva denied her so the next one up were Richmond and Roanoke. Was also told she had blood clots in her leg and dry gain green in her toe. All of the sudden after shift change the new doctor that came in proceeded to tell us she was being released. That she did not have blood clots but her toe would need removing “eventually” as I was told. I asked a nurse who were the doctors that were trying to get her sent to another hospital all night were they vascular doctors or just emergency doctors was told “I’m not sure I just came on shift” she could have easily looked to tell me but chose not to. Needless to say she is still in severe pain and has infection in her foot and her limb is slowly dying. So this review will be continued at a later date
Fantastic experience: Critical care staff in the ER were top notch. My sister had a serious seizure. The entire staff that helped with her was caring, kind and genuine.
Fantastic experience: Let me start by saying that usually only people who had a bad experience comment. My visit tonight was exceptionally well and put me more at ease. There are Caring people from the intake personnel all through to the discharge nurse and everyone in between . Dr. O'Brian was head and shoulders better than expected. You can tell she really cares about her patients and there well being. Thanks to all in the Emergency room tonight.
Fantastic experience: Great ER experience tonight for my autistic adult son. Staff were friendly, helpful and professional!
Negative experience: I went to the emergency room after a fall. I had dislocated and broken my shoulder. I waited an hour in the ER and when finally admitted THEY LOST MY CHART so could not give pain meds. Finally got meds and xrays. The doctor failed to put my shoulder back in and sent me HOME with a dislocated and broken shoulder! I had to go to an orthopedic the next day who found out that the shoulder was broken. I was referred to UVA where REAL medical professionals reduced my shoulder. My shoulder was out for TWO DAYS because of the complete incompetence of Augusta Health which made my suffering and ultimate reduction more difficult. The ER doctor admitted she did not know what she was doing! I had to go back to the ER the next day because it was 4:55pm and the hospital would not do a CT scan. They had me go to the ER so they could charge more. Now I may need surgery due to their incompetence. I have lived here 28 years and they have always been a terrible organization. All they care about is marketing, "customer service" and ratings. The best service they offer is hospice (which is really awesome) but what does that tell ya? Called patient rights advocate twice and left voicemails over week period. NOBODY RETURNED CALLS. Finally sent an email and received a call back. She took my info but no resolution.
Negative experience: Very disappointed my mother passed away Jan 6, 2024 they went into her room before any family went in and told her she was gonna die. What a terrible thing to do to a patient. My mother went into the hospital Dec 22, 2023 on Dec 25, 2023 I called the hospital 3 times to find out how she was before my brother got out there I was told the nurse would call me back nobody did it at All!!! Dec 26, 2023 called to check to see my mother was and again was told I would get a call back did not happen!!! Dec 29, 2023 called to talk to nurse about mom laid in messy diaper all night and nurse gave her a pill she choked on just was told I am sorry!!!! Dec 31, 2023 called to get nurse to change her 45 mins later the nurse came in she could not walk so she was unable to walk to bathroom or take care of herself!!!! What a joke this place is!!!!!!! Day shift was good night shift awful!!!!!!!!
Hi Ms. Bradley, please accept our heartfelt condolences on the passing of your mother. I wanted to check in to make sure you were able to speak with someone regarding the concerns you mentioned. If not, please let me know and I can make sure you are able to speak with someone directly. Our thoughts continue to be with you and your family.
Negative experience: Only give birth here if you’re 100% sure that you’re having a healthy baby. If anything goes wrong you will have nurse practitioners and doctors telling you things that might not even be true, go to UVA. The “nursery” here is extremely bright and unwelcoming, the nurses 99% of the time won’t even give you a chair to sit in. In fact, most of the time they’ll act annoyed by you even visiting. If you want to be traumatized to the point you can’t forget one tiny detail, go ahead and give birth here. Having a baby should be a beautiful memory, coming here will be anything but. If you want to pump and provide your nicu baby with milk- this hospital will not even offer you soap to clean the parts with. The nurses say rinsing with water is fine, it’s not... (This hospital also for some reason cannot afford to provide baby wipes. They’ll give you rough dry wash cloths to wet in your sink to wipe your baby with. Avoid! Seriously, if you care about your baby and yourself- do yourself a favor and give birth somewhere that cares about you both. )
Negative experience: My roomate had a seizure and hit her head. They gave her a CT and didn’t even tell her about the concussion nor did they treat it. Oh and they didn’t believe us about her having a seizure. Their diagnosis was “passed out.” I do not recommend.
Hi Lillian, I hope your roommate is feeling better today. With the one-star rating, I would suggest your roommate contact our Patient Relations team so they can gather more details about her incident and the care she received to see what could have been done differently by the team treating her. Our Patient Relations team can be reached by emailing [email protected] or by calling 540-332-4893. Thank you, and continued well wishes for your roommate's health.
Negative experience: Head nurse is rude and spiteful, will punish the family for disagreeing with her. One minute your not ready to discharge, they need the bed, and out you go (specially if you are a Medicare). Outside of the head nurse, the nurses and most of the doctors have been polite and great
Negative experience: I don't understand how this facility can call itself a compassionate community provider when it takes months, not days or weeks, months to see a provider or get outpatient diagnostic testing. You will end up in the ED or dead because you can't get the care you need when you need it. UPDATE: 3/4/24: and again..... MD ordered diagnostic exam 2 weeks ago. Finally got call this morning from scheduling and given appointment for July 25th!!!!!!! I'm sorry, this is just ridiculous and unacceptable. Is anyone anywhere is this facility listening the "community" they profess to provide for?
Hi, I am hoping our team can help you with scheduling if you still have not received the appointment you need. Have you called our scheduling team at 833-242-4584 for assistance? Thanks, and please know we are here for all people in our communities!
Negative experience: THIS IS NOT FOR PEDIATRICS!!!!!! I took my daughter into the ER two nights ago with respiratory distress. It was videoed! I have 3 videos proving she was in distress which is why I rushed her in. I showed the videos to the nurses at the front who agreed and she was still showing signs when they were trying to get her oxygen levels. Were struggling. When we saw a doctor 30 mins later I tried to show the doctor the videos and he dismissed me. I then said she had just had a test last week to test for covid and rsv for a cold she has not been able to shake for weeks. All negative. He asked me questions like if she was autistic,I said non verbal but no diagnosis shes 5.She was crying and kept gasping. He barely listened to one side of her back said she was clear and he would order a Rsv/ covid / flu test even though she just had one. came back with a Popsicle. She was tested- Negative. Sent home. We Left at 1am. Today at 11am we found at her peds with an X ray given she was absolutely NOT CLEAR in her lungs. She had over four spots on her Xray. Her Ped was Appalled the ER had not ordered an X Ray as it would have been found immediately the reason for her distress. Will never take her back to Augusta. Im Halfway between Augusta and UVA I will go to UVA from now on.
Hi Nikki, we are following up to make sure you were able to share your experience with our Patient Relations Team. If not, they can be reached by emailing [email protected] or by calling 540-332-4893. We appreciate your feedback, and want to make sure we have all the details. Wishing you the best of health in the new year.
Positive experience: I am writing this review on taking a loved one there to the spine clinic. Obviously in pain and bent over, I feel that the check in/out people could have offered a wheelchair when sending him for x-rays. Also the earliest to be seen for a follow-up after waiting for an MRI, over a month out? Seriously, how long should a person be in pain and miss work? I think all of this is ridiculous.
Fantastic experience: Gwen in radiology scheduling was quite possibly the most amazing, kind and compassionate scheduler I have ever spoken with.
Thank you, Keely, for rating your experience and for the kind words about Gwen! We appreciate you for sharing your appreciation and hope you are doing well!
Fantastic experience: Family member recently had surgery done by Dr. Turza and the entire process went perfectly. The level of care the staff provided around the clock was off the charts! There is a sign posted out front that says: “Heros work here”… as a veteran I wholeheartedly agree. Thank you all for the wonderful services you provide for the rest of us… ~ Hand Salute! ~ V/r, Mike Corrigan LCDR(Ret.) USN
Hi Mr. Corrigan, thank you for your service to this country! And thank you for sharing your experience, we are so thankful to have Dr. Kristin Turza as one of our surgeons. She plays a crucial role in many people's lives using her surgical skills and exceptional care. We hope you are doing well, and wish you the best of health!
Fantastic experience: Best staff!!! I gave birth around 11-7-2023. Nurses and care was wonderful. Y'all are doing amazing thank you for the good work. God bless all of y'all and thank you for taking such good care of our baby boy.
Congratulations and thank you for taking the time to rate and leave a review about your experience. With the birth of a baby, it is a busy time! We wish you and your baby boy the best, and please know we are here for future healthcare if needed.
Positive experience: My visit with surgeon was great but ended there. Went to lab waited close to hour 3 people ahead of me one patient called back other people waiting disgruntled. No one came out to say sorry for wait time short staffed nothing. May have something to do with 2.8 rating.
Negative experience: Bleeding excessively and they leave me in the waiting room for almost two hours. They had no urgency and the staff was honestly to concerned with their social lives then the well being of the patients at check in. Terrible.
We are sorry you had a 1-star experience, but please know we are here for you and your healthcare needs. Our patient relations team is always looking for ways to improve, so thank you for sharing your experience.
Fantastic experience: I was a vice president at the old RMH for 22 years. However, they did not take my Medicare Advantage provider, so I was forced to go to Augusta Medical Center and was very pleased. From the Emergency Department (hardly any wait) to Cardiology Services to ENT Services, everyone has been super friendly and efficient. Staff (doctors, nurses, and others) have always spent good, quality time with me.
Thank you so much for rating your experience with Augusta Health! We appreciate you taking the time to share the departments you visited and that everyone you were in contact with was helpful and friendly. We wish you the best, and know that our team is here for you!
Negative experience: They let my father die, and made no effort to get fluids in him, or provide nutrition. Made us believe he was ready to be moved for PT, but they knew he was dying and wanted him to do it elsewhere. They wouldn’t listen to the fact he had symptoms of a stroke, each healthcare worker would give you a different answer about his injuries. He had no idea what was going on, and when asked why they hadn’t been giving pain medication for broken bones in back, and a broken pelvis was met with “he didn’t ask for it,” he wasn’t able to even ask. They shoved him over, pushing on his broken pelvis, because the worker didn’t even know it was broken. Was left in a urine soaked blanket, while they laughed and visited with each other. I sponged him off, they left feces on his body, under his nails, and dried blood all under his beard. Had to constantly go in, or call just to ask them to do the basics. Found out before he was moved that they knew he couldn’t feed himself, but was just leaving a tray, and picking it up untouched. They seen an old drunk that wasn’t worth their time, and he essentially starved to death. By the time we got fluids in him it was too late, and he was too weak, because he was malnourished, and dehydrated when he was finally brought in. This hospital will let you die
Hi Destiny, we extend our sincere condolences for the loss of your father. When you are ready to share more information, please reach out to our Patient Relations Team by emailing [email protected] so they can work through your concerns. Thank you.
Negative experience: On 8-13-23 I went into labor at 35 weeks pregnant. The doctor came into the room looking like he had gotten no sleep, wearing a Superman tshirt, and said “either way the baby is coming out do you want to do the c section or you can try for a natural birth.” After I had already planned for a c section months in advance. I shared my concern about the placenta possibly being cut since it was low lying, he said “it doesn’t matter it’s coming out”. Ok- sure, I was in early labor and just anxious. Fast forward to my c section, while on the table it was taking a while for my partner to enter the room, the doctor then stated he better hurry up and that too many times he’s already had the babies head in his hand when the partner gets there. During my c section my bladder ended up being adhered to my uterus due to having a prior C-section years ago, this wasn’t disclosed to me at all until 3 days later. The days I was there I felt like I could barely get up (no one ever came in and helped me, or helped me shower.) I also felt as though I couldn’t tell when I needed to pee, I asked the nurse if I had a UTI, she ignored me. I was in an unbelievable amount of pain (literally, the nurses didn’t believe me) and spent almost all my time at the hospital in tears. I don’t know if the nurses get some type of reward for arguing about pain medication, but when you’re trained to do so - there’s no good interaction when you finally do get handed pain medication. My nurse on 8-15 for example came back into the room saying “here! Isn’t this what you wanted? HERE it is.” Onto my son, my son was born at 35 weeks gestation, weighing 5 pounds. He was immediately looked at and they said okay lungs sound great, color is great- here you go. He was put on me and not taken from my room for over 12 hours after that, his hands and feet were purple. He wasn’t taking a bottle or feeding, the liquid was pooling in his mouth. The nurse told me, I just wasn’t feeding him right, push the bottle further into his mouth (as liquid was pooling in his throat.) She also told me it was my fault his temperature was reading low. Over 12 hours later he was taken out of the room and it turned out he was having apnea issues, unable to regulate his body temp, and was given a feeding tube because he was unable to feed on his own. I guess it wasn’t my fault? How many times did my son’s oxygen drop in the room with me, we will never know because he wasn’t monitored for over 12 hours. Augusta does not have a certified nicu, nor doctors that are specialized in neonatal care. They use Hospitalists and nurse practitioners. My son stayed in their makeshift nursery for a few days while each doctor was on a different page then the one that was last on shift. It was extremely bright where he was kept and there were rarely chairs, it wasn’t welcoming at all. At one point the nurse practitioner brought up him having sepsis, then brought up him possibly being both male and female. I kept bringing up a transfer to UVA, it took days of being told “we feel we can handle this here.” before he was transferred. Everything she was guessing about my baby was wrong. Once moved he almost immediately had improvement, we finally saw him opening his eyes (it’s not recommended to keep newborns or premies under bright lights…) it honestly felt like we were in the first world again. It was the most welcoming environment, and the communication was top notch. The care was like night and day, completely amazing, I couldn’t believe we dealt with Augusta the amount of days we did and I felt and feel sick for my baby that had to go through nonstop stress and wishy washy care. We brought home my baby 8/31 from UVA and he’s only gotten better. My care at Augusta feels like something from a nightmare, it doesn’t even feel real looking back on. The amount of trauma I felt and still feel from that experience is disgusting and shocking. I honestly could go on and on with our story and experience with this hospital. Just AVOID at all costs. They do not care
Fantastic experience: My husband had knee surgery as an outpatient. It was an excellent experience. Everything went smoothly and ever staff member was wonderful. Very caring and professional.
Thank you so much, Cynthia, for sharing your recent outpatient experience. We wish your husband the best on his road to recovery after his knee surgery!
Fantastic experience: Brand new building for mammograms. Very pleasant staff and very pleased with the quick mammogram. Very nice technician who explained every step in the process.
HI Janice - We are so pleased you had a pleasant experience, thank you so much for reviewing and I will be sure to share with our Mammography Team!
Negative experience: Great doctors. Like I literally couldn’t thank them enough for the care they showed my husband. My husband had a brain injury in 2015 and has a lot of trouble understanding and figuring things out on his own. And so when I brought him into the ER for GI issues, I tried to assist the front desk nurse in explaining things to him and giving her the appropriate answers. It doesn’t take a genius to have a conversation with my husband and know he has some sort of disability. The two front desk nurses (one older lady and one younger guy) were absolutely rude and hurtful to my husband. They gave me no opportunity to explain WHY he doesn’t know some things or or anything. The woman would cut me and him off when he staggered and stuttered through his answers. The male nurse was appalling, you’d think being in the medical field you’d learn not to stare at someone with difficulties, but nope. He gawked at my husband as he flustered through his answers and she sighed and rolled her eyes when he didn’t understand and needed time to power through her rapid questions. The security guard on duty clearly had more compassion than either of those TRAINED PROFESSIONALS. Before we could leave the desk and make our way to the waiting area the security guard had already written up a visitor pass for me and handed it to me with a very sympathetic yet apologetic smile. We sat down and I watched the lady shake her head and type away on her computer before standing up walking over to my husband and shoving his band in his face saying “here, now make sure it’s spelled CORRECTLY!” He was embarrassed and ashamed over something he can’t control. The only reason I’m rating our experience a two star rating is because the AMAZING doctor my husband got once in the room. He explained my husbands diagnosis to us both and then once again, slower and easier to understand just for my husband. We’re not rude people, I never leave reviews and in all honesty I probably wouldn’t have left a review, that is until we left the ER. Once we passed the waiting room my husband turned to the two nurses from the beginning and waved goodbye saying “thank you so much!” And when I turned around to grab his hand and usher him out the door I saw them roll their eyes look at each other and snicker. (please note, it was not with sarcasm as my husband does not have the ability to be sarcastic, his thanks were genuine as he felt extreme appreciation to the hospital as a whole not necessarily them) and here’s the thing… that female nurse was old enough to be my mother, acting like a teenager cracking jokes at someone different. She should be thankful I didn’t cause a scene. I really hope both nurses learn patience and empathy when dealing with patients. It makes me sad to imagine they may have treated other folks this way. I urge anyone who may need medical treatment, make the extra drive to UVA, the whole UVA team are filled with rockstar nurses and doctors who genuinely treat their patients with respect. Augusta Health should take notes.
Negative experience: They took FOREVER to take care of me. They hung up on me when I asked for something to drink. It was unbelievably rude. They act like they care but loligag too much. I went to tell the nurses I was leaving and the MALE nurse told me that he was blackboxing my account. I told him go for it I'll just go to Charlottesville.
Hi Jayda, we would like to have more information about your experience. Please consider emailing our Patient Relations team at [email protected]. This will allow us to better understand your frustrations. Thanks, and wishing you the best in health!
Negative experience: My husband went in to get an infection drained from him and I waited over 8 hours for him to get discharged from the emergency room so needless to say I’ll NEVER EVER EVER go there again please if you really want to get good medical care go to UVA and not this mess of a hospital but btw the people there are nice and helpful but in all fairness they really need to work on there efforts at the ability to be quicker at being more efficient
Hello, we recommend sharing your husband's experience with our Patient Relations Team by emailing [email protected]. This will allow our team to gather more information. Our Emergency Department Team is here to treat each patient they see, we wish your husband the best in his recovery.
Negative experience: Covers up and ignores patient issues with provider. Very serious experience totally ignored… UVA from now on!
Fantastic experience: I had my twins by emergency c section on February 2nd. I had excellent nurses. They took excellent care of my babies while in nicu. I call it nicu it was a nursery, but still they were in incubators. I absolutely loved my doctor who did my emergency c section, his name was Dr. Larsen. I had the best nurses I could ever ask for. Augusta health treated me like family and the 3 days I was there for the birth I only rang my call light once and when I did I had someone right in my room. I want to thank all the staff there for the great care. When I was admitted back a few days after my surgery for pre eclampsia and my feet were so swollen they put me on the labor and delivery floor so I could be with my babies. I would definitely recommend that hospital over Va Baptist any day. The food there is amazing!!! Thank you again to all the staff members on the labor and delivery floor for the excellent care of my babies and they are now 4 months old as of June 1st. Thank you so much. Then and now pictures of them :)
Hi Whitney, thank you so much for sharing your experience with our Obstetrics Team and Dr. Larsen. We appreciate you taking the time to share not only about your care but also the adorable photos of your twins. We wish you all the best and please know we are always here for you!
Fantastic experience: Dr. Ranzini is a wonderful Dr. He and his whole staff took very good care of my family member for the time he was there with his leg issues ( about 6 months), I strongly recommend this hospital to anyone that needs it. This whole staff is very patient, sweet and does their job. Thank you
Thank you, Jennifer, for your rating and for your recommendation. Dr. Ranzini and the rest of Augusta Health Wound Healing Team are outstanding! We are glad they were here to help your family member with healing. Wishing you and your loved ones good health.
Fantastic experience: Everyone has their own opinions on the hospitals! Ours is on the good side! 2 times my husband has been to this hospital with in a few weeks of each other and both times everyone was wonderful! Today, Rosey the nurse who cared for my husband is very good at what she does! You can tell she really cares about her patients and she is so sweet! Lauren (np) was great! Love her personality, she doesnt sugar coat nothing and she is funny. She also doesn't rush or treat you like your basic trash like some docs or n.p.s do! And the orderly Ethan is such a sweet kid! His parents are doing a great job raising him! Have to say from check in to check out was a good experience!
HI Stacie - thank you for recognizing our staff! We are so fortunate to have many talented team members, and so glad Rosey, Lauren, and Ethan made an impression while you were here with your husband. We hope he is doing well and we wish you a wonderful summer.
Negative experience: The ppl answering the phone give out very misleading information concerning little kids health care. Don't trust what they say on the phone.. record conversation!! Literally called at 1pm and didn't get called bk till 8am next day concerning a visit to er w my 9 year old lil girl. We were advised by the doctor the er originally advised us to see.
Fantastic experience: Took mom in to emergency room to be checked out. Everyone was so polite, respectful and kind. Thanks to Madison our main nurse for making our stay as pleasant as could be.
Hi T.D., we hope your mom has fully recovered and is doing well! We appreciate you sharing your experience.
Fantastic experience: Mỹ husband is from Myrtle Beach. He had heart issues on April 1st while visiting Staunton and went to August Health. They saw him immediately and took extra good care of him. The Dr called his Dr here in MB. Thank you everyone that took care of him that night and the cardiology team. Great medical staff and associates.
Hi Cynthia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your husband's story. We are immensely proud of how our Emergency Department and Cardiology Team work together to treat those suffering from heart issues. We hope he is doing well, and please know, we are here if he needs us!
Fantastic experience: Arrived in the ED at 3 am with a fractured toe. It stuck straight up and hurt like crazy. I was seen very quickly and got some pain meds fast. Doc and nurses and ex Ray tech took great care of me. Was in and out in 3 hours
Thank you so much, Keri, for sharing your experience in our Emergency Department. We hope your fractured toe has healed and that you are having a nice summer!
Negative experience: Me and my wife came here the morning of March 31st for our daughter to be born. She was due for a c section that went very well the surgeons and the pediatricians were very careful and professional about what they were doing. However, later on that day we had parents from both of our families come for visitation. We were unaware that me being the father I was considered a visitor and we had my mom and dad in the room with us at the time when all of a sudden a medical worker her name was Jody came in the room going off on all of us for not following the visitation restriction. She was extremely rude and unprofessional totally ruined the wonderful family moment that we were having and the memory we all wanted to remember as a family. I hate to let one bad apple(or a few considering we have had few other staff members come off very rude towards us and our families) ruin the bunch but I highly doubt we will be back here again.
Negative experience: Show up for outpatient surgery only to be greeted by very rude volunteers. Then after finding someone to help me, I made my way to registration only to find when I was leaving they was making rude and nasty comments about it being a fast visit. Then they call where I’m coming, and I’m greeted with oh, you just came from there. Like haha you’re already a joke to us and we don’t care about how you feel. UVA has never made me feel this way. Ever! Also. Augusta Health (owner) I know you see ever review, why is it you only comment on the good ones? Why are you not trying to help the ones you allow your staff to hurt???
Positive experience: I would give the hospital a five because everyone has been so nice and helpful until tonight. It has been 1.5 hours since requesting pain meds for someone in extreme pain. All it takes is something like this to lower the score. Unfortunately this score will reflect all the other people that have been amazing. Sorry to them because we really appreciate them. I hope the hospital addresses this problem.
Hi Ms. Wagner, thank you for sharing your recent experience with us. Please reach out to our Patient Relations Team to share your concerns by emailing [email protected]. We want the best for you and all our patients so please share with this team so we can make the necessary changes. Thanks, and wishing you the best.
Negative experience: At one time this would have been five stars easily. This morning I’m at the ER. Trying to paint a picture of the ongoing abdominal pain for past five days. Not to this ER Doc. Just get to the point snapped Dr Phillips Last unhappy experience was Dec. 30. Scheduled for colonoscopy/endoscopy. Did prep. Up for 36 hours. Oddly I noticed I was the ONLY person in outpatient surgery. I had some concerns about the prep. Instead of the doctor, the little Muslin lady, coming in to talk, I was literally booted out and on my way. What did Dr. headscarf care, SHE WAS LEAVING AUGUSTA. Apparently the priority was to clear everyone out of the hospital pronto so the big move to the new outpatient clinic could get underway. Any inconvenience to me was incidental. Needless to say, the colonoscopy has been rescheduled for UVA as will any upcoming procedures.
Fantastic experience: Very nice and caring. Took care of us in a time of need. Shannon went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of.
So good to hear you were well taken care of, thank you so much for sharing your experience!
Negative experience: Went to ER and couldn't breathe well, asked for a CAT scan on my nose, they said no:some Dr from blue Ridge community college: I though I was the one paying the bill, nose spray and went home:no help: ended up having severe nasal surgery
Hi Mr. McPherson, we wish you the best in your recovery. I would like to suggest that you contact our Patient Relations Team by emailing [email protected]. You can share with them details about your experience, and they will be able to review and assist with your concerns.
Fantastic experience: This review is LONG overdue, and to say I am impressed is an understatement. My girl smashed her finger in the door - and it was bad. When I saw it, I knew that finger was going to be lost. Obviously, by the time I got her to the hospital, everyone's nerves were shot. Upon arrival, some nurse appeared out of nowhere - and within seconds they had her in a chair, blood pressure and sensors attached, and was getting care - LITERALLY, SECONDS. I was of absolutely NO help whatsoever, and I am grateful they were on the job. The entire team was great - the security guys were patient with me about moving my car, they sent an attendant into the room to stay with us, nurses visited every 5-10 minutes, and the doctor on hand was amazing - had her numbed up in no time, x-rayed, and on the phone setting up a specialist. They sent us to Charlottesville to see a specialist, and within 45 mins we were there, where a plastic surgeon, Dr. Rachel Park, saved the finger. I cannot say enough about the quality of care we received here, and we are so very grateful to everyone who helped us - your work DOES make a difference. THANK YOU, a million times over.
We are so delighted to hear your daughter's finger was saved and we continue to wish her well in her recovery! Thank you so much for sharing your experience with our Emergency Department team, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story.
Negative experience: This hospital is a JOKE. Doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been here previous it’s like they don’t take notes as to which medication they provide you, there is NO organization with their staff. Literally seems like they ONLY keep ONE RN downstairs in the ER. We literally had been waiting 2 in a half hours in the waiting room before going back just for FRONT DESK TO ALLOW OTHERS TO GO AHEAD IN FRONT OF OTHER PATIENTS.. The lobby excuse was because those other patients wasn’t being seen what I was waiting for.. then once we got in the back to a room several nurses & such asked the same question repeatedly didn’t do much but provide more “fluids”.. Lobby stays so busy to the point there is NO WAY Covid is being prevented in the areas.. it’s very unsanitary, yet somehow all their patients get shipped to UVA & you’d wonder why…
Negative experience: Their reviews speak for themselves. Just got off the phone with the collection agency and paid 3x the amount for the procedure that would cost me 3 times less anywhere else. Disgusta health.
Fantastic experience: I can say that they treated me good and took great care me from the emergency room and I was admitted to the 2 floor and the staff there took great care of me also I would like to thank the emergency room doctor his name was Dr.Jack Breaux he was awesome and he continued to check on me and the nurses were great also just to many to remember and name & the surgeon Dr Mark Andres as he was also a part of the team who took great care of me so thank you for everything ..and thank you for dedicating your life to medicine and to healing people thank you..
Hi Katie, thank you so much for the rating and for sharing your recent experience at Augusta Health. I will be sure to share your message with both Dr. Breaux and Dr. Andres as well as our Chief Nursing Office so she can make sure everyone knows how appreciative you were of your care. We wish you the best!
Fantastic experience: Had an appointment to see my Dr., Dr J. Otteni. I was seeing him in Staunton, VA, new office opened up in Harrisonburg, VA...ROAD TRIP!! Arrived earlier than I expected, Lyft Driver..did her thing. 10 minute wait and was seen 15 minutes before appointment. X-rays and a meeting with the Dr...my last visit. I was told ankle is healing as expected, but it may take up to a year for a full recovery. Dislocated ankle and fractured leg. Ankle feels good, some swelling but that is expected. As long as I am able o Mountain Bike ..everything is all good.
We are truly fortunate to partner with Dr. Otteni and his team. We thank you, Michael, for sharing your experience and hope you will be back on your bike soon!
Negative experience: Not even a patient yet and my experience has been a frustrating one. I've been trying to get an appointment set up with Augusta Neurology. I called the scheduling department and spoke to an incredibly nice person. They gave me the fax number and said they would look out for it. I called my doc to have it sent over. A week later, I hadn't received any follow ups. I called scheduling again - another person told me they don't see anything in the system and to call the neurology clinic. I did- *three times* over the course of a week and a half asking if someone would just call me back to at least confirm that it was received. I did receive a call back after the third voicemail. Of course, this time, I wasn't around to take the call. The voicemail left for me said that they had not received my previous two voicemails and that it would take some time, but they would need to go through their pile of referrals. Later in the day, they left another voicemail for me- they couldn't find the referral. They also mentioned that the fax number on the website was wrong and maybe that's why it wasn't received. The fax number I had been told by two different people in the scheduling department (and what was posted on the website) was different than the number than what I was told by someone in the neurology. Perhaps, someone can get that updated? Maybe? Possibly? Save some poor unsuspecting soul who is already in immense pain they same aggrevation I've been through? I called my doc again last week to give them an updated fax. Confirmed with them before calling neurology dept that it was faxed. I called Neurology a little while ago and was told it was not in their pile of faxed referrals. I was really hopeful that I would have a positive experience with Augusta health- especially after my first pleasant phone call with the sheduling department.
Negative experience: I have received the worst care imaginable here. Was not helped (or even acknowledged) while wailing from my pain waiting for a room to be admitted. This took a couple of hours. Several very painful surgeries later and all of them failed. After these procedures I had several follow up appointments that were much more painful than necessary. My surgeon was condescending and had poor bedside manner. For some reason he felt the need to explain my condition every single time I came in like I had forgotten what was wrong with me. Then, for no reason at all my payment plan was cancelled. I had to go back in and fix it. Deciding to seek care with a new surgeon at UVA was the best decision I have made. I will not be returning to Augusta nor will I recommend them to anyone.
Positive experience: I was there for a week with Covid pneumonia. Very thankful for their help and attention and the food was very good.
Hi Judy, thank you for sharing your experience and we hope you are feeling much better now. And we are certainly glad you enjoyed the food!
Negative experience: You gave me the wrong medication and an ambulance had to pick me up and after ER I went into Agusta Health hospital who sent me to Harrisonburg Rehab nursing home to learn how to walk again.!I was there the month of December many articles about elderly abuse at center Currently working with lawyer!!!!
Negative experience: I am young (early twenties) and was diagnosed with a hyperkinetic gallbladder. All research online said that removing the gallbladder would most likely eliminate symptoms. Saw Augusta Health Surgery Department, the surgeon decided that I was “too young” and my condition “wasn’t bad enough yet”. Thankfully I went to UVA. I will never go to Augusta Health again.
Fantastic experience: Hello my name is Randy and my friend was nice enough to let me use his account to share my experience. I was admitted through the ER last Tuesday with a mass on my left side. From the ER to the hospital everyone was nothing but great. I would like to recognize a nurse Meri who took very good care of me. When I rang the call bell she was always there within seconds. The food was always great. I believe the nurses, doctor's and surgeons are number one. I remember talking to security because I was afraid my car would be towed in the ER parking lot and they assured me that it wouldn't be. Thank you. Thank everyone there.
Hi Randy, I will be sure to share your review with our administrators so they can let their team members know how appreciative you are for the care you received during your visit. We thank you for taking the time to submit a review and wish you the best of health.
Negative experience: I had super bad ear pain due to a ear infection and it took them a long time for them to help
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We do our best to see patients as quickly as possible. If you need to schedule another appointment, please call the office directly at 540-245-7010. We hope you are feeling better!
Negative experience: I would do a negative amount of stars if that were possible. DO NOT GO TO THIS EMERGENCY ROOM!!!! Was there for 8 hours and saw a Dr for 3 mins and never saw one again. Only saw a nurse after repeatedly using the call button and 1 finally showed up and this was after 5 hours of being there. Nurse "delivered " test results not a DR and had no answers to questions and just handed release forms and basically said get out.
Hi, I would like to recommend that you reach out to our Patient Relations Team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 540-332-4893. Our Emergency Room is dedicated to our patients, so by sharing details about your experience with our team, we can review your visit and adjust to improve for all so there is more interaction. Thanks again for sharing and wishing you the best.
Negative experience: I have been dealing with the same infection sinse january have gotten 3 different results gave me the wrong meds and when i called to get answers the people the i talked to was very rude and un careing they kept me in waiting room from 830 pm to 10 pm then in a room from 10 till 530 am which in my opionion is uncalled for
Hi Mr. Plecker, please reach out to our Patient Relations Team by emailing [email protected] or by calling 540-332-4893. This will give you an opportunity to share all the details of your experience with one of our team members who can then work with the specific department involved. Thanks so much for reaching out to us so we can work through this together with you. Wishing you the best with your health.
Fantastic experience: To whom it may concern Augusta medical has provided a great service to me but I would like to take a moment give Tammy Shipe of the billing department my most profound thanks for her patience and working with me. If you work with Tammy please give her a pat on the back for me! Hope y’all have a good day. Gerald Cubbage
Gerald, thank you so much for sharing your experience and for the special shoutout to Tammy! We will be sure to share with her how thankful you were to have her helping you with your billing questions. We wish you the best and hope you have a wonderful day too!
Positive experience: The website states that 2 people at a time can visit ICU patients. The security and staff at the entrance to the hospital are only allowing 1 person at a time. We have a large family and our mother is very il. It is difficult to switch between 1 at a time. We would like to say our goodbyes in case it is time. Please update your website or on-site staff to the correct policy to avoid confusion in the future.
Thank you for sharing your experience. Our website was updated with visitation information effective this past Monday morning so I can see where that would be confusing for those visiting over the weekend. We will remember that for future updates. Thinking of you and your family and thanks again for reaching out to us.
Negative experience: I went to Augusta Health Outpatient for blood work on the weekend of 6/12. I didn't know it was only done Monday - Friday. The person at the front desk response to asking if the hospital did it on the weekend was "I dont know", to when do they open "I dont know" to my subsequent questions. She seemed impatient and was not pleasant or willing to help.
Hi Celeen, yes, laboratory services are only offered Monday - Friday. Thank you for sharing your experience so we can ensure staff members on-site are aware of operational hours for services. Here is the link for future reference https://www.augustahealth.com/service/urgent-and-telehealth/urgent-care-check-in/. Thanks again for letting us know and we hope that you were able to get the labs you needed taken care of this week.
Negative experience: I had to come to the er and all the nurses I had were very kind. If I had any questions they answered them and explained. I’m very thankful I came to amc
Hi Jesse, thanks so much for sharing how helpful our nursing team was during your visit. We hope you are feeling better!
Fantastic experience: This is a Community Hospital that offers great service at a much lower cost than other hospitals in the area. While many hospitals are considered nonprofits, the billing and financial aide of Augusta Health reflects this unlike the other so called nonprofit hospitals. While there are many procedures that Augusta Health doesn't offer, I would highly recommend them for the more run of the mill procedures such has joint replacements, births, COPD/CHF exacerbations, and other general illnesses. If you need treatment for more complicated procedures such open heart surgery or brain surgery I would likely consider UVA. I worked at AMC for many years and had all 5 of my kids delivered there via C-section. Augusta Health is a true blessing that many in the community take for granted.
Negative experience: I have to say that this emergency room doesn't care about it's patients. My fiancee went in for severe admoninal pain. He was horrible sick for 3 days. They gave him 1 iv. No antibiotics. My fiancee told them my grandfather had a stomach bug. they did no further tests and told him he had it as well. We get his discharge papers and they said it was colitis. Which is it? They wouldn't even help him when he pressed the help button. They said they were going to do all this blood work and they didn't do any. Thanks Augusta Health... you wanted him to write about a good nurse to recieve and award?? Hahahaha. Go learn how to have better bedside manners... I'm so disgusted we will be going to UVA or Martha Jefferson.
Negative experience: WORST PLACE!!!!!! took my baby there and they couldn’t draw blood to save their lives .. they were fishing for veins having my then 4 month old SCREAMING to the point where she threw up , got mad and walked out the room leaving the needle and little basket full of supplies in the room . the doctor was extremely disrespectful. will never go there again. if i could i would leave a negative star review
Hi Demi, our Patient Relations Team would like to discuss details about your experience to better determine what occurred during your visit. Please email [email protected] or call them at 540-332-4893. Thank you and we hope your baby is feeling better.
Negative experience: I am so very ashamed of the blanton lies a person is given upon being "serviced" as a patient. This past Monday I was taken in to the ER because I was experience severe pain. I had had other symptoms as well but the pain was extremely intense. One person draws blood for blood work. 6 tubes were taken. It was left on one of the tables in my room. IT NEVER MADE IT TO THE LAB. I was told it had been checked but I just got the word from my doctor and NO LAB WORK WAS DONE I was Moy yo nr admiyyrf .I was to be discharged so I could return nome. The time was around 2pm on Monday afternoon.i am a bed ridden patient at home..I need personal hygiene which was not done. When I ask .. t smaller briefs were applied because no larger one was on the floor. I wasn't given drunk or anything to eat after 2 because I had been discharged. I never returned home until 9 am on Tuesday morning. I will find another way for my medical need before going back. AMC DOES NOT CARE

Fantastic experience: My mom has had both knees replaced @ Augusta Health. I brought her home this Wednesday 1/27 from the last replacement. Dr. Esteban and the entire staff that cared for her were exceptional. Thank you to all the health care hero’s, you are making a difference & my family appreciates all you did
Hi Tracy, thank you so much for your words of encouragement and thanks to our healthcare workers. Dr. Esteban and his team are wonderful, we appreciate you sharing your experience. We wish the absolute best to your mom as she recovers!
Negative experience: The worst place in the history of misdiagnose ever. If you want to go some place to receive actual help go to RMH or UVA. Specifically UVA. DO NOT GO TO AUGUSTA HEALTH. They’ll “HELP” you and misdiagnose YOU and they will “HELP”’ you. Please for heavens sake don’t go there.
Mr. Wright, I encourage you to reach out to our Patient Relations Team to share your experience. They can be reached by emailing [email protected] or by calling 540-332-4893.
Fantastic experience: Came in at 1:30 AM with severe kidney pain. I was seen immediately. Cat scan done immediately. Wonderful kind people. Especially Jay. She just came here to the US. She's very kind & attentive. Didn't feel the iv she put in. Dr. Was great too...Keep up the good work guys. Peggy Bella & husband Chris xoxo *Update* Was back in er 2 weeks later for same issue. Was treated as a top priority. 20 min wait at 10:30 pm. Dr Adam Belsches was awesome. A+all around in my book.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience and we certainly hope you are feeling better!
Fantastic experience: Wonderful hospital. I requested that the paramedics take my mom to UVA but they said because it’s an emergency they had to take her to Augusta. I’m so glad they did. The care we’ve been receiving has be outstanding. It’s a beautiful hospital and my mom raves about the food. (Haven’t personally tried it)
Erika, thank you so much for your review. We appreciate the kind words about the care provided and the yummy food served. Sending continued well wishes for your mom.
