1st Choice Urgent Care of Garden City

Fantastic experience: My daughter has a bad cough, runny nose and sore throat. We booked same morning, in and out within 15 minutes. The doctor was so friendly, helpful and really seemed to care. I would definitely recommend this urgent care. I have also been seen by her and I’ve had the same experience!

Negative experience: Quick to see the doctor, but they completely messed up my prescriptions. They told me they couldn’t send them electronically to CVS, so they had to print them and I dropped them off. Well, CVS does not take the printout that 1st Choice gave me as a valid Rx. I had to call their 24hr facility to have them send the scripts. Now I’m waiting forever at CVS.

Negative experience: Scheduling was pretty easy however the staff wasn’t welcoming. They talked to you like you were bothering them. So if you’re looking for a that you won’t find it here. Not even a smile in sight. The doctor was short and downplayed things. Wouldn’t recommend this location to anyone.

Negative experience: These drs. Are a joke. I had to call 3 times to get my scripts called in. My 2nd and final experience there. The girls at desk were nice. Just drs. Are no good

Fantastic experience: Quiet, fast and friendly….!

Negative experience: I had an awful experience at this urgent care. I went in feeling like I had pneumonia, but they brushed it off, saying it wasn’t and it “might be” a upper respiratory infection and just put me on a random antibiotic without running any tests or taking an X-ray. After finishing the medication, I still wasn’t better. A week later, I returned because I had ear pain and suspected an ear infection. Dr. Marco barely looked in my ear, spent less than 2 minutes in the room. No one even took my vitals on either visit. The staff here just rushes you out without properly diagnosing or treating you. I went to Get Well Urgent Care, where they actually ran scans and tests, finding that I had pneumonia in one lung and an ear infection. I wouldn’t recommend this urgent care to anyone looking for thorough or compassionate care they don’t take you seriously.

Negative experience: Front desk was rude, I left and went elsewhere

Negative experience: Does not even deserve 1 star. Husband sick day 4, when we left our house his temp 101.6, they said he had no temp. I had to ask the Dr to listen to his lungs. They didn't check his blood pressure. They stood by the door the whole time. We get home and his temp is 102.2. Do not plan to go back.

Negative experience: Do not use this urgent care. They barely treat you. I went in for what I thought was an ear infection and Dr Marko barely even looked at my ear and brushed all of my concerns aside not even addressing the fact that my lymph node and tonsils are swollen and the ear canal was red (later found out with another doctor) and just threw a random antibiotic at me. And then a couple weeks later I cut my thumb wide open and he flat out refused to do anything but bandaid it and when I went to work the next day in the OR pharmacy at a hospital, they were appalled that he didn’t glue and and then they glued it then and there at my work. Not happy with the care and then they aren’t billing my insurance even though I gave it to them and they take it.

Fantastic experience: The app that 1st choice uses works well with appointments. The staff at the clinic was very friendly and professional. Thanks for helping me with my scratched eye , the meds that Miss Cooper prescribed did help heal the irritation as it should. Again thanks.

Fantastic experience: Staff were very professional, through and handled my situation. Dr and PA we’re also very through, asked lots of questions to get a good understanding of my needs. I felt very comfortable and felt my needs were met. This always my go to Urgent Care.

Negative experience: Worst urgent care ever! My husband was sick and visited this location. The doctor told him he had the flu. Gave him a steroid prescription and told him to start it when he peaked! What?? No flu test? No Tamiflu? Office staff member was rude when he asked for a note for work. He had to go to a different urgent care the next day. Flu test was positive. That doctor gave him Tamiflu. So... now he will have two office visits to pay for and his return to work was delayed. This could have been avoided had the first Dr. done their job. Ridiculous waste of time and money!

Negative experience: I normally don’t get sick and when I do I want to know what’s going on. I went in and waited for 5 minutes for someone to come in and take my temperature and heart rate quickly and ask me what pharmacy I use. Then the doctor came in and I told him what was going on just for him to hand me a piece of paper of medicine I can take and prescribe me antibiotics. That was an awful experience and I will never be going back

Negative experience: This location is an absolute mess! I had been here twice both times was a few months apart. From my experience the facility itself is very poorly kept especially the Exam rooms and bathroom. They don’t look like they clean or wipe down the rooms at all in between in patient. Also the few medical assistant that triaged me were very unprofessional and rushed the entire time. One MA actually got my vitals and asked what was my chief complaint with the door wide open which is a violation of HIPAA considering there were other patients in the rooms next to me. I was severely uncomfortable! The only good experience I had is the providers on each occasion that I visited, They were very attentive and answer all of my questions. Now I only do virtual or just completely go to a whole different urgent care. I think that they need to retrain their medical assistants on how to properly get vitals and not violate patients HIPPA rights and also I genuinely feel like this facility needs to be updated or just severely deep cleaned, especially between each patient . The only thing I would give a five star rating to is the Providers.

Negative experience: My husband was explaining to the new doctor Brent Tatomir all his symptoms and issues and he walked out in the middle of him eplaining. The nurse came in and my husband let her know the doctor just walked out and to send him back in. The doctor blew him off and have him a few days off of work. NOW I'm dealing with him and my 1 and 4 year old having PINK EYE, something you could clearly tell my husband had and could have been treated before any of this. We've been coming here for years but won't be returning, making it feel like our issues don't matter is very disappointing and felt like a race issue.

Negative experience: I went here today as it's just blocks from my house - will definitely not be returning in the future. I waited for 45 minutes in the room for the doctor and when he came in he was very rushed and barely listened to my lungs (which was part of why I was there). I asked him if the medications he told me to take were able to be taken while breastfeeding and he said he had to go check (completely fine, I don't expect every doctor to know everything). He came back with a paper with the info he found on google & said everything on the list was fine. After I left I noticed the article was from 2000 so the information was obviously very outdated. There was also a man coughing all over the box of masks at the check in counter and the workers didn't even bat an eye at it

Fantastic experience: I was told one thing about my medical situation when I called the business directly and than told another thing during my tele visit. It was just a waste of resources. Now this was my original complaint. Shortly after this I was contacted by Sarah at the South Field location and she made everything right. I like her she was very kind, helpful, and professional. So I'll happily continue to use 1st Choice Urgent Care.

Fantastic experience: The staff at the urgent care center exceeded my expectations with their motivation and professionalism. Shawn, who is a skilled and experienced technician, gave me a shot in such a gentle and careful way that I did not feel any discomfort or pain at all. I have never had such a positive and pleasant experience in any other urgent care facility before.

Fantastic experience: Today I went into 1st choice for Physical for Republic the MA Lashawnda was very professional and kind she got me back quick and was great. Dr. Martinovski was awesome and will recommend coming back for other services.

Negative experience: Never go here. A single rapid test for covid will get billed to your insurance at $169 ($94 for an "office visit" and $75 for the test), and you'll have to pay $121 out of pocket (with good insurance!) for your 15 minute visit. Customer service is terrible, no way to dispute, wasted a month and a half of my life trying. Of course, you won't know that it's stupidly expensive until you get the bill... *after* your visit.

Positive experience: Doctor and nurse were great! I had called and spoke to the front desk staff to see if they would take care of my situation. Without asking, she said yes, so I drove there, hoping that my knee could get drained (torn meniscus). I was told they do not do that procedure. Instead got a shot of steroid and sent me on my merry way. Wish I would have known BEFORE hand!

Positive experience: Quick and easy check-in process. Clerk, x-ray tech and doc were phenomenal,very caring kind and friendly! No wait time and the only thing I would suggest is a bit more thorough cleaning of the exam room by housekeeping. Step to get on exam table was dirty....but that's the only thing that wasn't perfect!!!

Negative experience: I'd find another urgent care facility if I were you*** This facility did not treat my daughter when she was there with a fever, but rather told her to go to the ER instead. Unfortunately, they'd already received her information and used it to bill our insurance company for the visit. I'd have not known had she not received a bill for the copayment. No matter how small - fraud is fraud. (I'd give zero stars if possible)

Negative experience: I didn't have a good experience here today. First of all, this place needs new scissors. It was shameful to watch them not able to cut a simple gauze with two scissors . I expected more treatment for my daughter's wound. Please next time make sure the xray room is ready before the patient comes into the room. Also please let your doctors know where are all the tools and meds. They seemed not sure what is where.

Fantastic experience: I RECOMMEND THIS PLACE 10/10 The front staff was so kind. I was having a rough time and snapped but she was soooooo sympathetic it calmed me down. I felt bad because I brought my negative baggage from dealing with other medical places treating me and my family like we didn't matter. She took us in with love and caring that ibhave never seen from a desk clerk The doctor was AMAZING he made my daughter feel percent at ease and myself. He was listening to her and asking her how she felt and wasn't all serious and scary like some doctors come off. DR. M and staff THANK YOU

Fantastic experience: Dr Marco and his staff are amazing to work with. I went in for my annual DOT physical and he took his time and got me together and ready to hit the road again in no time. The whole team were a pleasure to work with, I highly recommend this location to all my fellow truck drivers. I went in angry and left out with a smile. Negative experience: i took my 23 month old son her on wednesday last week. he had a fever, an extreme runny nose, cough, and he was overall miserable. there was no wait in the waiting room, which i was appreciative of but once we were seen, the dr checked his ears and his breathing and basically told me my son had a basic cold, and he’d be better in a few days. those few days went by and my son had not improved, if anything he had gotten worse with vomiting, little to no sleep, bags under his eyes, he wouldn’t eat or drink — at this point i wanted a second opinion. i went to a different urgent care and come to find out my child was suffering from strep throat. why did the dr not take the time to thoroughly examine my non verbal child?? he never even checked his mouth to begin with. very disappointed and i won’t be back.

Negative experience: I recently visited this urgent care and was very displeased with the lack of care that was provided. When I attempted to receive help, the male doctor was very dismissive and showed no compassion. He was so busy trying to hurry through the visit he failed to hear my concerns. I continued to express to him the symptoms I was having and got nowhere. I left there feeling defeated, still in pain, and unclear what was goin on with me at that time. Needless to say, I ended up in the ER as a result. When you are sick, the last thing you want to feel when seeking help from a healthcare provider is as if you don't matter and what you are experiencing is not of concern; I felt just that. I would NOT recommend this urgent care to anyone that is in need of medical attention and will never go there again. If there was an option to give it zero stars I would.

Fantastic experience: Every single visit I am treated with respect, kindness, compassion and excellent care. Deb and Lashanda are amazing and kind. Dr. Marko is absolutely kind, takes time to hear your concerns, and provided me with such a great and comfortable compassionate care!

Negative experience: The front desk was very friendly, but I will not be returning due to my interaction with Dr. Martinovski. I visited this urgent care due to a skin infection. I felt that he did not take me seriously and was rude and condescending. He told me that it was just dry skin but that he would write a prescription for an antibiotic ointment "that I don't think you need but people get mad if I don't write a prescription." It was not just dry skin and the ointment cleared the infection before it spread and became worse.

Fantastic experience: First off, Natalie at 1st choice urgent care has been absolutely outstanding. Not only regarding my questions but just being so professional and prompt. Love her for the front desk, and also Marko has been great, understanding and gave his feedback to my questions and needs with honesty. I truly can’t recommend this office anymore, and this will always be my go to spot for urgent care. Thank you guys for all you do!

Fantastic experience: I have been coming to this urgent care for a great deal of time. They are always courteous, knowledgeable and direct. Ali, the doctor we saw today, had a wonderfully professional demeanor and showed a real care. We spoke about prevention of illness as well as treatment, and the extra mile was truly given. Thanks Dr. Ali and thanks to all the 1st choice staff.

Positive experience: Normally pretty great but no longer requires masks in the waiting room. I signed in for an apt at 915 for my 3yo and the waiting room didn't have enough seats and 15 people are maskless, coughing, in a small area during peak covid, flu and rsv season. I was told they dont actually save your spot which defeats the website purpose and in my opinion puts small children in danger. Do better! We left, if your kid has an ache they'll walk out with something else due to the set up, lack of masks, and misleading 'save my spot' option.

Positive experience: I took my child here on Saturday and the lady dr and everyone there who was working was very kind and helpful but prescribed them antibiotics which is sold out everywhere when I tried calling to have them send over an alternative and nobody picked up the phones so I had to drive back and speak to them in person then I had to take them back a couple days after and due to worsened symptoms and the young male dr I don’t remember his name was extremely rude and unhelpful he came in immediately which was nice and I was in and out but he had no compassion to my concerns instead just tried to invalidate them and gave a completely different diagnosis then the other dr did and sent me on my way because “it’s not like they can talk to me and tell me what’s wrong” didn’t bother checking their ears, temp or mouth

Fantastic experience: My 5 Stars if for NP. Maria Cooper, only, If I could give her 105 stars , I would. . I had the honor to have her as my clinician during my visit two weeks ago. She is a wonderful clinician that really cares and listen to her patients concerns. She was very thorough in my evaluation and explanation of treatment. I highly recommend seeing Np. Cooper and Dr. Turner also. Both wonderful clinicians with wonderful and above and beyond bedside manners and patient care. Negative experience: Soooo, every time I’ve been here the staff has been nothing but sweet and accommodating. Always clean and really never have to wait long. The 2 stars is for the billing company. Every time i come here i have paid my bill through my HSA account that shows the money has been deducted from my account and paid my bill. Yet after every visit and every time i pay i receive multiple letters in the mail telling me i owe a balance when i don’t. Doesn’t make sense and i feel like I’m getting charged multiple times when i shouldn’t.

Fantastic experience: I've been coming to this urgent care for years. I've never had any complait with the staff or doctors I've met. All the ladies up front are super nice and understanding. The doctors have always been very compassionate and understanding of my issues. I recommend this to anyone in need of urgent care services.

Fantastic experience: Easy online appointment booking, I made a 4:10pm appointment and was seen and treated by 4:30. Very friendly staff and a very comfortable experience.

Positive experience: Not sure what the negative reviews are about. This is an urgent care. Sometimes you will have a wait time and honestly 40 min isn’t that long. ER would be 8 hrs minimum. My husband, daughter, and myself have been to this clinic many times and we are in and out and treated well. It could be cleaner.. which is why I dropped a star. They need a nightly clean crew. But again it’s an urgent care. The MAs and desk staff are usually way overworked at these places. If you want overly kind staff, clean establishment, and quick appointments.. get an established primary care and go see them. If you have a minor illness this place is quick and you don’t need an appointment. It does the job well.

Fantastic experience: The doctors and staff are very friendly. The doctors are very thorough and good with children. Made an appointment on line and even though it's not guaranteed that someone may still be seen before you, the wait is very minimal.

Maria was my provider, and was so professional, warm and friendly. Although, I have been to other urgent cares in the past, nothing compares to the great service I received from 1st choice today! Negative experience: Got covid testing done 24h later no results, went inside ask about resolts unable to get my resolts supposed to get phone call in 20 minutes never received it do not recoment this place at all!!

Positive experience: My daughter is an asthmatic. We chose an in person appointment for Covid test because she was feeling tightness in her chest. She tested positive and even after we explained the breathing and asthma, she was never physically checked. It would have taken 30 seconds for them to check her breathing and O2 levels but they never did. They pretty much said you have Covid, have a nice day. I feel this was very irresponsible. Thankfully we are stocked up with her meds but still pretty disappointed.

Negative experience: If you are afraid to treat sick people then do not go into the medical field. The PA came in yesterday wrapped her hand in her inner coat until she left. Made the comment I had not eaten in 5 days and drank very little. Never checked to see if I was dehydrated. Never listened to my lungs, heart nothing. It was a waste of my money.

Negative experience: George. George the medical assistant there is a god sent. He’s very helpful, knowledgeable and GREAT with kids. If that man was a doctor he’d be our pediatrician!!! Thanks so much for your help george and keep doing what you do! This was 8 months ago. George deserves 10 stars…… Yesterday 9/28 I went for a COVID test. I explained that I had bad SOB. Not once was my pulse ox taken and no blood pressure was taken on me… no vitals besides a temp. That’s odd. Then they told me I was having an asthma flare and did not do an X-ray and I do not have asthma. Based on this appointment and the understanding George is no longer there I will not be recommending this location.

Fantastic experience: This is a great place. Everyone here was very nice and they really have a very organized system. I went for a covid test and not only did they test me but I also seen a Dr. The Dr. was great and took good care of me. I highly recommend this urgent care

Negative experience: *UPDATE* Reduced to one star. They are now answering their phones an immediately hanging up. Poor communication, dirty facility and long wait times. They did not have the test I available that I specifically made the appointment for. No one answers their phones and their voicemail is full. No one reached out earlier in the day (hours before my appointment) when they ran out of the test kits to inform me so I didn’t waste my time. Wait time was about 45 mints even though I had an appointment. The facility was very dirty inside and looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned in a long time. (See photos) I won’t be back here in the future.

Negative experience: They don’t answer their phone and it’s been 48 hours since my PCR test with no results. Any other clinic has given me my results almost same day at this point. Disappointing.

Negative experience: I've used this clinic before and have never had any issues, the staff has always been nice. However, on my most recent visit to get a Covid test the medical assistant felt it was appropriate to inform me that my choice to not get vaccinated was wrong and if I have Covid I'm most likely going to end up on a respirator and die!!

Fantastic experience: Staff was kind and understanding. Doctor addressed all of my concerns. At other facilities that I have been in, I was swabbed for Covid and sent on my way. This doctor checked us over and answered all of our questions.

Fantastic experience: I sure wish I caught the name of the gentleman that helped me today at the urgent care. Tall skinny dude. He was very thorough in explaining everything I needed to do with all the paperwork and patient portal information. Very thankful he had the patience to show me on my phone what to do. Negative experience: They don't honor their appointment times. Be prepared to wait several hours when you have a confirmed appointment time. I spoke to the receptionist and she told me they don't really do appointments, it's only for registration.

Positive experience: The doctors are incredibly helpful and actually care about the patients. My only problem is the online check in. Seemed like multiple people didn't know to go to the desk after completing the online check in. The online thing is also very redundant.

Negative experience: They rushed my visit because there was 20+ people waiting for COVID tests. I never received test results (it’s been a week) and when I tried to reach out to get medication for the condition I was seen for, I was told I’d have to come back and wait 2 hours again to be seen. Guy on the phone was rude and made me feel like I was a huge bother. This really should just be a COVID test site—I came a couple times in September for that and that’s all they were good for. They seem incapable and not have capacity for much else.

Positive experience: took a while to get in after check in but that's expected with most urgent cares. Once I got an exam room it wasn't long of a wait and got a doctor quick to help me with my bronchitis.

Positive experience: Do not use Solv to check in. Can use online to get appointment, then check in at the desk. They didn't get the Solv online check in.

Fantastic experience: I had a little difficulty getting on and off the patient table. Could use a hand rail next to it. Otherwise, was very satisfied.

Fantastic experience: Looking for a quick urgent care without the long wait. 1st choice urgent care has online scheduling, with paperwork as well to make your wait time much quicker. They also have a live wait time for your visit. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Fantastic experience: I am giving 5 stars because the last 2 times my family was here we were treated kindly and with respect by all staff. I’d give a 0/5 for the provider I saw today, JoAnn PA-C. As an RN I find it interesting how obvious it is between the bedside manners of a PA verses an NP. Rude, short, snarky. “You are all negative again” making sure to put a little snark into the “again”; listen lady I tested positive for COVID by both PCR and rapid and spent the last 10 days feeling like I wish I could die. “Why are you all getting tested”….for real?! I said I’m a elementary school nurse “oh, they’re making you get tested?”, Nope. I’m trying to do what’s best for the over 400 kids I work with every day along with my mother who is immune compromised and my father who has cancer. I tried discussing the mucous in my chest and was minimized. Having worked in acute care medicine myself for over 7 years….your bedside manner needs some working on JoAnn. I won’t be returning to this urgent care for mine or my families needs again just based on the fact that we may have to see this provider. Next time try something like “I’m glad you’re feeling better” instead of seeming so annoyed by our presence.

Fantastic experience: Dr. Ali Hassan is really nice! He is very helpful and professional, i noticed late at night that my DOB on the report is wrong, the day and month are opposite, so he called me personally the 2nd day at 9 am to fix it, the employees at the front desk too, they are very calm, professional, and understanding, they treat patients with respect!

Negative experience: Horrible service. We were told that pcr test results would be back in 24 hours. However it was not. If you need result within 24 hours this isn't the place. The employees were rude and didn't even apologize. If you need fast covid pcr test with great service drive the extra five minutes and go to westland urgent care.

Fantastic experience: This place is great. I especially like Beth ! She explained everything in a way I could understand and my nose didn't feel assaulted after she gave me the test. I couldn't recommend this place enough! They do walk-ins, you don't have to make an appointment 3 days in advance. They don't make you wait in your car if you have symptoms. they let you come in and explain your symptoms, not just jab your nose and send you on your way like almost every other place around. They understand covid exists but so do other illnesses. The facility is clean and everyone is professional. This is the place to go for all your urgent care needs

Negative experience: I was not happy with my first visit there… the doctor on site that day was very quick and short (literally at most 2 minutes) and you could very well tell she didn’t care to be there. I will not be going back. The worst experience!

Negative experience: This would never be my first choice. Wasted 2 hours in their lobby for a covid test. Never got tested or called. Debbie "put my info in". She made it seem like she was helping but wouldn't acknowledge that she has been staring at me in her lobby for almost 2 hours. I was there almost to close. I asked if they got the stupid electronic registration and they said no. Took my info manually and put me in the back of the line. Thanks for the help, what a waste of time. I could have gone anywhere else and got help or a professional.

Negative experience: Set an appointment for my wife. It’s taking two hours and she’s still inside. What’s the urgent part of this urgent care. What’s the difference in wait time compared to a hospital? And in the end they still couldn’t help
