Fantastic experience: Dr. Hoehn is the best very friendly and made me if comfortable and he answered all my questions. I live over 3 1/2 hours away. They made me feel welcomed and did a fantastic job on my care. All nurses are very nice!! Shout out to Peggy, KA they did a great job with caring for me after surgery! All of the staff were great to me! I was very nervous at first because going to see new people and doctors always is but this staff was outstanding!! I got my first surgery gastric sleeve where I live. Due to medical reasons I need to get the gastric bypass. It was done 12/17/24. I am so grateful for KC bariatric!! Thank you!

Fantastic experience: I cannot say enough good things about KC Bariatric! I was VERY hesitant to do the surgery, but they made me feel so welcomed, seen, heard, and cared about that it completely changed my mind. Dr. Aragon is such a wonderful surgeon and the entire staff there is friendly and helpful. I never had a bad visit with them. The care I received inpatient surgery day and after was top notch. I am SO glad I chose KC Bariatric. I’ve lost 260lbs since 5/4/23 and my life has been forever changed!

Fantastic experience: Due to living 4.5 hours away from Lenexa, I was able to complete my pre-op apts via phone and get necessary pre-op testing done locally. The whole process was smooth and went beyond my expectations! Surgery went smooth and I was very pleased and appreciative of not only Dr. Hamilton and his P.A., but the nurses during both pre-op, surgery, and post-op recovery were phenomenal! I am beyond impressed with my experience at KC Bariatric!

Negative experience: I wasn't advised that there was a $125 facility fee for each visit for scheduled Hyper-bariatric Oxygen treatments.

Negative experience: The surgeon was great, staff was amazing while I was there. After you leave them the service goes way downhill! I continue to get transferred to person name Ashley instead of speaking to the Doctor and she's speaking on they behalf! I'm 5 weeks post op in need of my restrictions to be lifted, which is a dumb restriction to have on my work paperwork. Any normal Doctor would understand what I'm saying and remove the restrictions. I'm running lifting and doing everything ahead of schedule! I also work a job that doesn't require me lifting anything, which I informed to please removing it from the paperwork because your costing me $2,500 of missing out on regular work!

Negative experience: Absolutely the rudest and most disrespectful nurse practitioner I’ve ever dealt with. Amanda Merino needs to be fired. She obviously doesn’t know how to speak to people. I’d advise people to not go here because of Amanda Merinos attitude and rudeness towards people.

Fantastic experience: The KCB team are so amazing! Encouraging, up-lifting and right there with you every step of the way. They are your biggest cheerleaders. No other facility I would have trusted to give me back my life.

Fantastic experience: I had the most pleasant experience here. All of the staff that worked with me were LOVELY. Everything was explained well, and they took great care of me. My surgeon, Dr. Hamilton, didn’t just do the surgery and dip out… I got to see him before I left. And they all reassure you that they’re just one phone call away. Fantastic experience: I’m 10 days from revision surgery. My health team is awesome! They offer red carpet treatment before the process, during and after. I waited so long to seek this revision, never should have waited, these folks offer positive thoughts with no shame. I enjoy learning from each of them. Special shout out to Rachel Hupfer! Fantastic experience: Dr. Hoehn did my gastric sleeve 10 years ago. Great experience. Unfortunately, I developed a hiatal hernia which caused Acid reflux. Dr Aragan repaired that and did a revision to a bypass. Could not ask for better care both times. The doctors and staff are the best.

From the psychological evaluation to the nutrition consult to sleep study, KC Bariatric was a "one-stop shop". I started my bariatric weight loss journey with a different bariatric practice in the area that referred out for all of the required consults/evaluations before surgery which was not ideal because the places I was referred to were booked out for months. My case manager at KC Bariatric made my appointments (based on my scheduling needs) and took care of my insurance. I received the one-on-one attention and education that is so important when for this life-changing decision. My surgeon was fantastic and the staff is amazing. I you're considering bariatric surgery, KC Bariatric is the only place to go.

Negative experience: The surgeon was great and I enjoyed the dieticians. But the office staff and billing made this a miserable experience. My wife and I had the exact same procedure and hers cost 13000 Les then mine when I brought this up to KC bariatric they would not respond and or even attempt to assist. The case manager said I would have no out of pocket as the cost would be below the lifetime max but BAM I walk in for follow up and they want me to pay $1000. No matter how good the w staff is if the billing and admin staff are bad it destroys the entire experience!!!

Negative experience: I normally don’t leave reviews and I am conflicted but my experience with this office was awful. My appointment was at 8. I arrived at 750. I was brought back and then left to wait in the room for an hour and a half. No one checked on me. Then the doctor comes in for 5 minutes no exam or anything tells me he will put me down for the gastric sleeve and leaves. Then the case worker comes in and said “ since your appointment is late we will have to rush through this” I took that to mean she wasn’t able to answer my questions either. I was treated like I was late and being punished when it was the doctor. Then I had another appointment they had me scheduled me for and they had to call over to see if they could still take me because I was late. I finally said the doctor was late NOT ME and consequently us making me late to everything else. Why is everyone treating me badly as if I was the disrespectful one who showed up late. Ive never felt like that at a doctors appointment and just couldn’t go back after that. Then the month following they actually called me for my second cash payment they require everyone to pay. I really wanted to like it and get the procedure done but the office staff made me feel less than….

Negative experience: This has to have been the worst experience i have ever had. Maybe my experience is a one off, but everything that could go wrong did go wrong. First off you can never reach them on the phone. If this has been your experience then you know that i am lease correct there. i had the sleeves back in Sept. I spent two weeks in the hospital 5 day each, which wasn’t there fault. I developed a deep embolism. My problem is i could never get anyone to rerun my calls, without having to make three and four calls. Each time. No one really cared about the suffering i was experience. I took out the extra insurance but no one knew how it work or how to process it. I still have $10k worth of bills that they bill me each week although i was told it will be resolved. I just feel as if no one cared. I had CT scans, EGC test, placed on blood thinners. But once the blood thinner ran out no one called to do a follow up appointment to see if the blood clot in my liver was gone (to this day still have not received a follow up). One was scheduled but when i arrived i was turned away because KC Bariatircs had not seen over the correct paperwork. It has just been six months of problems. I did loose the weight but i really feel like my stomach was cut too small. Too this day if i eat 5 olives or a spoon of food, im extremely full, and anything past that i still throw it up. This experience FOR ME has been anything but smooth. I finally received calls i’ve the past two weeks for the follow up CT scan but each time i tried to set appointment i was told that LC bariatrics did not first confirm that the facilities doing the scan was in my network. So i’m still waiting for them to get it right. I had to get Ann the office manager involved and she has been a great help. But i’m just surprised by the level of care i have received. The building looks professional but the care does not match. If i had to do it all over again, i would find a different practice that would make sure i’m taking care of after the procedure. When it’s most important. They failed me on so many levels. Hopefully one day soon all this is past me.

Fantastic experience: Dr.Aragon was awesome. The entire staff was great every step of the way!! Dropped 35 lbs still a work in progress.

Positive experience: I didn’t wake up from anesthesia for 24 hours and I believe I was in a coma. Usually nurses will say get up wake up, but nobody ever did that I know of. This outfit also never followed up with me after the surgery. They had their money I had my surgery and that was that. They did a good operation, but the rest of it was terrible.

Fantastic experience: I just had my surgery Nov 30 and this facility is by far the best of the best they go out of their way to make you feel like your the most important person from the time you start your appointment to get approval all the way up to ur night stay in the hospital I couldn't asked for a better Dr (Hamilton) and his staff for taken such great care of me now it's time to use the tool they provide me with Thank you for everything Laurie Nott

Fantastic experience: As a nurse myself, KC Bariatric provided the absolute best care I could have hoped for. Throughout the entire process I was well cared for by an entire team; including a case manager, dietician, physical therapist, psychologist, and surgeon. When my surgery date arrived, that same fantastic care continued with all the nurses, CNAs, and the anesthesia staff. Would recommend to any friends or family in need of bariatric care.

Negative experience: I’ve had a terrible time post surgery. I was prescribed a medication with pretty bad side affects. I had a telehealth visit March 23rd where we decided to switch medication I was told to wait a few days for authorization if denied I would be prescribed another medication that did not require authorization. I have now waited a month, calling daily I was able to reach the nurse who promised to call back within 10 minutes. The front desk takes sticky notes but I never receive a return call or anything sent to the pharmacy. Updating Dec 22 : I would not recommend this surgery center unless you’re fully prepared to deal with deception and miscommunication. My initial surgery was 11/19. FPost surgery I had a terrible time receiving post operative care while pregnant 11/20-4/21. Even with maternal fetal medicine, pcp and my local ER reaching out for support- it was not received until I was driven to the surgery center and demanded in person to receive help as our lives were deemed at risk. Following pregnancy I reaching out to NP Mary 1/22-10/22 for assistance and requested a revision as I was then gaining weight rapidly. My last visit with Mary I was placed with a new P that instructed me to just stop all medication for 30-60 days then we’d try other solutions. I followed every instruction, tried 4 different medications only to be told by one of the receptionists that I could’ve had a revision appointment with the doctor a long time ago if someone would’ve just sent me the appropriate revision request link. At this time we were racing against insurance that covered bariatric procedures my case manager Bambra did her best to fast track all required appointments to no avail. I’m highly disappointed and upset that if only the proper information was given to me at numerous appointments I could’ve received the help I needed.

Fantastic experience: Had my bypass done on March 23. 6 months of tests and hoops to jump through to get to that point. Everyone was so kind and informative. I'd definently suggest KC Bariatric to anyone thinking about getting bariatric surgery. My surgeon was wonderful. The nurses were wonderful.

Fantastic experience: I have truly enjoyed my experience here, I drive 2 and half hours to come here and I would do it all over again. They have adapted to my schedule, very helpful and are very patient!!! All they employees are very friendly, from the front desk to the Dr. I'm still waiting to get my surgery date, but it's very close.

Negative experience: Surgery pre op nurses were rude, dismissive and completely blind sided my husband and I when we arrived that you get no support person pre op. You know when they usually need you the most to keep them calm before a major surgery. Made us feel like I should have dropped him off at the door and left. He wasn't happy and neither was I. It never used to be this way though. Sad to see this change happen.

Negative experience: I am very disappointed to have to be posting this review, because the staff on the surgery side of KC Bariatric are AMAZING. I had the most incredible surgical team and was extremely happy with my experience. However, my longer-term care with the Nurse Practitioners has been extremely disappointing. In a recent meeting, the Nurse Practitioner proceeded to lecture me about how we can always make excuses and how I can't just put off my weight loss. This "tough love" lecture was right after I had told her that I was struggling because I had just lost a family member in a tragic accident and needed to focus my goals on maintaining right now. She then proceeded to compare the stress of losing a family member to the stress of being a working mom. I expect more compassion from medical professionals that work with weight loss every day. It isn't a sprint, it's a marathon that is going to have ups and downs and the focus should be on the overall health of the patient. My disappointing experiences now have me looking for another doctor to work with on my long-term weightless goals.

Fantastic experience: Everything is amazing at the Bariatric Center of Kansas City. I relocated to KS and was looking for a medical office to maintain my lapband but after several visits and exams I found out that my lapband had slipped and Dr Hamilton was able to guide me through the revision process. Everyone from the case workers to support staff and medical teams are all AWESOME! They provide the best care and give you great information and support throughout the process. The support groups are also very interactive and the team provides great information for pre and post operative patients. I can’t say enough about great they are and how they have completely changed my life for the better.

Fantastic experience: I had my first surgery 4/2016. Then I had to have a conversion 8/2017. And I am now possibly going for a third surgery. Dr Aragon and Jeff are amazing. Dr. Aragon prayed with me before every procedure even my endoscopes and that helped reassure me and reduce my anxiety. They have listened, took my chronic illnesses into consideration as to which direction we would have to go next.

Fantastic experience: From my first appointment and through surgery this is an amazing professional practice, Kind and extremely organized. They know there stuff and handle it with ease even when you may be freaking out! Fantastic experience: The staff, my case manager Bambra, the BEST surgeon Dr. Stanley Hoehn, and PA Tim, assisted me in changing my life forever! The experience of this surgery by these amazing people who are there to help change lives!! I owe so much to the care and prep work that went into my life style change, that I am a walking advertisement!! I have been able to assist others in changing and one friend had the surgery because of the amazing care I got! You will NEVER regret having this surgery and sticking to the lifestyle change of eating, I’m beyond grateful for Dr. Hoehn and the Bariatric Center!!!!

Fantastic experience: The overall experience has been wonderful. Everything is streamline and the staff is so kind. I have yet to have a bad experience with anyone from front desk to surgical staff. The place is beautiful, very clean. Dr.Hoehn is amazing and so positive it takes your worry away and gets you excited for what’s to come.
