Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono has received a mixed array of reviews from patients and their families. • Compassionate and friendly staff: Nurses like Joanna and teams in specialized units received commendations for their empathy and support.

Negative experience: I was hospitalized as an emergency patient and one of the employee stole my wallet and they did nothing about it I called for a whole month and still having haven’t gotten what they promised even tho they said they won’t charged me the bill of the hospital because how disgusting that was and not give me anything for it they stole it and didn’t have any answer I wasn’t mentally okay to take care of the situation and still I never want to go here. Ever.

Negative experience: If I could give zero stars, I would. My 94 year old mother was sent there with head trauma from her nursing home. When I got there, an hour later, they had taken her blood pressure. She was screaming in pain and they were having a party at the nurse's station, ignoring her. After I demanded a CT, they found a brain bleed, but didn't inform us until 2 hours later when I demanded to see a supervisor. I will say, the nursing supervisor was excellent and he called in a Trauma PA who was also very good. We moved her to another facility ASAP, she's in ICU.

Negative experience: If I could give a zero I would. Went with my roommate to the hospital because she got to an accident almost two hours waiting for a doctor to come in only for us to back the next day because doctors still didn’t do an xray or check for a concussion which my roommate really well knew she had only for them yo tell us they can’t do a scan to check for concussion. I been to other ER rooms that check for concussions. Do not recommend coming here

Fantastic experience: On 7/24/24 my husband suffered a stroke/brain bleed. If it wasn't for the ICU team he wouldn't still be with us. The unit was amazing, each person seemed to have a certain role they played, each one of them worked on getting him stable and prepare him. They worked together to transfer my husband to a trauma care hospital that had a neurosurgeon. I am internally grateful for this unit, the nurses, and Dr's that worked to save his life.

Negative experience: My husband is here for testing, this place is filthy no soap in the restrooms, furniture is dirty in waiting room and the cafeteria is gross nothing worth eating, tables are dirty flies everywhere!!! This hospital may have changed its name but it is the same old Pocono Medical to me. Definitely not enough handicap parking I was told to walk up to the extra parking lot and a shuttle bus might show up like hello I am disabled and can’t walk that far

Negative experience: If I could give this hospital a zero star I surely would. Currently sitting in the ER and have been in the waiting room for 4 hours! And STILL WAITING! I’ve watched 6 different people walk out because the wait is pathetic. They don’t care about the people that come in. This hospital is a joke and that’s exactly what they take the patients as… a joke. When someone asked about other people going back that got here after her, she was told that “other people’s problems were more severe then yours” so to me, you are not treating people equally because anyone coming to an emergency room had an emergency, nobody comes here just for fun…. If it was more severe they would’ve called 911 and taken an ambulance in….I would NEVER send someone to this place for any emergency! This is disgusting, pathetic, and just down right a sad joke. THIS IS NEGLECT!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I’ve never in my life wrote a good review about a hospital, but here I am! On Friday I had a catheter ablation done and my team was incredible. Honestly the biggest shoutout to my nurse Joanna, who was just amazing, patient, right there when and if I needed her. My surgeon, Dr Gringut, super down to earth and got me through without needing anything more serious. I really can’t say anything bad here and I’ll never go to another hospital (trust me I have before and it was an awful experience)

Negative experience: When I first arrived here I will say this.. The nurse at check in was a doll, she made me feel very comfortable stating the reason I was there because it was a little awkward. I grew up near stroudsburg so this was the closest ER for me. I moved to Florida a little over 6 Mos ago but had to come back up for a family emergency. My doctor down in Florida refused to refill my medication without seeing me first because it's a psych med. Problem is I ran out of my meds and haven't had them for over a week now which isn't good since I've been taking them for at least 6mos. So I had to see if the ER would give me an emergency fill and also I had another problem as well that was a little personal. The checked my vitals and luckily I only sat in the waiting room for maybe a little over an hour. But they brought me back to a room and I sat in that room for another two hours before a nurse came in to get my insurance info. About half an hour later the doctor comes in and explains he will do a pelvic exam. I was instructed to remove my pants and they handed me a gown to put on. I put on the gown and sat on the bed waiting for the doctor. Usually when they tell you to strip you can pretty much expect the doctor to come in and do the exam within 5 or 10 mins. A half hour goes by.. an hour... at the two hour mark I was beyond frustrated. I got up made sure my bum was covered and went out into the hallway looking for anyone at all to talk to. I needed a simple swab procedure. Takes 5 mins. Finally after 2 and 1/2 hrs after they tell me to remove my clothing and put on the gown, the doctor comes back and tells me that he's really sorry and that he would see me when he could because they were really busy "that night". By that point I was very frustrated and feeling really impatient. But then I saw the doctor in the hallway and he said 15 mins okay? So I said okay went back in the room and remained naked under my gown. 15 mins came and went. But I waited for 45 more mins and got up and said forget it. I had been there 6 or 7 hours I think for a simple refill in my medication and a pelvic exam. I mean really?? I changed back into my clothes after sitting naked under that gown for what felt like forever grabbed my purse and walked out into the hallway to turn the corner to exit. The doctor saw me about to leave and said, it's against medical advice. I said well, it's against my standards to sit in a room for an 8hr shift naked!! I was already feeling awkward about the exam since it was a male doctor with a male intern following him around training with him. I made a mental note last night. Never will I come back to pocono ever again. They are understaffed, unprofessional and most of the young nurses are so rude. Nope nope nope. I'll go to st Luke's today.

Negative experience: Don’t bring your loved ones there the nurses are terrible you can’t even call to ask a question on your family member they are full of excuses it’s very sad how they treat their patients and the family!! if I could give it a zero I would !!!!!

Positive experience: My dad was at Lehigh Valley Pocono on the rehabilitation floor. The nurses were delightful and Liz the caseworker was such a pleasure to talk to. She kept me in the loop every step of the way. It was reassuring as I live out of state. When I did come to visit, it was extremely clean and the nurses were always coming in to check on my dad. If I could give five stars to just the rehab, I would. My dad was moved to ICU at one point because his sodium levels were low. His nurses were very nice when I would call to get a daily update. It was almost impossible to speak to a doctor. The three stars are for the lack of communication from the doctors. I understand doctors are busy and hospitals are short staffed, but to make a phone call to give families a quick update is always appreciated. Thats the only complaint I have about Lehigh Valley Pocono.

Fantastic experience: I would never dream of going to any other area hospital. The staff in the heart department are the most compassionate, caring and empathetic people on the face of the earth. These earthly angels deserve the utmost respect from our community. The way they treated me after having a series of mini strokes literally saved my life. I was so scared and every single staff member that I encountered from housekeeping, to patient care aides, phlebotomists and the nurses were so wonderful and put me at ease. I want to especially thank the MRI team and the CAT scan team for their kindness and empathy. THANK YOU doesn't seem enough for what I went through and how I was treated. THE best hospital by far!!

Fantastic experience: My grandmother, Lubov, was in the Poconos for a week and unfortunately had a medical emergency on vacation so she was taken to this hospital and spent 3+ days there. She has been adamant that I leave a review because she (and my family who visited her there) were very grateful for how everyone in the hospital cared for her. They said her nurses were very caring and and always alert. They especially mentioned someone named Antony. They appreciated the bedside manner and patience of the surgeons (I believe one of their names were Dr. Juthani as thsi was on her discharge form but they did mention that she had two who operated and they were both amazing. Not only did tey care for her but they also made sure to communicate with her doctor back home to ease her anxiety about not knowing what is happening because of the language barrier. Thank you for taking wonderful care of my grandmother.

Negative experience: This ER is a joke. My father went in a few days ago throwing up bile with extreme stomach pain, he could barely walk. They gave him morphine, put him on oxygen, then said it was some kind of a blockage and to make an appointment with his doctor and discharged him. The next day he calls his doctor who tells him to go to the ER right away. Went here again and they put him in a room that was so hot he was having difficulties breathing, and then left him there all day. No one went in to see him and finally at the end of the day he left. Third day came and he went back and same thing happened. The nurses were laughing and eating breakfast and told my father that eventually a doctor would come in, but they wouldn't know when or who. When he got up to leave he asked for a wheelchair because the pain was so bad, and the nurses aimlessly walked around for several minutes before he just ended up powering through the pain and making it to his car. The doctor who saw my father the first day was extremely rude, and the nurses that took over were understaffed and didn't seem to have any valuable information. Finally my parents ended up making the trip to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest which took care of him and made him comfortable right away and moved him from the ER to inpatient swiftly. Pocono Medical will always be a joke, no matter who takes them over. They lack not only staff, but compassion, ethics, and knowledge. Try your luck with St. Luke's up the road, or make the trip out to Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest, don't even waste your time walking into the building here. Every experience here has been a bad one.

Negative experience: I would say why this hospital should be bulldozed, but I would only be repeating what the other 1000 people who gave it 0 stars said. Yes, 0 stars. I will ask this. Aren't you people who are in charge of this place embarrassed at all at how horrible people think of your service and aptitude? That's what is wrong with this world. No shame.

Fantastic experience: I had both endoscopy and colonoscopy performed a week apart and both experiences were excellent. The nurses, anesthesiologist and doctors were so great. They took excellent care of me before during and after my procedures. I can't say enough good things about all the care I have received from the entire Lehigh Valley medical system.

Sofia Elkhayat 1 year ago

Negative experience: I came to this hospital twice for the same problem and not once the doctor came to talk me about the results of my CT scan. To the contrary they would send their nurses instead with discharge papers now I need to find another hospital to address the problem because it will continue to persist. I usually refrain myself from saying negative things, but this is too much. While they saved my life before the day they intubated me for my asthma, the nurse in ICU after I woke up from the coma was extremely unprofessional and rude. I give the one star for saving my life, but for everything else is a zero. Very unprofessional and not amicable or sensitive to peoples problems Update. yesterday, July 11, 2024, I was seen by Dr. Vincent Tio at the emergency room. Not only did he take his sweet time to come to check me while I was having an asthma attack, but he also threatened me to call CYS on me, while I was still under respiratory distress, because my 5 years old son was playing with the nebulizing tube which was finished and in a moment when I tried to breathe he put it in his mouth (but he is also asthmatic and he is used to it) the nurse saw him and told the doctor and he came to me threatening me that he was going to call CYS on me because that’s dangerous. I understand what he meant, but there was no need to make a threat while I was still in distress. On top of that, when he first came into the room he was asking me if f I was asthmatic while I was unable to breathe and told me that if I don’t talk he was going to intubate me while I was gasping for air. I’m on oxygen and I was receiving oxygen so my oxygen levels didn’t drop which it is normal, but I was gasping for air. He thought my problem was shortness of breath while I did not present any symptoms except for the shortness of breath. The blood work had the white blood cells elevated the RBC and RDW plus the lymphocytes absolute were all elevated which could mean an indication of an infection. He only focused on embolism and disregarded anything else. I’m home and I’m still having shortness of breath, pressure under my eyes and head, plus I’m coughing a greenish mucous which can indicate an upper respiratory infection. My problem is still persisting and Dr. VINCENT TIO, sent me home without finding the source of my asthma attack. I request an apology and explanation from the hospital.

Negative experience: Me and my girlfriend We have waited close to 10 hours Just to be seen. The Emergency room is always full . People come in with all kinds of injuries or for just a minor checkup. Do not go to this hospital if you want to wait log hours just for a simple check up

Fantastic experience: I had such a positive experience last night in the emergency room. After my 3 year son woke up in the middle of the night, wheezing, with shortness of breath, and not even being able to speak, I rushed him to the ER. From the moment I walked in the door with him, everyone acted fast and efficient. Everyone from the women at the front desk, to the nurse in triage who came out immediately, to the nurses and doctors in the back, everyone was extremely diligent and quick to respond. We barely made it into our room before the nurses and doctors were already there. We were there for maybe about 15 minutes and he was already getting a breathing treatment and a dose of steroids. As a panicked and, understandably, scared mom, they made me feel that my son’s care was their top priority and top concern at that moment. I just wanted to send my thanks to all of them on shift last night and how appreciated they all are!

Negative experience: My husband went to the 179 Independence Rd. Facility and the main hospital facility for pre op tests. In BOTH places, we had to deal with staff who seemed to want to make life difficult. The first place a random woman gave us an ugly face and declared there was no Dr. Gupta there. We ignored her and found Dr. Gupta. The hospital: Ok, this is how you greet someone. "Hello, may I help you? Do you have a script?". You don't say. "Why are you here? You need a script, you know." The culture here is very negative towards patients. Always has been.

Negative experience: This place is a nightmare. The only reason I came here is because one of my specialists are through this hospital. NEVER COME TO POCONO. I have been in the waiting room for almost 4 hours. I am so dizzy. They will not let me lay down. Nor will they give a time frame. This hospital literally killed my dad. And now like an idiot I'm sitting here. I would give zero stars if possible.

Negative experience: Disgraceful. But I am. Spent 2 days in and out of there for medical issues. Nurses are great mostly there and they are not the problem. However security guy from the facility is. Fortunately I was his target and I defend moral rights and human decency. Being asked by regular people like me if I was "on something" because this gem of a security guard would loudly say "hey let's go you're not a patient and not my fault for bad decisions" is amazing to me. We will find out what "bad decisions" he meant. Was it the hallucinations from a sugar episode? Or a breakdown from personal or medical issue? I'm sure the answer is forthcoming but to be safe I have already contacted my representative and will be contacting media to highlight this after the review. Understanding the weekend is short staffed I think Monday is fair for media consumption to allow contact from hospital. I guess my bad decisions have passed in order to write better now. Shameful

Negative experience: I was pregnant with my second child. My water broke. They checked to see if I was dialating at 1am I was .5 centimeters then at 5 am I was 3 centimeters then again at 10am I was 5 centimeters then at 12 the surgeon came on his shift and wanted to rush me in surgery because I guess it was taking too long for him they lied and said I wasn’t dialating when I was labor is different for every woman but they stopped inducing me and forced me to get surgery when I didn’t need it I hate this hospital

Fantastic experience: Our family recently had a significant family medical emergency requiring both medical and mental health care. The ER and CV Tele staff were unwaveringly vigilant, understanding, medically skilled, and supportive throughout a ten day process. Peter in ER is a calming steward attentive to his patients, staff, visiting family and friends. Sharon the caseworker worked tirelessly for her client:patients along with Michael the ever compassionate companion. Lissette the CV Tele nurse supervisor has nurtured a highly compassionate, accessible, expert staff second to none. The reporting systems were very timely and reasonably easy to interpret. This is the hospital to attend if your health is at risk.

Negative experience: Do not go here or send your loved ones here! Worst medical experience I ever had. Was bought here after a car accident while I was traveling from another state. They left me out in a hallway while I was bleeding from the face for over two hours despite the hospital being empty and there was staff around. They did not clean or properly treat my wounds. Wasn't given proper post treatment care (had to go to another hospital), wasn't checked for a concussion (which I had at the time) and they sent my antibiotics to the wrong pharmacy that was closed despite my friends' pleas not to send it there. It took me over a day with stitches in my mouth to straighten it out with the pharmacy since I live in another state. The surgeon couldn't tell exactly how many stitches needed to be removed so I couldn't relay it to the next plastic surgeon to work on my post recovery. As a result, I have worse scars because I still have a stitch or two in my face under my scars. The following days after my visit I was harassed non-stop by them to leave a good review and when I gave them 2 stars they called me twice as much. Was double billed and an invoice was sent to my house despite them already being paid by my insurance company.

Fantastic experience: Thank you to the entire ER staff for helping my son get back to normal breathing. Everyone treated us wonderfully. Thank you to Dr. John “J” Schleicher (spell check), the resident doctor on call, Mariam, the kind nurse who skillfully administered the liquid steroid into my stubborn son’s mouth, and to the many other kind staff people. I apologize for not remembering more names, but it’s been a difficult day. The ER team was smart at solving some tricky problems. They are doing great work. Peace and Love to everyone.

Fantastic experience: Saved my life, this is a review from years ago, it was New Year's Eve, the only surgeon available was the head of the department. He came in followed by no less than five other residents, all giving me insane care. My mother an educator, and my father was on the school board , so I was honored to be a part of this. The surgery went perfectly, and if mother nature had her way, I would not be writing this review! Thank you to everyone. From the ER staff to the surgical staff to the recovery staff ( which getting neglected so much for their hard work) Everyone in the department did excellent and I do have to say, even before Lehigh valley took over, I was treated like any patient would want to be treated. With respect. To some of the other reviewers that talked about drug panels being run on young mothers, sometimes these people have to assume the worst in order to make sure that your child is healthy, if you are a closet addict, which most are, your child would come out of the womb addicted to whatever substance you have been using. They did this to protect your kid, not too insult you. I think you need to move one more step to the right.

Negative experience: Worst experience of my life. I came in because I was vomiting for days on end, and I had nothing in my system. I was given two huge tablets of potassium chloride on an empty stomach, which afterwards, when I looked it up, it said that you’re not supposed to give patients that on an empty stomach or else it can cause cardiac arrhythmia, weakness, numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or mouth, uneven heartbeat and heart palpitations, and in some Cases it can lead to Loss of consciousness. For the rest of the night, I felt unstable, disoriented, jittery, anxious, and was not able to Make myself comfortable. This was probably due to the fact that I was given the medication on an empty stomach, and it led to me having heart problems which inevitably caused my anxiety. (I didn’t know where it was coming from at first) It was the most horrifying And uncomfortable experience I’ve ever had in my entire life. I called afterwards To ask if the symptoms I was having was normal, and I was told I could come in to be reevaluated If those were the symptoms I was having, Other than that, they basically said that they couldn’t help me.

Negative experience: My daughter gave birth at this facility in 2022. It was absolutely the worst experience of her life due to the horrible treatment by some of the nurses. I guess they forgot the Oath they took. She was treated like a criminal/drug addict, which she most definitely isn’t. Unbeknownst to my daughter they did 47 panel drug test and all came back perfectly fine. There is so much more to say but I’ll save it for later. If I could give these nurses a rating it would be way below zero.

Negative experience: Worst hospital experience ever. Basically a emergency room full of incompetent staff run by lazy children. My daughter was assaulted and I was kept away from her. They wouldn’t let me know what room she was in. When I asked security he refused to give me his name or her room number. The seated staff ignored me completely. Then the security decided instead of alleviating my concerns and worries they instead chose the irrational route of calling the police. My daughter was there for six hours plus. They didn't take vitals in the ambulance or in the hospital until five and a half hours later. They didn’t check her heart rate, her blood pressure and only fifteen minutes before she was was discharged did they check on her. She hadn’t even been seen by her doctor. They didn’t give her a ice pack during her whole visit. Not even a band aid. And they didn’t clean or dress her wounds or abrasions. No bandages nothing and didn’t even give her a dressing for her sprained finger. 6 hours plus that amounted to the most basic treatment I could have administered myself for her at home. They basically got paid for doing some x rays, giving her tylenol and sitting her in a room. The level of care is ever lacking and we won’t be back. Do yourself a favor and avoid this hospital like the plague. You’d be better off going to a school nurse not even kidding.

Negative experience: I fortunately don’t have much experience with emergency room visits at a hospital however, I don’t think it is a prudent practice to put someone into a room and then not address or see the patient for what is now at 2 hours and 15 minutes and counting. Granted the extent of the injury is a possible bite from a rabid fox but how do you not have a doctor or nurse actually look at or examine the injury site during this whole time and counting. Very unsettling.

Negative experience: The DO had no idea what she was doing. I had pain 10/10 and they gave me 1000mg of Tylenol by mouth. The DO palpated my belly fat and said my bladder was soft and I could be discharge when I was in fetal position crying in pain because my bladder had 650cc of urine in it and I had urinary retention. Finally the RN advocated for a dopler reading and that's when the DO changed her attitude to blame me and say I never told her I had a procedure with a smirk. I'm giving 2 stars because of the RN and everyone else except the DO!

Negative experience: You need to wait hours here this hospital is the worst. You didn’t know if go to saint Luke that is the same thing or here. Either way we don’t have good hospitals here in Monroe county is a shame.

Negative experience: I’ve been getting blood work here and this one certain lady always gives me an issue telling me I can’t get it done due to my script but mind you it says I get it done every month and it’s marked off. I have no problems with anyone else besides that specific person.

Fantastic experience: Great ER experience, the doctor and nurse went above and beyond with their kindness. They were both very profesional and did a great job with my stitches. All staff was kind, overall a 5 star experience. Not sure why they have poor reviews, but it does not reflect the staff. When I say everyone was kind, I really mean it.

Negative experience: Christina Schaefer Broke my ankle Memorial Day weekend on Saturday. Went to this facility to get exray and treatment. Never mentioned anything about not accepting my insurance proceeded to treat me then months later the bills start rolling in HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS. Plus they took hundreds of dollars from my insurance and then had the nerve to bill me for the rest. Bunch of scumbags at this place. Don’t care about people only the money. DONT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!

Negative experience: Today I took my grandson to the ER and to find out they have no pediatrics dept and no pediatrician at all! They stated they have only one and he was a vacation. What in the world is going on here! A huge hospital with not one pediatrician omg horrible just horrible! I can’t believe this they should have a pediatric dept what do they think people in the poconos don’t have babies! Something needs to be done and fast! Just plain horrific

Negative experience: If your in the Pocono area i highly recommend going to Saint Luke’s in Bartonsville , pocono medical is by far the worst hospital in the Poconos went in pain and sat in the waiting area for 4 hours and this not just the first time I experienced something like this everyone I know by far experienced the same.

Negative experience: My boyfriend & I went to have his ear looked at. It was hurting him & his equalibrium was off. He was to the point of tears. He spoke to the Dr. Then he told him he'd been using poroxide as well as eardrops. The Dr. nodded & my boyfriend thought he'd do something. He walked out & a nurse walked in & talked about other meds my boyfriend takes. Then left. We waited a bit till the nurse walked back in. Handing him discharge papers. She said the Dr. sent a perscription to our pharmecy. So we left. We got to the pharmacy & said he needed his perscriptions. The pharmacyst said she had 2. But when we got them they were for something else. NOT for his ear. What the Dr did do for the hurt & pain because his ear was NOTHING !! Dr.'s are supposed to help but when my boyfriend needed it they did NOTHING !! DON'T BOTHER GOING TO POCONO. THEY'RE NOT GOING TO HELP YOU. NOR DO THEY CARE !!

Fantastic experience: I have received chemotherapy infusions for MS on two occasions in 2023. Both occasions I was treated with compassion and kindness, ample time was spent ensuring the infusions went well and that I was comfortable. On one occasion I had a private room on the other I was in the less private area first stall on the right. The private room is preferred as the first stall is next to the fridge and main entrance and has more traffic. That said I slept through most of each of the 5 hour sessions and was perfectly satisfied with the care and the staff in general. Only real complaint is in a 5-hour session. You miss breakfast and lunch and crackers and cookies aren't a very healthy snack, let alone a good meal.

Negative experience: If i could give zero stars i would. My husband brought our 3 year old to the ER, for a persistent fever, and lathery, he asked for them to collect her urine for a UTI screen, they claimed it wasn't necessary! Claimed she had an ear infection. I took her a different ER a day later; not only was her ear NOT infected!!! But wow! She has a UTI like my husband asked about!!! Wow! Not listening to parents is a major issue. Doctors especially here need to do better.

Negative experience: Worst ER room ever! Had a Brain bleed and they sent me home. I suffered for 5 days until I went to lehigh valley cedar crest hospital where I was advised I had a brain bleed and I was hospitalized for 2 weeks. This hospital did the samething 5 years ago and they sent me home, they missed the aneurysm! The hospital doesn't own the E.R how insane! Dont believe me ask!

Fantastic experience: I have a late review but back in November I delivered my baby early due to preeclampsia. The nurses at labor and delivery were just amazing. I was so scared yet they were patient and explained everything to me. Shout out to Emily and Nancy for making me feel safe and comfortable. Dr. Reynolds for delivering my baby safely. The anesthesiologist was great but I don’t remember his name. Now on to the NICU. What a phenomenal team. Dr. Hernandez, who I dealt with mostly is stern but kind and smart. The other docs were great also. So many wonderful nurses to name that took care of my baby and kept him healthy. They empowered me when I was feeling low and made the 2 months my baby was in there welcoming to my husband and I. I really hope that the powers that be see this because you have a great team in labor and delivery. That NICU is tough work but that crew….angels in scrubs.

Negative experience: Lehigh Valley Health Network Pocono is by far the worst. My son is 8 years old and has epilepsy. He is currently on 2 meds and was still seizing we decided to bring him to the hospital, the EMTs called ahead and they accepted my son even though they had no pediatric doctors. We get there and my son had 2 more seizures and was not responding to the medication. The nurses are slow to respond and barely kept an eye on my son. Then a blonde nurse over weight with glasses came to tell me that they were planning on medavacing my son to CHOP where his neurologist is however parents were not able to go with him and he had to go alone.. this eas a lot to decided and I told the nurse I need to speak to my husband first the nurse turned around and walked awa stating “well I’ll just tell them no.” I admit I did not have nice words for her. Then doctor Au came in and said that CHOP did not even want to take my son and she said “I had to fight for that” as if she did us a favor.. that’s your job. You should be doing that. Horrible experience disgusted with them in all aspects. I will never in my life return and I will be putting in a formal complaint with the hospital. Do not go there especially if it is a child in need of care.

I left the hospital with cuts that weren’t cleaned up or dressed I was giving no pain medicine I wasn’t aware I didn’t have clothes on (they had been cut up because of blood) neither did they notify my family I needed clothes they just discharged me I’m from new jersey I would’ve thought at least this hospital was okay it’s been a traumatic day & I have my family taking care of me this was the worst hospital

Positive experience: Its better than any st lukes facility as far as thorough doctors/SURGEONS go. Nurses are short staffed and extremely overworked. Cafeteria has very small selection compared to other local 'hospital businesses'.

Patrick Mckee 2 years ago

Negative experience: My name is Shalin Mckee and My husband visited the St. Lukes ER back in 2017 for extreme pain which we believed to be a tick bite, they ran numerous test and couldn't find anything wrong, said they would call with the Lyme test results and sent us home. Few days later they called with positive Lyme results and told us that his type of Lyme was going to cause pain, muscle pain, tiredness ect. With flareups Basically for the rest of his life and there's nothing that can be done. So whenever my husband had pain and exhausting we just assumed it was Lyme.. fast forward to 2021 hubby had extreme leg, hip pain and excruciating headaches and a soft spot in his skull so we went to St. Luke's Er monroe.. after testing they informed us that he has stage 4 metastatic lung cancer... fast forward 2 weeks after treatment we are called in to be told that unfortunately he had lung nodules in 2017 when he went to the ER and they missed it in his scans and they were very sorry... really? In 4 years you didn't realize he had cancer and now he's terminal!!! They could have saved him with a simple surgery and low chemo back then and now he's terminal.. Please check your records, check your scan results from prior years, if there are nodules listed and you weren't told get them checked and call a lawyer.. these Doctors don't care, there is zero remorse for what they've done to my husband and our family. They've destroyed our lives!! And Pocono Medical(lvhn) missed it too when he was there 3 weeks earlier.. the scans showed lesions and nodules, and the radiologist specifically noted to ER staff to notify us of nodules and schedule follow-ups but the ER Dr never mentioned a word of it and both he and my husband signed discharge papers with no mention of follow-ups or nodules/lesions.. it is written clear as day on the radiology report (which of course we never saw until recently) check your records bc they clearly don't!!!!

Negative experience: The worst experience ever! HIPPA violations by the hospitalist Not safe or secure, people walk in and out Staff aren’t good at introducing themselves When entering your room. 6 bed bath in 23 days and no hair washing It’s hard to get better when you feel gross I did notice that the obnoxious techs wear their name tags backwards. Case manager screwed up my referral Now I can’t get a hold of them. I have been asking for a week. Most RNs were good and caring the technicians and LPNs cut a lot of corners PT/OT were in and out whenever THEY wanted with no regard to your strength or energy level. You are just a number Go anywhere else!

Negative experience: Waited neatly 6 hours to be seen in the Emergency Room in excruciating pain. I understand triage, but what I had was truly an emergency. After being seen, I had a Ct Scan of my abdomen and diagnosed with gastric enteritis, then released on antibiotics, after several more hours. This would have been sufficient if their diagnosis was correct, but sadly it wasn't. Within 2 days, I was back in another emergency room where I also had a CT scan and diagnosed with a completely obstructed bowel. I had to have an emergency laparotomy to fix it. Never again will I go to this hospital. The radiologists cannot read their scans properly.

Fantastic experience: My elderly mom was taken there last Sunday with 6 fractured ribs. The staff in the ER, ICU and 2B were absolutely incredible. They knew how to adequately control her pain without over-administering opiods. They were all knowledgeable, kind and compassionate.

Negative experience: Had to take my 2 year old for a head injury tonight. First the lady who took my daughters vitals treated me like a terrible person for my daughter getting hurt. After 45 minutes sitting in a waiting room while my child is basically covered in her own blood they took us into a room where I found test tubes filled with blood THAT DID NOT BELONG TO MY CHILD!!!! The nurse who dealt with us was sweet but didn’t seem to acknowledge nor care or seem the slightest bit concerned about these test tubes of blood just sitting on the counter. The doctor was nice. The lady who stapled my daughters head was super sweet same with her partner Hunter who helped keep me the nervous mom calm and my daughter calm. But I will not be returning until the health department checks out this clearly unsanitary hospital.

Negative experience: The wait time in the er is incredibly ridiculous . My 93 yr old mother was in such pain and couldn't sit much longer ( over an hr.,) when I began asking others how long they were waiting, over 7 hrs and still counting. We left there but the next morning the ambulance was called to her home, she got a room but the staff nurses were extremely unfriendly and uncaring. I asked one nurse for help to turn my mother, she grumble grabbed the bed sheet and pulled my mother with such force it was hard to watch! Unfortunately my mother's disease pad was too far and she didn't have much time left. The nurses never visited her. Or showed any kindness to her or the family. Once when my mother's teeth slid the nurse told us to fix it instead of her trying to help. All I can say is there are Nurses and then there are "nurses ". My mom did say some of them were nice but it's the ugly ones that shouldn't be working in this field. How would they feel if it was their mother laying there ?

Fantastic experience: People rarely leave good reviews for hospitals, but I wanted to take a moment to say my husband and I had a wonderful experience here. We are from out of town and had an emergency while passing through; a quick google search led us to the nearest ER at LVH in E. Stroudsburg and we were treated with tremendous respect and kindness. From the front desk and security guard to the PA, doctor, and nurse, everyone was exceedingly warm and pleasant to deal with. We got in and out quickly and just wanted to say thank you to the care team that assisted us

Negative experience: Look I understand why we go to a hospital and how it works as to who gets seen 1st, but have lack of or no respect for people with disabilities. My son fell and hit his head and had a short mild spasm and hit right up like nothing happened, get to ER it’s packed, said it could up to 5 hours wait times, seriously? Try telling an adult with a learning disability he has to wait 5 hours to see a dr, long story short, we’ve been here less than an hour and he’s already asking what’s taking so long. And people in waiting room staring now at him because he’s getting upset.

Fantastic experience: Jasmine is the best nurse! She took such great care of me. I Came in a hot mess, lethargic, weak, dehydrated ... she got my iv right in and I'm a hard stick... listened to me and was very attentive to me and my treatment. Now I'm wide awake, diagnosed, started treatment, feeling so much better.

Negative experience: If you hate your family or friends bring them here. The absolute worst care, worst doctors, worst practices. Just bad all around. How bad you ask. So bad the insurance company called me, asked if made any co-pays yet (I didn't), and then said I was forbidden to make any payments. She also stated they would not be paying the $128,000 bill. Why? Brought my wife there with a 216 over 1?? something blood pressure. 8 days, 4 different wards, she is released with 186 over 1?? something blood pressure. I was told 30 point decrease in 8 days was "considered success". I provided doctors with detailed notes of her condition, they told me I have it wrong, I've written symptoms in reverse order, etc., and dismissed anything I said. Took her to a real hospital where they listened to me, read my notes and eventually were able to diagnose her condition. These doctors are ego driven and are in my opinion dangerous. My first amendment protected opinion.

Negative experience: I walked in with chest pain’s, at no time did a doctor come to speak to me I had the nurse explain everything to me , I left with the same pain but worse after almost three hours the nurse her self discharged me no doctor came to explain anything to me this hospital has gotten so bad it’s amazing I was praying to God that I didn’t get a heart attack at home. I would not recommend this hospital to (anyone anyone) this is my second experience and it’s been a really bad experiences not once but twice so I don’t recommend this hospital to no one. Please if u are feeling really sick go else where!!!! I feel the nurse should not be doing the doctors work!!!!!!!

Fantastic experience: I have nothing but good to say about this hospital!! My mother has been a patient there for about 5 days & counting! Every single person, from the Doctors, Nurses, Aides, Housekeeping, have been the best anyone could ask for. Everyone is friendly, helpful, cheerful, professional. They know how to make a patient feel comfortable & confident! My mother has had no lack of attention or service. Wonderful care! I wish, the staff were in my local hospital in NY! THANK YOU ALL for making my mother stay such a nice one!!

Fantastic experience: Labor and delivery is the best! The doctors and nurses were amazing! Vladimir Nikiforouk is the best OBGYN in Pennsylvania. I've had OBGYN's in PA and NYC, and none compare to him. He's amazing and did a great job with my C-section. Please let him know that. I gave birth 12/25/2020!

Fantastic experience: This hospital has a great labor & delivery unit! I had the absolute best experience giving birth here. The nurses made me feel safe from the moment I arrived until the moment I left. I had an anesthesia complication; nurse Olivia was so attentive & aware. I felt safe & knew they had everything under control. Peggy & Nancy were great as well. I can’t thank them enough for helping baby Nola have a safe arrival !

Negative experience: The worst experience ever with an emergency room. Waiting time for the urine test for the kid is more than 3 hours! You are kidding me. Angry staff, nobody cares. You need more doctors and nurses. The nurse who took the cup looked like she never did the test before. Shame on you!

Katie Solosky 3 years ago

Negative experience: I don't know why I came here, LVHN doesn't care about people. It honestly feels like they try their hardest not to help you. I should have gone to St. Lukes. Now I'm stuck here with tons of other people for hours now and they haven't taken a single person. The waiting room keeps filling up. What a nightmare of a place. An hour in I tried to ask for an update and see how long my wait was snd the nurse on duty told me I was harassing them. Nice, I think I might be dying but I’m harassing her.

Negative experience: up all night in pain. drove myself nearly an hour to get there with a kidney stone. wasn't seen for several hours. the waiting room was nearly empty. the intern told me to shut up. nurse and doctor were dismissive/flippant. gave me a PERCOCET with a cup of water and told me to go home. no IV. no saline. I wanted to die at that point from the total lack of compassion. i never felt like such garbage in my life. i'd rather commit suicide than go to this place again.

Negative experience: 1st time coming here as a new resident of PA and this was the worst hospital ever!!! I came in with my one year old after urgent care sent me to the emergency room i got here at exactly 9pm and as i write this review it is 11:18pm and they still have us waiting here, stating that is when the chart nurse sends us to back, that is based on medical emergency like i said i came in my son had a fever of 103.2 swollen abdomen but i guess he wasnt considered a priority, thank god urgent care had given him motrin because who knows ehat would of happened, worst experience ever do not recommend and lets not mention how rude the nurses that are supposed to be attending you at the front are, truly a horrible experience. Do not recommend at all if you can find a better place than this please do!!!

Dan Schultz 3 years ago

Positive experience: Had a dislocated shoulder (not completely, partially) and was taken to this hospital. Luckily I have good insurance and called for an ambulance. Cause I already know how bad this place is. No wait, immediately put in a room. Waited almost two hours for a doctor to put it back in. Took less than 30 seconds to relocate, no pain at all. Had I walked into the emergency room, I would have waited far longer. And that was when it was still Pocono Medical Center. Still just as bad under LVHN I see.

Negative experience: This hospital is literally a joke. The doctors rarely care about patient treatment or what’s going on. They just want people in and out. They want to send people home with out even fixing their health issues. And then from me pushing for my care they’re trying to send me to the hospital over an hour away saying they don’t have the equipment they need here when I’ve literally had it done here a few weeks ago!! A joke. My life and health is literally a joke to them. And I can’t even go to St Luke’s instead because they won’t see me since this network originally did my procedure and they don’t want to touch it after them.

Negative experience: This is the worst hospital I have ever been to. The nurses do not care about your well-being and do not check on you. I rang the bell 5 times before having someone come to me just for them to lie to my face, withheld pain medication and then proceed to not check on me while I’m in excruciating pain.

Fantastic experience: We have always received great quality care at LVHN-Pocono. Dr’s that quickly evaluate and work to get to the bottom of the issue and hopefully resolve it. Medical staff, assistants and nurses who always go above and beyond. We are happy to have such a great hospital that services the area with advanced equipment, technology, and knowledge close to us here in the Poconos of PA.

Kyle Langston 3 years ago

Negative experience: I am not one to write reviews. However, this was the worst emergency room visit that myself and family have experienced. Dr. Xu was the most unprofessional and rude healthcare "professional" that we have had to interact with. False examination findings were documented on discharge, that were never performed in the room. The doctor did not perform a complete assessment, having never examined the heart or lungs, yet this magically was documented on discharge. Treatment was provided on a presumed diagnosis that was later confirmed, once testing resulted, to not be the diagnosis. The presumed diagnosis would have also needed a heart and lung exam to be assessed correctly, regardless. Which was not performed. No follow-up on performing sets of vitals was done until we had to ask for them to be performed. The residual staff otherwise seemed burnt out, and to have had a lack of empathy. While at their central hub, complaints about various patient visit reasons/difficulty could be heard from within patient rooms, divulging HIPAA sensitive information . Overall, creating a negative environment. Having had the chance to look at the reviews post visitation, it now seems consistent with what I am reading in the past weeks/months on Google Reviews. I regret not checking before we went for emergent care.

Negative experience: If you care about your loved ones DONT BRING THEM HERE. They killed my father and had no remorse throughout the entire thing. My father told us prior to his death that he was scared to ask the nurses anything because they were so mean to him. DR SHARMA was absolutely terrible! He gave up on my father 15 mins into his shift. And he died hours later, the other female doctor stayed with him and made sure he was okay for days and he was alright but as soon as that Dr Sharma came in, my dad declined way to quickly. Put my father on the ventilator and did not tell us until 24 hours later! We plan on taking legal action with the hospital and dr sharma himself. They were extremely shady and never transparent. Please don’t make the same mistake we did. This is the worst place to go. This place should be shut down immediately!! This is not even half of the heart breaking story.

Jessica Mangarell 3 years ago

Negative experience: This hospital should be ashamed of the way they treat their patients and their patients families. The desk members/front staff security is terrible, absolutely rude. In the case of an Emergency drive as far away from this hospital as you can. The staff members stand around scratching lottery tickets instead of working with the patients guests, they were completely unhelpful, uncaring, dishonest, confusing. I will NEVER be at this hospital again, i will never recommend this hospital to my worse enemy. Please look else where for care, do not even waste your time and energy in a place like this. DISGUSTED

Negative experience: Really bad experience with ultrasound there like no other place. They almost killed our son last year too and the staff is rude and lies. Lsten like the man they let die of heart attack in emergency room lobby they told him sit down and shut up, they knew his medical history too. Talking to the ceo and patient reps does nothing. I was born there so no negative made up stuff this place I call the one stop chop shop and unless you die or your loved ones they won’t help you there and have major attitude.
