Fantastic experience: This was the best decision I made choosing this doctor. I had absolutely NO pain after surgery. None! He uses a pain pump for pain management after surgery and it worked! I wish I would’ve done this 20 years ago! I can’t express enough good and positive things about the procedure and him and his staff. Best decision ever!

Fantastic experience: I had a fantastic experience with Dr. Kumaran and his team. They went above and beyond to get my procedure covered through my insurance. They were extremely professional throughout the entire process. The doctor even took additional steps, not required, to ensure that the very small scars were hidden and not obvious. (he hid one of the scars inside of my belly button) I would definitely recommend Arch Bariatrics for all of your gastric/weight loss needs. I had my procedure on August 12, 2024. Attached is my before photo from October 2023. I have lost 60 pounds from August 5th 2024(day before starting my clear liquid diet) until September 24th 2024. (Approx. 6 weeks) The only regret I have is not doing this sooner!

Fantastic experience: I’m very happy with my choice of doctor for my gastric sleeve. When I had a question the patient advocate was quick to respond. When I had my procedure I woke up with barely any pain. I haven’t had any problems with my surgery. I’m 5 weeks out I’m down 30 pounds and I feel great.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Kumaran is so great. He really made me feel like he really cares for his patients. I had hit my wits end. I couldn't walk or stand for any period of time. My husband has a fatal disease, and I needed to take care of him. How was I going to do that when I couldn't even barely take care of me. Dr. Kumaran has given me hope again and a new lease on life. I am on my way to being a healthier me and a happier one, and I can actually do my housework and take care of my husband. The staff at Arch bariatrics are the bomb. I traveled over 3 hours to have my gastric sleeve done. The whole office has been amazing. I had many questions that were answered quickly. I had a gastric bypass revision due to a hiatal hernia in 12/2023 but have been with Arch Bariatrics since 5/2019.

Fantastic experience: I am several hours away from Dr. Chinnappan's office, but his team made the entire process very easy. They helped me do alot of the appointments virtual or via phone. I couldn't ask for a smoother process. Everyone in the office is very knowledgeable and gave me all the information for the diet restrictions and informed me of the entire process. I never have to reach out to see what I can or can't eat as everything is provided in their documents if you take the time to read thru it. I used the onsite dietician for my supervised diet required by my insurance and she was great also. I am not one of the people that lost 50 pounds the first few months, but that is ok! I feel wonderful, not in constant pain, and just plain healthy now! Your health is important and this tool is a great step in the right direction. I would recommend Dr. Chinnappan and his team to anyone!

Fantastic experience: I did my research on a lot of surgeons, and I felt extremely comfortable with Dr Chinnappan. I had my surgery 9/11/23 with zero complications. The staff is super helpful. Fantastic experience: This surgeon is amazing, fast, and efficient. I feel the same about all of the support staff in the office. My experience was easy and the entire process, from my first phone call to my surgery date was less than 2 months.

Negative experience: This place is a joke. They lied on paperwork. I have copies from my insurance company. They didn't answer insurance phone calls nor returned them. They didn't help me at all. All they had to do is do their actual job including this surgeon. If he knew what he was doing then he would have sent me to get tested for acid Reflux since that was one of my complaints. Now I got approved from the insurance company. That's because my current surgeon and his Staff know what they are doing. Their jobs!

Fantastic experience: I had to travel a few hours for my surgery. Dr. Chinnappan and his staff made me feel right at home. Surgery went well and I was taken care of like family. I am almost two months out and have lost over 60lbs. No scars at all. Every question has been answered quickly and I just can’t say enough about the great staff he surrounds himself with. 1000% recommend. Thank you for helping me change my life. -Tonya

Negative experience: I'd advise against Dr chinnappan if you are older or have acid reflux. He prioritizes sleeves even when bypass would be a better outcome based on patients needs and age. This is done because he can do multiple sleeves in a day and it is more profit since the bypass takes a little longer. He is now refusing to even consider revision for a patient who has only had their acid get worse and they cannot keep anything down for months. This is neglect and the patient has to find a new doctor to correct this so they can find relief. His suggestion was to talk to their primary about acid reflux medication and they have tried EVERYTHING. Now going to find a new surgeon.

Fantastic experience: Currently 1year out Jan 30th 2024 from gastric sleeve. Before and afters posted! Ya'll I could not be happier from start to finish with my surgery and my results! The staff, Dr C., zero complications, and help is there every step of the way. I've never had one person be too busy to respond quickly or be rude in the slightest! I have experience slight hair loss, but with proper nutrition and vitamins I am working to restore that issue. Everything has been very smooth and I'm 1000% satisfied!!!

Fantastic experience: My insurance company suggested Dr. Chinnappan’s office for vertical gastric sleeve as they are a BRS Certified bariatric center. The staff was very helpful navigating me through the insurance qualifications needed for the surgery. Monthly nutrition goals were provided to help me understand the correct way of eating and preparing my body for surgery. They also provided my post op meal plan 3 months PRIOR to surgery. I had plenty of time to study and learn the pre and post-op eating plans to better prepare mentally and physically for the changes that would occur with my body. Dr. Chinnappan has a very no-nonsense approach to what you must do as a patient of his. In speaking with other members in my support group, I have found that he better prepared me with the Do’s and Don’ts and Forevers of the program a lot more than some of the members of my group were prepared by their surgeons. I am grateful to have Dr. Chinnappan give such detailed instructions for what I needed to do to be successful in this endeavor. My healing has been relatively quick and dang near virtually pain free since leaving the hospital. If you are serious about VSG or any other bariatric surgery, I would recommend Dr. Chinnappan, but you, the patient, must be willing to do the work. He will provide you with the tools and guidance for success but you must have the same All-In attitude, as well! This has been a very positive experience for me and one of the best medical experiences I have ever had.

Fantastic experience: I have struggled with my weight my whole life.This year I reached my heaviest at 220. Dr. Kumaran, did my husband’s gastric sleeve surgery last year. He lost 134 lbs. I was approved for the sleeve one month later and had surgery on April 17, 2023. I am currently seven months post op and down 107 pounds. Fantastic experience: I lived in New York where I had the lapband inserted. I moved to Missourt in 2017. After 12 years, the lapband slipped. I researched a new bariatric physician in the Missouri area in 2019. I am very thankful to have found Dr. Kumaran Chinnappan, MD, FACS. Dr. K took an xray and determined the band slipped, which was causing my pain. After removing the band and healing, I had the sleeve surgery about 12 weeks later. Since my surgery was not covered by my insurance I considered going to Mexico because the cost is so much less. I am so glad that I did not make that decision. While I have not had any complications, I can not imagine not having access to follow-up visits after a weight loss surgery. Dr. Kumaran has a kind and supportive bed-side manner and all of the office staff have been the best to work with through my weight loss surgery journey. He performed my surgery on May 5 and I am officially 1 month out. Recovery has been great, and he was readily available when I had post op questions. Additionally, I literally have nearly no scarring at all. You can barely even see the two small places where he made incisions on my abdomen. Skilled staff, skilled surgeon. Also- in the hospital, 2 of my 4 nurses told me they had also done surgery with Dr. Chinnappan. They chose him because of the way he cares for his patients not only in-person, but behind the scenes. Fantastic experience: Dr. Chinnappan and his team have been fantastic from day 1. They were always ready to answer any questions I had. Surgery went well, and I had zero complications. I had my 6 month post-op appointment today, and I'm down 66 lbs! My only regret is that I waited so long to finally take charge of my health.

Negative experience: Several co workers had mentioned they were doing gastric sleeve surgery through Arch and said it seemed like a good place. So I figured I would give it a try. The $11,111 price is an absolute lie and SCAM. By time I had met with Dr. Kumaran the price had increased 3 times for a final total of $15,111. I had also been guaranteed by Josie it would not be over $14,611. LIES LIES LIES from this place.

Fantastic experience: The entire office staff is so friendly and helpful. They are great at replying to emails and phone calls. Dr. Chinnapan is one of the BEST doctors I have ever had. He provides such great care. Answers all questions with answers that are easy to understand. He genuinely cares for his patients and that is shown in the care he provides!

Fantastic experience: I had the gastric sleeve done in November of 2020. It was the best decision I have ever made. I went from 330 pounds to 175. While losing the weight is great, gaining self confidence and self love has been the best part. I have realized that I actually love pushing my body to do new things now. I have completed numerous 5ks, 10ks, half marathons, a full marathon, triathlons and will be competing in my first half Ironman in September. Having this tool has helped me come to respect and love what my body is capable of doing now. Dr. Chinnappan and his staff are absolutely amazing. They have always been so kind and so encouraging. Dr. Chinnappans bedside manner is so nice. He remembers little tid bits about you and really takes interest in your weightloss journey. Fantastic experience: I was terrified about my weight loss decision and hesitated to even call to ask questions. After calling a few places and receiving rude customer service I was about to give up. Thankfully I tried one more time and found Arch Bariatrics! From the very first phone call I was treated with respect and with the most caring customer service I have found. Everyone was super nice, professional and caring. My questions were answered and my fear disappeared! The staff, Dr. Kumaran, the hospital, everyone was amazing! They took the time to answer all my questions and never did anything without explaining it to me first. I had my surgery 4 weeks ago and even though it is a scary process, I am comfortable knowing my team is just a phone call away to answer any question, give me tips and be my support. Fantastic experience: I had my surgery this summer and just had my 6-month checkup, I'm down 51 pounds since my surgery. I'm getting around much better at the age of 52 I'm working out and able to stand on my feet all-day at work without pain. This surgery is a tool, it's not the easy way out but if you follow the plan you won't regret getting this surgery!

Fantastic experience: I had a great experience with Dr. Kumaran. The initial process was very quick, and I always felt comfortable asking him questions and talking about my fears and hesitations. The surgery process was great. I had almost no pain aside from a week or so of abdominal pain, and no complications from the surgery. His team was there every step of the way if I had questions or concerns. I'm a year out now and down ~120lbs. Bariatric surgery is the best decision I ever made for myself.

Fantastic experience: Everyone at Dr Kumaran's office is fantastic!!! Everyone was so kind to help with my FMLA paperwork and got everything done in a timely manner. Fantastic experience: Started my Journey at 327lbs i am currently at 214lbs. I am very happy with the work Dr. Kumaran Chinnappan has done. He is an awesome doctor and very polite. Fantastic experience: All my life I have struggled with my weight. Genetics was not in my favor. I had tried diets. Exercise. Pills. Even shots. When my aunt and mother passed away within 4 months of each other due to complications and morbid obesity. This sent me into a tail spin gaining another 100lbs quickly putting me at my highest weight of my life. 315lbs. Fantastic experience: I couldn't be happier with my experience with Dr. Chinnappan. Everyone in the office is very responsive and friendly, and Dr. Chinnappan himself is a wonderful doctor. I had gastric sleeve surgery on 2/21/22 and as of today I'm down 90 pounds. I went from a size 26 pants to a size 18 in just about 6 months. Fantastic experience: I had surgery on August 1, 2022. Everything from my first office visit to follow up visits with Dr. Chinnappan and his staff have been outstanding. Whenever I contact the office for questions they have responded each time in a timely manner and have taken care of questions and concerns.
